  1. I wasn't even out of the recovery room in the amount of time that they are expecting you to be discharged in! Do you have the option to stay overnight if you are having a hard time controlling your pain or don't feel ready to go home?
  2. I am 7 days post op and still in a lot of pain at the site of my largest incision and my upper back. I was in the hospital 3 nights afterward because I have a very low tolerance for pain and a morphine IV wasn't touching my pain and dilaudid only lasted 2 hours on the pain. My surgeon prescribed liquid hydrocodone 4 times a day that I started taking day 3 when I got home from the hospital. I really don't like how it makes me feel so the past 2 days I've cut from every 6 hours to every 12. I have been lightly walking several times a day also to try and get rid of the pain if it is still gas related. Also, I'm running out of meds because it was a 5 day supply and going to call my surgeons office today about what to do. I'm definitely feeling better and not in as much pain as I was but the pain is still too much to not take something. Please let me know how some of you were doing pain and meds wise at this point.

    Hernia repair

Did anyone have incisions in their belly button? I just noticed today that I have a few small incisions and surgical glue inside my belly button in addition to my five laparoscopic ones on my belly. Could that have had anything to do with the hiatal hernia my surgeon found or is that normal from the sleeve surgery?

    Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!

That's actually really surprising to me because i couldn't drink anything the first day until I had my upper GI the next morning to recheck for a leak and to make sure there wasn't swelling that restricted liquids from passing through. I also had to be able to urinate and pass gas to leave. I would have felt very uncomfortable with the decision of the hospital to discharge me several hours after surgery.

What Fitness Tracker do you use?

I have a fit bit flex and LOVE it!! I had it for about 3 months and ordered a new band for it and somehow I didn't notice when the clasp opened and it fell off while walking. I called fit bit to see if maybe they had a way to track it or even offer a discount on a new one and they straight out sent me a brand new one complimentary! My sister had an issue with her fit bit flex not holding a charge very long after about a year of owning it and she called Fit Bit and they sent her a complimentary replacement also. Great company!

    Hernia repair

I'm curious to read responses too. I'm 6 days post op and had a small hiatal hernia repaired that my surgeon didn't know about until he was in there. I'm not sure how that is affecting my recovery because i hadn't asked or researched about it in my obsessive researching waiting period pre op!

    1 week post-op

I'm 5 days post op and just starting to feel hungry which is kind of freaking me out. I have had 72g protein and 41g carbs = 522 calories (2 protein shakes and 1 Greek yogurt) I'm sipping crystal light thinking it is head hunger but it doesn't feel like it. Did your hunger go away? I'm scared that my sleeve isn't working.

    Surgery day!

Get up and walk about 15 minutes after you get each dose or or every other dose and walk for a few minutes. I brought a pillow on my walk and kept it pushed against my belly. I found that getting the pain meds and then waiting 15 minutes allowed me the least amount of pain when walking and helped my body to relax and let some of the gas come out in burps. I had a hard time getting the gas out when I wasn't relaxed from the meds and walking. Good luck!

    1st phase post op

Mashed potatoes are not anywhere on my list for any of the phases after surgery because they contain no protein and are slider foods. Something like Greek yogurt would take away that hungry feeling and keep you full.

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?

Have you tried the fair life brand milk? It's real (cows milk) and tastes the same as regular milk (I'm picky) lol. The difference is that fair life has 13g protein vs 8 in regular milk and has only 6g sugar vs 12 in regular milk.

    Calories Post Op

I'm only 5 days post op and on full liquids but my NUT has never said anything about a calorie goal... Just carbs, protein, fluids. Right now I'm having a protein shake for breakfast, light and fit Greek yogurt for lunch, and another shake for dinner. This is about 500 calories and meets my carbs under 50g and 60-80 protein rules. I feel like as long as I'm focused on low carbs/high protein calories don't matter too much. I can't imagine that it's possible to even consume many calories on 60-80g protein and less than 50g carbs.
  12. I'm 4 days post op and wondering about how long it should be taking me to finish a shake. Preop I drank them fast because I don't like the taste and I could gulp with a straw. Now I'm having a hard time drinking them.
  13. My fiancé was great and did it with me or ate real food outside the house while I was on preop liquids. Post op I am in a lot of pain but my pain tolerance in general is very low. The worst pain comes from drinking for me but it is better if I am walking and drinking at the same time. Where are you having yours done?
  14. Hi! I'm a little further out.. 3 days post op but I too had a hard time with the liquids in the evening. I had been a nighttime snacker and that change threw me for a loop. The first couple of days I had to take a Xanax and just get to sleep! It did get much easier every day!
  15. I did ask for different meds and was originally given morphine which did absolutely nothing. Pain has gotten better overnight and I have been okay on just the oral hydrocodone.
