  1. "Leisure time" is getting more and more scarce lately as it seems somehow. Too often too tired from being on-call and I definitely need to start studying for my second board certification and there will be some rough times ahead I guess.

Going to bed soon. The work day after a 24 h shift always feels awful (like jet lag) so I better get to sleep soon to get my zzZZZzz in because I'm being on-call again tomorrow evening/night. Who else hates vacation time when half the department seems to be on holiday?

I have a follow-up appointment on Friday so I took Friday off. Also not working on the weekend and being on late shift next Monday. That means three days in a row without an alarm clock, lol.

Meh, on-call again. Moderately busy so far. Hopefully the night is quiet.

  2. Finally going on vacation tonight!

  3. Fi-nal-ly the equipment for my homegym arrived. Delivery times are insane these days.

Since moving to my new flat in another town I actually have the space for a treadmill. I planned on only getting a treadmill because I already have enough stuff for sufficient training at home but decided to get a power cage as well because I can't install my aero sling to the ceiling in this flat and installing it into the wall just plain stinks because no pull-ups or inverted rows etc. possible.

Anyway, it took four guys to carry that treadmill upstairs in its package - they definitely earned their dinner that evening!

  4. 24 h shift on Sunday was just plain awful. I still don't feel recovered and going to take it slow today. I'm taking some overtime hours this week.

Playing with my newest gadget: an oura ring.

    💍

  5. Anxiety is through the roof right now and I vacillate between "I want to eat and self-medicate with food!" and "I'm too hyper and nauseous to eat right now! Btw, where is the caffeine, b*tch?!"

This seems to cancel itself out calorie-wise. Two more weeks of this crap. Then I'm going to sleep for three days straight I guess. Or maybe not.

Pre Surgery. I now the feeling. Hang in there it will get better. After surgery you will change day to day and in my case my hunger went away. Weird.

Oh, this is not about any surgery whatsoever.

  6. Anxiety is through the roof today. Things are overwhelming when looking at it in sum at the moment. The big picture is just, well... too big.

We walked the dog today and just like yesterday I wasn't really in the mood.  Today even less so than yesterday because I knew what was going to happen. I tend to mull over things in my head and start ruminating when walking in quiet. The conversation with my husband will inevitably turn to these things, raining my anxiety even more.

It's different when going for a run or a bike ride. Thoughts are not as present then. I don't know if it's the higher heart rate, the fact that I need to be more aware of the movement when running or needing to be more aware of the environment because of moving faster when riding a bike or a combination of it all.

Fact is, I hate walking for this reason, even when not alone. I start ruminating and start to feel like crap when there's something going on.

  7. Blood work came back normal. My GP office called today. Yeah!

Having a sore throat since a few days (all corona tests negative so far though). Damn! I need a negative PCR-test on admission day! 😷

  8. COVID is on the rise again. Hopefully you all had your shots if eligible for them. It's not only the sick and old dying from it. 😕

    1. eholmes89

      eholmes89

Had my shots but just recovering from testing positive now! Being sick after a sleeve is certainly a new challenge. Especially with trying to stay hydrated!!

Being easier for the bypass people I guess. I had my booster shot on Tuesday and no real adverse reaction.

Working at a hospital I'm now a contact person regularly again. Oh well...

  9. Damn, watching Mukbangs really is kind of addictive, lol.

  10. Err, we have COVID positive people in the department, me being one of them. I received a call from the lab 10 min before I planned leaving and they said that I had a "slightly positive test". Whatever that means. My first test on Tuesday was negative.

Anyway, 14 d of quarantine for me. So far a slightly sore throat that I only notice in the evening hours and a bit of a headache.

    *sigh*

      Get Well Soon ♥️

    2. DMWLS

      DMWLS

Get well and please stay quarantine and don't be in such a hurry to leave the house, make sure that after the 14 days you feel well before going out. Most time if you test right after being slight positive, you will test positive again, so don't be in a hurry to retest. Take care of yourself ❤️

  11. Everything is "corona" as it seems. Like there is nothing else anymore in the news. Stopped reading most of the stuff. Watching the news, I stopped long ago. It's depressing without end.

For me it's not only "corona" but several other things that are on my plate IRL, even though "corona" is a huge thing in its own way when you're a medical worker. I got my second vaccine shot yesterday and now I'm hoping that these shots are really worth something.

Anyway, I'm not going to be online much during the next time except for studying online as I still have this exam pending (no date set yet).

  12. Feeling kind of tired today. Went a little grocery shopping for soy yoghurt and wanted to get frozen fruits for green smoothies - most of it was gone. *sigh*

At least I could get some of these little round pumpernickel breads. Looking forward to eating some of these bite sized things tomorrow.

  13. Feeling quite tired today. The weather is matching my mood. Cold, rainy, windy.

    1. Krimsonbutterflies

      Krimsonbutterflies

We are in the exact same situation. I'm fatigued and very tired, this rainy weather matches. I lit some candles, drinking black tea and a vanilla premier shake mixed together, watchinh TV and using my heating pad.

  14. Felt like crap on the last miles of my bike ride. My stomach decided to start hurting during the ride and I couldn't hydrate properly and I also couldn't eat my energy bar. Puked up the bite I took a mile later. I felt a little weird to the stomach since noon but I didn't think it would become that bad.

The last 10 km felt like hell. 😩

I feel better after coffee, a carrot-ginger soup and a protein pudding but still... wasn't fun.

