  1. I know what you mean. I'm a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding in NOLA in June, three months post op to the day almost. I'm nervous, too. Im more so concerned about the alcohol restriction since this is a 3 day long extravaganza. I'll just have to pace myself with the shots. I already know I won't partake in any mixed drinks because of the sugar and cals. I'll just pick off the many meals that will be provided and have my high protein snacks in my purse. It sucks but I'll still have loads of fun.

Yes! I had mine done at Mercy Jefferson. I started off in the surgery center across the street. Then they moved me to main hospital for my last night. I guess to not tie up a whole nurse for just one, independent patient. All of the other patients where discharged. They did manage to get me a private room at the main hospital which I was grateful for.

Dr. Wagner just did my surgery on Monday. It was a great, smooth experience. The only drawback was the distance of the hospital from my house. I didn't want visitors to make such a long drive. I ended up having to stay a second night because my nausea wasn't properly controlled. Therefore, I wasn't taking in a lot of fluids and they were concerned about dehydration after discharge. Other than that, it was great. His office staff was kind and professional and so was everyone at the hospital. Dr. Wagner did a good job making me feel comfortable about going under the knife. They get a 4.5 out of 5 in my book.

Did you like Dr. Wagner and his team? I have my appt with them on Thursday. What type of preop testing did they require? How's your sleeve working for you?

4 pound weight gain on pre op liquid diet

Depends on the doc. My surgery was just cancelled due to weight gain of 15 lbs over the last 5 months. They didn't tell me about these rules beforehand so I am very upset. Four pounds doesn't seem like much but it really just depends on how strict your doc is. Mine is very strict clearly. They want me to lose the weight before they will schedule me again. While I will be losing the weight (I've already lost 2 lbs since Wednesday), I will be consulting with other surgeons because I have a strict timing window due to work. I already have prior auth from the insurance company.
  8. Did everything go smoothly? I am in the same situation. I have been approved but the surgeon's office cancelled my surgery due to 15 lb weight gain since August. They are requiring me to lose the weight before they will put me back on the schedule. This would be fine if I wasn't starting a new job in a couple of months and NEEDING to have surgery done before I start. It's either now or wait another 6 months and that is out of the question. It took me 6 months of a preop diet, another month before I got insurance approval, scheduled a month out only to be taken off the schedule a week before my surgery date. Taking 3-4 weeks to lose the 15 lbs and waiting a month before surgery will kill my timeline. I feel like I need to get the ball rolling with another surgeon ASAP. I really don't have time to wait. I have BC/BS of Michigan. Please help!

I'm going to check out Dr. Minkins' seminar and Dr. Wagner's. Both have good reviews.

Thank you for that because I surely registered for Dr. Minkin's seminar at Des Peres a couple of weeks from now. I really have to get this done in March because my new job starts the second week of April. I'll wait and see how quickly they can get me back on the schedule before I start all over with all the preop testing somewhere else. It's just too much of a headache to switch hastily because I'm mad at Dr. Eagon's office. I worked for Wash U too (might be going back as I was offered my old position back) and I know several people who have either been sleeved or gotten the bypass by him and they are all very happy with their results. I've already lost two pounds since Wednesday. I'll hold my ponies until I do my weigh in.

My lovely primary doctor put me on phentermine. I was on it before and I lost 12 lbs in 2.5 weeks but was taken off of it because of increased anxiety. Between the meds, the 1200 calorie diet he put me on, and not really being able to eat solids due to my recent oral surgery, this 15 lbs shouldn't take long to get off at all.

They are strict and I know he's conservative but sheesh! Some warning would have been nice. I was called for scheduling on 1/4. They could have told me any weight gain would result in my surgery being cancelled at that time and it would have given me enough time to drop some weight before my refresher course. When you know better, you do better...usually. But this is so important to me, I definitely would have been weighing myself often to make sure no weight crept up on me. If they can't get me scheduled in March after having this weight off in a few weeks, I'll have to find another surgeon. I start a new job in April so I'm on time constraints.
