    Pain Meds?

I had liquid hydrocodone 5mg/375mg (it's got Tylenol in it) and I alternated that with a shot of extra strength liquid adult Tylenol (500 mg). After I got home though, I really only needed the hydrocodone to sleep at night for about a week the rest I just stuck to regular doses of Tylenol every 4-6 hours. It all depends on how you tolerate pain. I will say though, stay on top of the pain don't try to wait and see if it will get worse bc it takes forever for the pain meds to kick in when you're feeling crappy.

    Need help please

If your surgeons office doesn't have a nutritionist on staff I highly recommend you find one. They will let you know what you should eat after surgery (and before if that's needed, I didn't have a pre-op diet either, I was 225 when I started this process). My surgeons office had a NUT on staff and she's fabulous, if I ever have a question (like can/should I eat this) I email her, she's always available and it's been such a huge support!! Good luck to you, it's a big decision. I was just about where you are weight wise when I made the decision to have surgery (oct. 12th) and it wasn't easy, I had a ton of people telling me i wasn't fat enough and shouldn't I be able to do it without surgery. The answer was always no and I'm so happy to be and feel healthy, for the first time in my adult life I fit in jeans that have single digits for a size

    SF popsicles

I call them my dinosaur noises, my niece and nephew really think I'm harboring a dinosaur in my belly [emoji23]
  4. I'm 3 months out and didn't do the sugar free thing, I don't mind stevia it doesn't bother my stomach so I like oikos triple zero yogurt and Water flavor drops at target that list stevia and fruit juice as ingredients. It's hard but I don't necessarily think sugar free is all that great, Whole Foods are much better you just have to watch portions and make sure you don't over do it and sabotage your weight loss. Healthy is where it's at, not chemicals. Oh and I forgot to add, hot chocolate really helped me with water I have 1 packet of Swiss miss milk chocolate and add a little fair life milk. Also Popsicles!!!! Omg I ate them all the time after surgery when I was in full liquids.

I had one pre op, it diagnosed my Hiatial hernia. Also had one post op to check for leaks. I did not enjoy them but there are worse things out there! Good luck [emoji256]

Posting about fast food and unhealthy junk

But the poster specifically said they didn't want to hear about the healthy alternatives at fast food restaurants. They wanted to know about the crap. And they didn't want any successful vets to tell them it was a bad idea - judgers and stone throwers weren't welcome. The truth wasn't welcome. Just reinforcement of what they wanted to hear - that fast food isn't the slippery slope everyone knows it is. What is the point of posting in a support group forum if you're just going to seek out bad advice and don't want to hear the truth? I don't get it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App That's when people like us (people who don't want to sabotage our own success) scroll by and leave it be. Why stress about someone else's non compliance, they will either figure it out or fail all on their own. And by posting on their thread we are just giving them ammunition to post stupid stuff again to get the right minded people bent just for sh*ts and giggles. Whether they are a troll or just looking for validation why give them the pleasure. That's how I feel anyways

Posting about fast food and unhealthy junk

I think if someone really wants to go right back to eating crap that's their prerogative and then they will b*tch that "surgery didn't work for them" to anyone that will listen. I just smile and say "that's too bad" and go on my merry way. As for posting, I usually breeze past the "I ate total crap 2 days out from surgery" it's not for me and it neither helps me nor enhances my life to comment to the poster. I will however, comment if it looks like that person is trying to avoid old habits and just needs some guidance. Like, it's totally unrealistic to think someone isn't ever going to go out to eat or maybe have something that isn't the greatest (like pb&j) but if I can make a suggestion that might make it a healthier option I'll chime in- I think that's what people are looking for a lot of times is just someone to give them a "try this, not that" suggestion. It's not for me to judge, they are not living my life nor am I living theirs.

    Fast Food Questions

@@OutsideMatchInside I'm sorry my units of measurement were not accurate. But Regardless of how many bites I eat or ounces I personally hate wasting money. It's a personal thing and it's also how I talk myself out of eating junk food it seems to work for me. At 3 months out I'm still eating smaller quantities, for Protein I could not eat a whole burger (bunless or otherwise) it's just how I roll (roll-less lol pun intended ) I don't know how much I can actually eat, I don't measure, I eat my protein first most meals (I'm not saint believe me!) and just eat until I get that full feeling (2 bites, 10 bites, 4 oz who knows...) my dr is ecstatic says I will hit goal by spring much earlier than he had ever anticipated so that makes me smile

    Fast Food Questions

Why waste the money on something I will take literally 4 bites of and throw the rest away. Fast food (French fries, hamburgers etc.) doesn't reheat well so if I eat out I try to stick to food that is as healthy as I can find AND will reheat so I'm not pouring money down the drain. My sister had sleeve surgery 2 years ago and I just had mine in October, we went to Red Robin the other night with my niece and nephew. She and I split a banzai turkey burger, we both took the bun off, ate a half of our halves and got the rest to go home. It worked out great and I had another meal from it later on.

    Borderline BMI

I had a low bmi when I started the process and wished I weighed just a tiny bit more, it probably would have made the whole process easier for me. My bmi was 36 but I had hypertension and mild sleep apnea. I had comments all the time of, "but you're not that fat" and same as you got looked at when I wore a bathing suit by skinny people wondering how in the world I crammed myself into that thing. It's such a cruel world, I fought for a year to get my insurance to pay, that included paying a company (which worked wonders) to appeal on my behalf. My insurance argued my blood pressure wasn't high enough, I had been on meds just about my whole life for it though. Finally the state agreed and made the insurance reverse the denial. 3 months with my new sleeve later, my bmi is almost normal, no more bp meds, no more sleep apnea and to be honest I know I look better and won't get stares in a bathing suit anymore but I don't care so much about that. I just wanted to be healthy!!!! Everyone is different, we all have different motivations and it's not fair for someone to get called out for them. We all deserve to be happy and to get there by any means possible
  11. @@LittleBill congrats!! You look great, I'm right there with ya my 3 month surgiversary (as they say on here lol) is tomorrow!! October 12th was my day [emoji4] like I've said before I love your stories and following your progress makes me smile.

    Airport Security Curiosity

Lol...your stories crack me up. I'm very familiar with the Philly airport (I try to avoid it at all costs) being from Albany, Philly is the closest hub to here aside from NYC area airports. I traveled for work for 2 years...the stories I could tell

    PB&J

What about making a pb&j Protein shake instead? We have a juice bar near my house that does them, I took a sip of my nephews and it was pretty good. I'm sure from the juice bar it was loaded with tons of sugar and crap but I was thinking of making one myself with frozen strawberries, PB2 and some Protein powder. Pinterest has tons of fun stuff to try that's alternative to the calories and carbs too. like cloud bread that has no carbs with whipped pb and sugar free jelly, that might curve your craving without indulging too too much. I wouldn't make a habit of pb&j but making it less calorific might help so you don't feel like you're depriving yourself of a treat once in a while.

She must have had a real beef with you. Hahaha you lighten up my day @@LittleBill - thank you she sure did have a beef with me. It was even through the pre check lane!

    Airport Security Curiosity

They shouldn't bother you unless the Protein is in liquid form....however, I do say that with some hesitation, last year I was practically hauled off to tsa jail for a beef Jerky stick lol. The lady tsa agent was so not impressed that all I was harboring was beef jerky **wait....it was a turkey stick not beef!