  15. Finally mustered up the courage to write that letter to my insurance about plastics. Now it's wait and see.

I'm sick today. Diarrhea, stomach ache, eyes slightly burning, feeling a bit sub-febrile, being cold all day. Went to the doctor's and got a sick leave until Thursday. Seems kind of silly during vacation but one gets the vacation days back later.

Thanks four your answer as well!

You're the second person stating that "the work was unfinished" before plastics. I guess I have (developed) a different view on this.

I certainly don't want to jump through some silly hoops again and delaying for months on end (either the pictures speak for themselves and I get approved or I'm going to self-pay and sue to try to get the money back; that's possible in Germany when you've been denied after appealing) - but it's not like this issue feels as... "urgent" like WLS did back then.

I don't feel like unfinished work (anymore?) and I don't think plastic surgery would somehow close a chapter in my life. There are chapters in life that will always continue somehow, "food issues" most likely being one of them.

Anyway, depending how insurance decides I will go for abdominal/mons lift and brachioplasty first, then breasts and thighs second. Butt, I'm not sure. Plastic surgeon claims that butt doesn't really need it. I guess I will wait and see how the butt looks in comparison to the rest when the other work is done. I don't have issues sitting or something so there is no way insurance will pay for this. Maybe lower body lift is an option after all for the first one. Not sure.

    3. Lynnlovesthebeach

      Lynnlovesthebeach

Good luck with your decision. The only thing I thought was urgent was arms! There is no way I could wear anything sleeveless without the surgery and I live in Florida. I told my doctor my goal is "cute, sleeveless dresses in the summertime!" I don't know if most docs do this but with mine you pay full price for the most expensive procedure and then 1/2 price for the rest. So it's better to do as much as possible each time. Keep in touch if you have any specific questions and I'll help you if I can.

Thank you! What my plastic surgeon offered to me is that either I can get combos because they're less pricy or - should insurance cover some procedures - to get a combo with half-self-pay so I can get e. g. brachioplasty or butt less expensive because I don't have to pay hospital stay and anesthesia then. That was one of my criteria for choosing the surgeon: does he offer combo?

There is no way insurance will cover either butt or arms because it's "not bad enough". Arms are almost never covered in Germany. In general it's getting better with WLS being covered but with plastics... forget it.

However, things are so much different in Germany when it comes to hospital stays and what post-op compression wear is available etc. - but thanks a lot for your offer. 😘

  16. Finally two weeks off! Going on vacation this night!

      Hopefully I will!

However, we're living on a construction area so to say because house needs to be renovated, but it's our construction area, LOL. Luckily some of the major things are already done.

  17. First day without any rain today. Of course I went on a bike ride. It could be a tad warmer and more sunny but as long as it isn't raining, it's still ok.

I wonder if my husband will really come with me on this planned about 40 km bike ride. I invited him on komoot and I wonder if he's really going to rent an e-bike. Let's wait and see. ;)

  18. First week of new/old work is over. It felt quite exhausting in some way.

Abdominal plus mons, breasts and thighs will obviously be covered by my insurance. I'm going to self-pay for butt and arms in combination with one of the other surgeries. The later are not really medically necessary but pure vanity so it's ok for me.

I'm going to get the first shot of Biontech/Pfizer vaccine on Monday. Three weeks later the next.

  19. Follow-up yesterday was ok. That is, I have to wait for the labs though. This will take a few days.

Surgeon was pleased and told me to wean off the PPI. Ultrasound was fine. There was no nutritional counseling because vacation time but I could schedule an appointment should I want one.

I'm going to wait for the labs coming back and if there should be anything off I'm going to make an appointment. The question I had can be asked and answered via e-mail.

  20. Free weekend ahead! No alarm clock in the morning, lol.

  21. GL, I feel like a hammer has hit me on the head. Sunday's 24 h shift was beyond awful and one day of recovery is not nearly enough. I hate that jet lag feeling I often have after these shifts. Everyone deals with it but I doubt something's going to change.

I'm leaving at the end of December. No more of this **** after that. Time to bring in the new **** then though, lol.

Yes, I resigned today but even given the fact that everyone knew I would only be a 3-year add on and given the fact that I'm staying 3 months longer than originally planned... it was still a weird feeling to hand in that piece of paper this morning.

I will miss quite a few people a lot.

I don't know if it will really be better - but it will for sure be different. I'm going back to the hospital that sent me away for three years to get my board certification as a neuroradiologist.

  22. Going home again this afternoon. I guess we will be home at about midnight. Luckily I don't have to go to work until Tuesday. I hate going to work the days after one comes home from vacation.

hope you had a fab time! we still aren't allowed to go on holiday here. Still pretty locked down, not even allowed to go to your own holiday/weekend house!

  23. Going in on Tuesday. Things are arranged (need to order a cab to the station because it's too early for a bus going there) and I'm getting more nervous by the hour.

  24. Going in tomorrow. Will be back sometime next week.

Thank you. Things went fine (or so I guess). Still swollen. It's not easy to find a comfortable position at home. Dreading the first night home without a hospital bed.

  25. Got just diagnosed with iron deficiency. So it's high dose supplements for a few weeks and another blood work. Plus testing for occult bleeding to make sure it's really a nutritional issue (most likely the cause - after all bariatric surgery is now regularly listed as a possible cause and given the fact that iron absorption occurs in the duodenum and upper jejunum...).

      NuOutlook

Don't worry after my gastric bypass I too was diagnosed with iron deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency as well. My doctor monitors my blood levels and added iron supplements and vitamin D supplement to my vitamin regime. Good Luck :)
