  1. When you get home and realize that you purchased the wrong size in a shirt and your friend says, "It looks like it'll fit" and she's right! As an adult, I've never fit into a size medium before! I thought the sizing must be completely off so I went shopping the next day and wouldn't you know it, I fit into size mediums at multiple stores!
  2. I have two - one in my belly button and one for the drain.
  3. I was searching for this topic and came across this thread. After my surgery, I'm now lactose intolerant. I'm four months out and I can tolerate a tiny bit of cheese or yogurt, but too much of either or any amount of milk and I get stomach pain and diarrhea. I hope this is a temporary effect and goes away eventually!

    Telling people

I just wrote this in another thread but I haven't told anyone that I had surgery. I've just been telling people who ask that I'm watching my portions and nobody (that I know of) has put two and two together. I agree with the others who've said it's your choice what to share and with whom. You don't owe anyone an explanation and if people are surprised with the rate of weight loss, tell them the semi-truth that you've changed your eating habits and are exercising. Alternatively, if you wish you share with others that you're having surgery, then do whatever makes you happy!
  5. I had my surgery 3 months ago and to this day I have not told a single person and I don't see the need to. People have commented that I eat very little, but (to my knowledge) nobody has made the connection that it's related to surgery. I've just told people I'm watching my portion sizes.
  6. I feel like Dr. Garcia is growing in popularity. When I had my surgery with him a couple of months ago there weren't many recent mentions of him, which was one of my concerns. It may just be a coincidence, but I see his name cropping up more often now and I haven't heard anything negative. Best of luck to you all!
  7. @@spammie2002 I just noticed this post now, my apologies! I hope you're doing well after your surgery. For anyone else who is curious: I did have a timing issue with the transportation from San Diego to Tijuana, but the rest of the experience was great. The hospital was very nice and the staff were extremely attentive. I'm happy with my choice of doctor.
  8. As everyone else has said, don't be discouraged! 15 pounds in a month, and 44 since surgery, is nothing to sneeze at! Even if you weren't beating the average... that's a lot of weight to lose in two months. You're doing well!

    One month post op

I had my surgery on 1/18/2016, so I too am about 5 weeks out. My pre op weight was 209.8. I don't know what my surgery weight was but I would estimate somewhere around 200. My current weight is about 182.5.
  10. @@spammie2002 I'm doing well! I was really groggy the day of the surgery due to the effects of the anesthetic, but after that it's been mostly smooth sailing. I didn't have any gas pain and just a little bit of soreness at the incision site (I had SILS). The hospital is pretty nice but it is small. You'll get to know the people who have surgery on the same day as you because there's really just the one hallway to walk in. Good luck!
  11. Hi - I had surgery with Dr. Garcia in January. I was nervous because I couldn't find a lot of recent feedback on him, but I had a great experience. I'd definitely recommend him.
  12. I've landed in San Diego! Unfortunately, my experience hasn't started off right - my flight was delayed and the driver will not be returning until 7 pm (I landed at 1 pm). Unfortunately, I've left the gate areas and there isn't much to do in the pre-security area. I'm looking for a place that I can find broth... No luck yet.
  13. Fellow Canadian here (Toronto)... getting sleeved in 4 days!
  14. I booked my flight today, Jan 11, and I fly into San Diego Jan 17. I'm paying a little bit more than I would have if I had booked a few weeks ago, but it's not a deal breaker.
  15. daniellepb, there's not too many recent posts regarding Dr. Garcia, so it's comforting to know you had a positive experience! Good luck with reaching your goal!
