This is true to some degree, not for me though.I was a mild alcoholic before surgery .I am 17 months out of surgery and I hate liquor. Some ppl I know are full blown alcoholics and gain weight back.

Well the nurse called me and "read" the results from the upper gi...said my stomach was approaching the normal size again. I go in to meet with my doc to talk in a couple weeks.
As far as the weight gain it is because of my food choices awhile back but i never over ate, only ate a cup, I would snack a bit but not a meal or continuously, never ate and drank, haven't had anything carbonated since before my surgery, so all these myths people are saying that it cannot stretch are apparently not true lol.
Basically I was talking to my dietitian and what she wanted me to do and what my surgeon wants me to do are completely opposite. I have realized that having my sleeve stretched would NOT cause weight gain but it would be the calories in vs calories out...which obviously I didn't do so good with but Iv been back on track for a month or so and finally started to see the weight go down which was NICE!

I had my sleeve on 1/15. Diluted apple juice has been my saving grace. I do a 1:1 ratio for 8 oz, and that winds up being only 29 calories which isn't too bad.

Bariastic has a really good food/weight tracker for people who have done WLS. And it even has a barcode scanner for things if you can't find the food in the search bar/menu.

I'm 6'1 and think you can do it! Us tallies store weight in the darnedest places, and if your BMI is higher, 100 in 3 months is definitely possible. Just stay focused.

Fluids are tough to get in...esp Protein. But once you get them in, it keeps your BP and temperature down. You can do it! Just focus on what you can stomach. For me Popsicles and apple juice are everything. Day 2 before being discharged from the hospital my nutritionist advised that my goal was 48-64oz a day, and that the closer to 64 I can get, the better.
@@cindyw41 - I got my sleeve done on the 15th and started my period about 48-hours before surgery, and now on day 9 it's still going. It sucks! But super glad to know I'm not the only one.

Afrikanaaa got a reaction from Chrystee in When did you start exercising?
My doctor actually released me with no restrictions. His recommendation was 1 mile to 3 1/2 miles every day. Lift weights within moderation (listen to your body)
At the hospital was walking as soon as I was awake. Next day did the same thing. I took my first day off when I got home from the hospital, but have been in the gym walking and taking Zumba ever since.

    Hi! I'm tall. ????
    I'm 6'1. 25 years old.
    Highest weight: 322 (in November).
    Pre-surgery: 319.
    Day of surgery: 314.
    Currently (9 days out): 298.
My surgeon's goal weight for me is 200. My primary care's goal is 210. I don't remember ever being in the 100's. I was 200 lbs in middle school. And even when I played basketball in college I was a firm (very muscular) 220.

Afrikanaaa got a reaction from JenniferP1 in Become a vegetarian maybe?
I am a vegan, and have been for 2+ years, and haven't had dairy for even longer than that. Going into surgery my nutritionist advised that I'd probably have to use whey sources for Protein because there's no other way I'd be able to get the adequate amount of without exceeding my liquid goal but my body still isn't used to it. Although it's been a little over 3 weeks (pre & post-op), my body is fighting the whey. ????
And post-op I'll definitely have to go veggie for Protein.< /p>

I'm still pre-op but one lady I spoke to (who has lost a LOT of weight but I don't know her well enough to ask detailed questions) responded this way:
    Me: "Wow! You look incredible!"
Her: "Thank you so much; I have been working really hard."
Conversation done. It was seriously the most satisfying answer I've heard yet from anyone I've seen lose weight.
