  1. That's great. I found a broth that had 9 gms of protein and only 35 calories! Sent from my SM-N900V using BariatricPal Hello! Do you have the name of the broth you use with so much protein? THX!

Nausea and vomiting 8 weeks postop

I'm very glad you have had great success at this repair. I did go read up on gov.com about strictures. I had a lap band in 2008, removed in 2011 and got my VSG 2 weeks ago. So just a tad worried and curious about how everyone is doing! I love this site!

I am so sorry! If you still have issues after their "fix", what next? How is a stricture corrected? How does a stricture occur? Oh I feel so bad for you two. Do you mind telling me what they think caused your stricture, and what they did to help you, and what will help you now since you still have some issues? Thank you. I'm going to go read up on this now, I've only glossed over it. This certainly should help the OP get back to the dr for this check up. I am so sorry for both of you! =(
  4. Oh yes, I am still fantasizing about having my "Kalona" Cottage cheese. But, sadly that's only allowed for me when I have full foods. *le sigh* "

    Vitamins after surgery

I also started mine as soon as I got home. I have the Bariatric Advantage (god what a long name) Innovations Advanced Multie EA. *whew* And I let it sort of dissolve in my mouth, it takes like one of those old fashioned candy bracelets to me, so I love them. I got a B injection last week. But I want my own B (Complex-Lipotropic) vial at home *angry face* I am not afraid to inject myself, when we used to use injectable B Complex Lipotropics, we lost weight more easily than when we did not use them. And we felt a tad more energetic.
  6. If I am a few days late eating my thicker food, will my sleeve get smaller? I know, I know ... but after my last year of not asking health questions, I was always surprised at what I experienced. Essentially, if we use Protein shakes and liquids a wee bit longer post-op, will it create a detrimental effect? TY for replying!
  7. Good MRIs are hard to find. I needed one of my neck and they tried to squeeze me into what they called an open MRI. It looked like a chair set far back into 2 walls. However, I was too large to even get into the small spot to sit. They tried to turn my sideways and I started cramping up. In the one I was flat on my back, they wanted me to keep my arms above my head and squirm in. Seriously, W T Eff? No blood would reach my arms in that amount of time in that tight of a squeeze. Just because these people "got an education" does not mean they understand the plight of the obese.
  8. My Dr. is far more strict with adding foods as I heal. I'm on week three now and just added Protein shakes to my Water and broth. I believe I can now add "strained", as in zero bits of solid food, creamed Soups. I don't like Jello, I do love my bone broths however. BTW. Is it OK to add potato flakes (do they continue to expand in the stomach after heating and dissolving stove top?) as a thickener to broth instead of buying those Campbell's Soups and straining them? I forgot to ask my nutritionist. She did say I could use my broth and add a tiny bit of cream or half and half to give it more of a body and texture. I
  9. Well now I'm super curious about this post. =( I'm not a lawyer, but a newbie post op.

    Scared

I talked to all of my anesthesiologists a lot before surgery. Just spend some time with her or him, they will introduce themselves to you. Ask them ANYTHING. I am a chronic pain patient, so I tell them going in that their tiny little "martinis" might not work on me. They laugh. One said to me once, that he could throw everything at me until I stopped breathing and then they bring me back from that. They're very good. Not to worry about not waking up. They use monitors for your brain activity, monitors for your breathing, monitors for oxygen levels, brain health, organ health, they have everything timed precisely from the minute they relax you until they get a breathing tube in you and sedated for surgery. I remember one time I told one of the Dr.s that he'd better watch my brain activity, because I did not want to wake up during surgery! =) He lol'd and said that a bell would go off. They listen to all kinds of beeps. He said I'd only have a problem if he suddenly went deaf during the procedure. =)

Sorry Did you get the lap band or gastric sleeve?

What scares you the most? Because I am a walking anxiety attack! =D

    Hungry

Thank you for this, So are you saying that us newbies "only a month or two out or less" who are early post op are going to have more acid reflux in the early healing stages? I have been experiencing what feels like the hunger sensation. And I am sipping whenever I am awake for sure, way over 67 ounces of water w/ nothing added. TY.

    Pain under boobs

My left arm stabbing pains started 9 days out and have now vanished 12 days out. It was weird. I have changed the way I'm sleeping, on a wedge pillow. Some say it's still CO2 at your stage.

