my comfort food : Tonight I took a head of cauliflower, boiled it until slightly stiff, then drained it, placed it on a baking sheet, spread greek yogurt mixed with crushed garlic over the entire head, graded some parm. cheese to finish it, then into the oven@ 450 for 20min. Wow! it was delicious! When eating it, I sprinkled hot sauce--just a few drops on . Full of flavor.

I decided that today I needed to get up and get going. I went into work for an hour, and then I went to the YMCA with my best friend. got in30 minutes on the treadmill. Not near as fast as I usually walk, and with no incline today, but I am very pleased that I was able to do the whole thirty minutes only three days out from surgery. The added benefit, was that it seemed to help a bit with all the gas!!

I am slow too, week 12 and down 28 pounds.. Much slower than other people but I KNOW there is no way I could have lost that weight otherwise-(I tried!)..
So .. I am happy with my slow and steady loss. 1-2pounds a week is ok with me, I haven't lost any hair yet and my skin will hopefully bounce back better.
Don't compare yourself, take a deep breath and just have confidence in yourself and your program to succeed.

First off, you didn't have success with phentermine. You gained the weight back, didn't you?
Second, 20 pounds in 6 weeks is a perfectly acceptable number. I don't know what your stats are, but I'd be willing to bet you're a lower BMI. That always makes a difference in the rate we lose weight. Age and gender a are also good indicators of rate of loss.
What's your hurry? Will you turn into a pumpkin or something if you don't get to goal by a certain date?
It took me a year to lose 85 pounds, and an additional 5 months to lose 10 more. How long it took me doesn't matter one bit. The fact that I got there and am maintaining it does.
Just keep working your program, learn as much as you can about excersise and nutrition to be the healthiest you can be, and don't fret about how fast you're losing. It's negative thinking and counterproductive to you goals.

I found that marching in place while sipping helped me get more Water and and helped alleviate the gas pain at the same time. Give that a try. And hang in there. Do as much as you can for Protein and water and movement each day, but also don't push yourself too far too fast. Nap a lot!

Tomorrow is my big day! I am very excited, and a bit nervous. Not really nervous about starting my new life, more nervous about the actual getting put to sleep, and the procedure. Worried about possible complications and things of that sort. Once the surgery is done, I am sure I will be here on the boards continually for questions, advice, tips and tricks. I am very glad that there is a place where we can get support on our journeys.

My final straw moment wasn't a moment, but a series of moments.
    1. Having a hard time getting up and down to the floor to play with my grandson.
    2. My feet, legs, and back in constant pain, especially after work each night.
    3. Huffing and puffing over the lightest of exertion.
    4. Having to get larger and larger clothes.
There are many more, but those are a few, not to mention that I want to be healthy and see my grandson grow up.

My surgeon has all his patients follow a two week high Protein, low fat, low carb diet. My clinic has made it very easy for us, in that they have a store where you buy your entire two week diet for under 100.00. It has been a wonderful stress reliever to have everything I need, on hand and easy to prepare.

I understand completely. I decided not to share numbers with anyone. Not even my mother. If some one asks how much I have lost I just say "a lot". If they press for a number I just tell them I don't share numbers with anyone, not even my mother. That usually is the end of it.
You don't owe anyone details and frankly I find it rude when people ask about my weight other than to compliment me on how great I look!

I was sleeved September 8th, my overall starting weight was 300 pounds and I'm currently down to 219. I know I am super proud of this loss. BUT, last week one of my customers ( has no clue of my surgery) asked how much weight I've lost. I told her I had no clue and that I only go by my clothes. I am embarrassed to say how much weight I've lost. I just don't won't anyone to look at what I've done so far and say that I still have such a long way to go. Or know exactly just how heavy I had gotten. Has anyone else felt this way?

@@saffron280 - welcome to the BP family. It is scary. I had the same worries, but the fear of diabetes, other health issues and getting heavier far out weighed (bad pun) the fear of surgery itself. I had no issues and still no REGRETS, only, like others - that I didn't do it earlier!

I have my surgery on the 12th. I don't have as much to accomplish before surgery as you do, but I know the next ten days are going to be very busy. Today is day two of my pre-surgery diet. I have felt slightly hungry all day, but no real loss of energy. Just keep reminding yourself that this is a temporary thing, and what the rewards are going to be. That is my plan of action for when I am really hungry, and I am hoping that it works.
