    I'm a mess.

I wish you all the luck with your surgery!
  2. I only do full fat as well. I don’t eat a lot of it though.
  3. Thank you! Going to check it out right now xo
  4. Yup. I'm facing this right now and it's hard work. At least the OP knows herself well enough to recognize the struggles she will face (unlike myself). I have really limited access to psychological help where I live. Any good books to recommend for myself and the OP?

    low energy post op

This was my biggest complaint after surgery. It slowly got better and by 7-8 weeks it was completely gone. I took lots of naps! It will go away so just do what your body is telling you.

    I'm a mess.

When was your surgery? Yup, I got complacent and lazy. No more!

    I'm a mess.

How come you can't have the dinner you made? Unless you breaded the chops it sounds on plan. Am I wrong? Maybe this is part of my struggle. So you asked what happens before I eat the bad food. The thing is, nothing. It's easy to eat lousy and requires more work (planning and preparation) to eat well. Also, once I eat carbs I crave more carbs and then I feel awful when I eat them AND because they're usually not dense I can eat much more. It's literally everything I've read on here since I joined. The good news is I did really well today. Got 100 grams of protein in and all my water and a walk. Emotionally I feel better just by taking back some control. Thanks for helping.
  8. Whoa! You look amazing, Laura! Congratulations!

    I'm a mess.

Thanks you two. I'm such an all or nothing type of person and it's not worked out well for me to be that way. It's crazy because I honestly didn't think I had many food issues. Just that I ate the wrong stuff. I was so wrong. I got the issues for sure. I'll try that approach, Julie. If I continue to struggle I'm going to make an appt to speak to someone. I also need to stay active on this board. It definitely helps and as soon as I started eating lousy I avoided coming here. I want to be successful! Thanks again.
  10. Does losing slowly really help with loose skin? What's your experience? Any slow losers who've not needed plastics?
  11. Joann454

    True or false?

My highest weight (start of preop diet) was 258. Day of surgery 242. Current 212. I'd like to get to 145. I'm 5'3" So it'd be 113 lbs. I'm thinking I'll have loose skin.

    Depression [emoji20]

I'm really sorry to read this. Hopefully it's just situational depression and will resolve as you heal. I didn't suffer from it but I just wanted to let you know that you're definitely not alone. I've read lots of stores on here. Try doing a search and you'll find the stories too. Feel better.
  13. I was seeing this all over Facebook about a month ago. Yikes

    Shitataki noodle???

I love zoodles too. Some sautéed chicken and a little alfredo sauce. Yup.
  15. Joann454

    True or false?

I'm unsure if I want to do plastics. I guess it depends how I feel and if the skin is bothersome. Way into the future here. I do like the thought of the shifting in time. I've read that a few times. Fingers crossed for us!

    Just curious!

I refused to weigh myself because so many people gained weight due to IV fluids and swelling. I was just focused on healing.

    True or false?

Introversion, I was actually hoping you'd respond because I remembered you were a slow loser. I didn't realize you were so young though. Ugh, the deck is stacked against me. I'm 53, white, and out of shape. Oh well, as someone on here once said, we should consider loose skin a badge of honor.
  18. I use the app. In order to update my info I have to go on my laptop which I use infrequently. I too wish the app was a little more user friendly.
  19. Most of us could lose weight but keeping it off is a whole lot different. Lose the weight the dr wants you to. If you're working with a team they should know the insurance ins and outs. I was told not to go below 230 before surgery. The team was very aware of my insurance guidelines. Shoot them an email and ask what is the lowest you can go for insurance purposes. Definitely don't "prove a point" by doing the 1500 kcal diet. You don't want to ruin any chance you have. To your original question. I was all over the place with my weight at my weigh ins. I did lose the initial weight they wanted me to by surgery though. They read me the riot act at my second to last weigh in. I ended up dropping 15 lbs in two weeks after that and they were happy! God I hated that whole phase! You'll be glad when it's in the rear view mirror too.

I want to but can I

I felt exactly the same way before surgery. I was overwhelmed and a hot mess. To the point where psych evaluated me as a risk. I gained weight before the preop diet. I did lose 15'lbs once I went on the preop diet but before that oy, I just kept gaining. I truly didn't think they were going to approve me. Even after I still struggle every day and feel like I make it harder for myself. But I am losing weight and I am trying daily. My point is, you're not unusual in that way. The thing is a 1200 calorie diet pre surgery is hard! That's a strict diet. How much weight do they want you to lose in 15 weeks? How old are you? I found the two week preop diet doable but idk how I would've done over 15 weeks. That's a long time and if I could diet that easily for that long I would've not needed surgery.

    2 Week Follow Up

Lol so how do you know what you're eating calorie wise? Do you track it? Are you weighing and measuring? I could drink a lot too but man, once I started eating protein my restriction kicked in hard!
  22. She doesn't post much or come on here anymore but we met and had lunch last week. She had bypass a month and a half after I had the sleeve. It's been so nice to have her as my friend through this. I live in the sticks so it's been a cool surprise to have met someone so nearby. It was lovely to nibble my food with someone who gets it! If you get the chance to hang out with someone you clicked with on here I recommend it. Pretty cool!
  23. Not a love interest, I realized it could be misconstrued that way from the post title after I posted.

    Advice

You do not look sickly. I had the same comments from some people back in 2001 when I lost a ton of weight on Atkins. He's used to seeing your face a certain way. Sickly is being 100lbs overweight! Good job!
