    Constantly Hungry!

I hit 2 weeks tomorrow. I've gotten hungrier and hungrier. I have my first follow up tomorrow. Should get moved to mushy foods, and expect a stronger reflux med. currently on Pepcid.
  2. Sometimes they delay an ultrasound because they know they can't get a definitive answer too early. You might see a gestational sac at 5 weeks. A fetal pole at 6. But the heartbeat often doesn't show up until 7 weeks. You could be experiencing a chemical pregnancy. An embryo that tried to implant but just couldn't hang on. I'm sorry your doctors are so careless with their treatment. I hope you get a firm answer soon so you can start to process. And I hope it's the results you want.
  3. Not my goals, specifically. But my mother still has: my bat mitzvah dress, the dress I wore to my 8th grade graduation dance, and my junior and senior prom dresses. Mind you I was somewhere between chubby and fat for all of these. But methinks I might dig them out and try them on come thanksgiving. (I'm not quite 2 weeks post op now. Goal is a long way off.)
  4. Rvamom-are you in Richmond va? I had surgery 2/4 in Richmond. And have 2 kids. If you want to connect locally.
  5. My dietician said no Probiotics for the first 2 weeks. But colace is ok. And mirilax. But constipation is going to be a common side effect. And being right there-i was fine week one band now just had my first poop in 4 days. Week 2. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  6. I'm almost a week post op and almost every single sip is followed by one, or many, burps. The surgical gas pain is gone, except for the new gas with each sip. But I don't really want to go sit in my cubicle and burp all day long. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    need help

Not all pre op diets are liquids only. Mine was 2 Protein shakes, 1 serving if Greek yogurt/cottage cheese, 3-4 cups of vegetables, and 3-4 ounces of lean protein. If your dr wants liquids only that's what you should do. But know that it's not a universal recommendation and if your dinner is small and healthy you likely have done no harm. Question on Unjury

No flavor. It can be mixed into hot or cold. So good for broth or Jello or milk..... Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    Question on Unjury

The GENEPRO mixed into hot broth very nicely. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  10. I bought the GENEPRO as recommended here. They sell single serve packs so you can sample it, and easily take it out. I mixed it with broth today and it mixed in very well and I didn't notice it at all. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    Vision Changes Post WLS

Really? I'd think that 24 hours without the patch my system would be clear. But at least I still have hope that my vision returns to normal. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    Vision Changes Post WLS

Glad to see this thread. I'm 5 days post op and I suddenly can't see. My prescription (recently updated) isn't strong enough for distance. I can't see close up with my glasses on. And I can't see intermediate distance with or without my glasses. I had hoped it was the anti nausea patch but it's been more than 24 hrs and not better yet. I really hope this stabilizes soon and I can see. Without buying ANOTHER new pair of glasses. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    Nectar protein powder

You can order the samples through http://Store.BariatricPal.com. For tons of different brands. I liked the roadside lemonade so just ordered a bunch more. But my dr doesn't consider these Meal Replacements. Just Protein supplements. Since I'm less than a week post op I need to try to get the Meal Replacement shakes in. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  14. I'm also 4 days post op. So far I haven't finished one. Seriously. I had one the day after surgery that took all day. Saturday all day I managed about half a premier shake. Today I tried a Syntrax nectar "shake". Got the whole thing down over 4 hours. I just can't do the heavy shakes yet. I ordered more of the syntrax in different flavors. Try Nashuanutrition.com. They sell samples of lots of different powders so you can try before you invest a lot of money b Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  15. Many insurance policies in Virginia do cover it. I know there has been an effort to get the legislature to require insurance companies cover it, but no success yet. But many Anthem policies in VA include coverage. Not sure about the independent marketplace options. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  16. While I know it's not anyone's first choice, the odds of conceiving at 44+ are slim no matter your weight. Very very slim, despite any amount of medical intervention. You might also research donor egg programs to see if any feel like a good fit for you. You will be healthy to carry a pregnancy and have much much higher chance of conception (70% vs less than 7%.) Best of luck. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    ~2 Week Liquid Diet~

Good to know the first 3 days are the worst, as today was day 3 for me. Actually days 1 and 2 were fine. But we've had over a foot of snow so I did a lot of shoveling today. Thankfully mine is not 100% liquid. I had my premier shake and my Greek yogurt snsck together, before going out to shovel. I still ended up feeling slightly lightheaded until after I ate dinner. I also used the snow day to make my own chicken broth. Much better than store bought. So much so that I drank a mug while moving the Soup from the pot to Containers, and ended up not eating the vegetables I was allowed at dinner. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  18. Someone here recommended an app called baritastic. I am running side by side with my fitness pal right now-on liver reduction diet. So far what I like about baritastic is the Water tracking and reminders. You can set alarms for time after a drink till you can eat and v.v. And for learning to chew more. They seem to have support groups and other features I am not using. But do not seem to have a recipe calculator. Mfp doesn't track water or have the alarms. Which I imagine are most helpful the first few months. And I hate that it always opens to the home page vs staying on the diary page. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  19. My dr does a 2 week pre op diet. 2 Meal Replacement shakes a day. 1 dairy snsck-Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. 2-3 cups vegetables and 3-4 ounces lean Protein, that can be split into 2 meals if desired. At the surgery class I think they said 1 hard boiled egg counts as 1 oz protein. Does this sound right? I bought a 2-pack of eggs at wawa this morning and it was 3 oz total. Thanks. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  20. Thanks. I got smart. The package said a serving size was 2 cups and had 2 servings. I was able to use the food scale to get half and not make more dirty dishes! Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  21. Thanks! Next question-spinach. Do I measure by volume? Pack it into a measuring cup? Can I measure by weight? Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    A good birth control?

I have pcos. I love love love my mirena. On my 3rd (1st was before kids, then got pregnant with my oldest first try, using medication, got another mirena, had another kid, and now I have my 3rd.) best thing ever. And if you want to have kids later, pcos isn't as challenging as I was told it would be when I was younger. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
  23. I'm just over 2 weeks out from surgery. Also a single mom. My kids are 6 and 3. I had to wait till my youngest was out of the crib and able to get herself into the car seat. It was 4 weeks before I can lift her weight. So I started the process when she was newly 2, and am having surgery when she is 3.75. Due to the lifting issue. Make sure you have a plan for the crib, meals, and car seat. Lifting too much too soon can lead to a hernia. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    Official: FitBit Thread

Anyone have tips for the Fitbit plus shopping? My SIL gave me a Flex, I wear it on my wrist. But it basically doesn't count steps when I am pushing a shopping cart. I have checked, and after 5-10 steps holding the handle it stops counting. So a trip through costco might clock in at 200-300 steps. It is frustrating that a weekend day running errands I log so few steps when my feet are killing me. (I'm still pre op.) tips? Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3

    Shoe size?

I'm curious if your feet had "grown" through your adulthood. I've been wearing the same size shoe since I was 12. I did go from narrow to medium after my 2nd pregnancy. I would be surprised if my shoe size changes with weight loss. Jess, mom to Ysabel, 6 and Maggie, 3