    Vitamins after surgery

I've noticed that the Vitamins do seem to burn a little ... I just can't seem to understand when to do what. SO. I too was told I can take anything I did before upon discharge, just no NSAIDS. But really, the past two days I did buy the Calcium citrate and I also used a fizzy 1000mg Vitamin C and I just think it's too soon. (? I'm 12 days post op now and got a good barium swallow test) Maybe I wasn't told to use this soon, more answers would be greatly appreciated. Because now I am paranoid I am giving myself acid reflux after hospital release. I'm having my mom help me go over it again.
  16. All of the above and you can try to make some "Bone Broth". Try to find organic grass fed bones. Beef, Lamb, chicken, Look for stores near you. If not, just slowly cook whatever bones you can find. You tube is full of various methods of making it so you get the most nutrients out of it. Just slow cook it, if it get's to a rolling boil you can cook off some of the collagen and immune boosting nutrients, may take 24 hours! Benefit, if you like "bone broth", this can be part of your post op and you can freeze it in aluminum muffin tins or ice cube trays!

    Maybe a late stage complication?

I'm anxious for your results, too! I hope you are feeling ok and not too anxious!
  18. Good News! I had my second post op leak test, barium swallow today and no leaks! I actually asked the Dr. to let me do it twice so I could watch it. It happens so fast on the screen once you watch the barium pass from the esophagus into the new stomach tube, then settle at the bottom. SO very cool to watch! No leaks! Good check up, 10 days out things are going as smoothly as they should be. *happy happy* I get to add Protein shakes now to my Water and broth routine. And I've even lost 21.5 pounds. Since surgery that is. Amazing. I'm really less concerned about weight loss now than I am being careful, compliant and healing my body. So I'm just so relieved at this stage. Next Stages on the way!
  19. Yesterday was the first day I went out on errands, with my mother. I went to one small farm store for more broth ingredients, and one regular grocery store. The day before, I did some light yard work. My surgery date was feb 1st, My first follow up is tomorrow at 1pm. But yesterday after errands, 4pm ish, I was moving around and had stabbing shoulder pains, and also stabbing hip pains with it. Now that I've read leaks can cause pain , what exactly is the shoulder pain like? Because it went away, and has not returned except for just now getting on the keyboard and it was light, not at all like yesterday. What does a "leak" shoulder pain feel like? Is it constant? I'm a nervous wreck, happy and feeling good, then sad and anxious as heck! I'm so ready for some nutrition, too. Really, Clear liquids is reminiscent of the teen anorexia competitions! *sigh* Signed -bad mood, nervous ...no, terrified. PS no fever, blood pressure is normal, I'm just extra tired today like I need nutrients. I've been using bone broth, Water. I do not like Jello and popsicles. I'll try Powerade zero, but all artificial sweeteners are the first note I taste in anything, it's sad, not a fan. Oh well, rambling now, thank you. I have been using my arms for boosting myself up more than ever and sleeping upright-ish on a wedge pillow.
  20. While on my 2 week pre op diet, my blood pressure was normal to medium high. At times it was even normal low. After the Gastric Sleeve surgery on Feb 1st , I was in the hospital for 2 days, they kept me off my 20mg lisinopril. I've been home 3 days now and yesterday my BP was creeping back up. I had started introducing half my prescription back, 10mg. Now I am back up to 20mg because yesterday I was back up to about 145/95. Then before bed last night, down to 122/77. This sort of freaks me out. Has this happened to anyone else? I mean ... I'm on liquids. I'm not eating or introducing things to cause high BP. I took my 20mg this morning. But just checked and darn if I'm not still medium high. I do have clonodine to help. Took a half of that. Didn't seem to help. Maybe I am overreacting. Anyway. I've been on 40mg before. So I just took another half, that totals 30 now. 20mg at 11am and 10 mg at 6pm. I really thought that I'd be on the low side of BP readings considering it was low in the hospital and I'm on Clear Liquids.

    Blood Pressure

I'm sorry. Must be just the stress of being off the meds for a few days then getting back on them and settled back in to them. I am finally normalized again after about 4 days back home from the hospital. I hope you normalize soon!
  22. Oh thank you all so much! Tomorrow I get a barium swallow test, I'll check back in. Bless you! That's why I love this site, most of you have 'been there, done that' *hugs* Amelie

    February 2016 sleevers?

Yep! Start asking your pharmacist if what you need to take comes in liquid form. I only had to take pain mends in liquid form the first week. If you need or want to do it this way, as your pharmacist maybe you can make the switch. Also ... I think I learned that If I used liquid medicine, I needed to let it sit a bit. I had been washing it down with water. Not sure if it affected efficacy but I did my own test and I think it did make a difference.
