First, I am sorry you are experiencing this. However, your body is still healing and your hormones are probably going haywire trying to correct themselves after this ordeal of a surgery. Please don't make any major decisions about life at this moment. Give yourself time to heal.
In no way am I justifying your hubby's actions either. Just consider whether he is acting differently than just prior to surgery (not the week after). Is this the type of stuff he does usually at home etc.? Just consider that is all I am saying.
I hope things improve for you.

Wow these threads crack me up. I feel like I am back in high school reading stuff that people post. I havent even had surgery yet but joined this site to see how others adapt and succeed. Instead I see so much negativity and bullying. These are the same people I tell my 21 yr old daughter to avoid. But I think I am going to take a break and find a more positive site as well. I understand that these are people opinions and every one has one but we are also adults and should treat one another as such. I'm really hoping that these are trolls that I am referring to because if they aren't, then there are a lot of unhappy people on this site!

    Or maybe it still is.
So a week ago I joined eHarmony. After a week, there are still NO matches for me within 100 miles. SERIOUSLY??????
I also joined OKCupid. Oyyy. Here's the week's rundown on who has contacted me:
6 guys who claim they are in the army and are deployed overseas. One guy's picture showed him wearing his army uniform incorrectly, and when I called him on it, he said "bye then." One guy who asked me my name (my first name is in my screen name like here). I replied, "Oh c'mon, you know my name." Then when he didn't respond, I said, "I'm losing faith in you, Mr. Smith (the name on his uniform). You know my name. Or is your name really Akwa from Nigeria??" He responded "ok bye". The jury is still out on whether the other 4 are legit or not.
One FBI agent, three Secret Service agents, and one British Intelligence Agent. Of course, NONE of them can really talk about themselves, but will "tell all when we meet". Yeah. Uh huh.
About 25 really bad scammers. Since I used to work for a kink site that had a dating section, I can spot them a mile away. Their messages go like this: "Am John by name. Am kind, am hardworking, am loyal. Seeking for honest woman."
Oh yes, another relatively-new scammer tactic... they use the word TACO in their screen name. Like this: John_taco or Jimbanx_taco. Not sure why they all suddenly think the word "taco" is appropriate.
Another two dozen guys that are looking for someone local (on their profiles) but are a minimum of 1,000 miles away. Not really sure what their deal is.
Two guys that are local to me, and another one 40 miles away. These three I might actually meet. I like the 40-mile guy the most, of course, since that's the one that's the most difficult logistically. For these three, I contacted them first.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the 22 year old who wanted "Mommy-son roleplay." No. Just... no.

Celebrities are just like you and me except they have money. It still does not take away their thoughts, feelings and struggles.
I often read on this site how people have had surgery and still struggle with head hunger. Yea weight may be reduced but for many the urge is still there. I can't fault anyone for their struggle. Hell how many personal trainers have I paid and lbs have I lost. If I want to hire a personal chef I can but that will not reduce my urge to have unhealthy foods. Many celebrities struggle with their weight. Like someone mentioned Kirstie Alley. It just shows you that they are real and have the same struggles that we do. Weight watchers is in it to make a profit and hey if Oprah is who bring in the big bucks then why not. Even if Oprah isnt successful, look how many people will join because of her. If people lose weight, become healthier, live longer because of Oprah's promotion then everyone wins.

The sleeve is an easier surgery. Frankly, I am not surprised he was unable to do the bypass on Nikki. She carried so much of her weight in her abdomen I believe it when he said that he wouldn't be able to make the connection. I am sure that was why he asked her to lose additional weight in the first place.
According to my surgeon the longer a patient is on the table the more risky the surgery. To me a sleeve surgery that takes 45 minutes compared to a complicated surgery that he may not be able to complete seems like a good choice.
Remember, the earliest seasons were filmed 10 years or so ago. A lot has changed in the last few years.

Those of you who think people can't possibly gain all their weight back because thier stomachs are smaller are either in denial or are woefully misinformed. Or both. I mean, how many in this forum alone know someone who gained all their weight back after WLS?

I am in tricare south (humana military). I have my seminar scheduled for 12th of Jan. For me my PCM referred me. BMI 35 and 1 co-morbidity. I was approved with no problem.
I was also told sleeve isn't covered through tricare. However, Our hospital on base does the sleeve and the hospital is covering cost and doesn't go through tricare at all. General surgeon called and scheduled seminar. I stopped in and spoke with nutritionist and she explained that process in more depth. All is required is 2 support groups (1 can be attended pre-op) which is what I did. 1 psych eval. She gave me number for that and said I can have that done prior to seminar as well. Did that last week. When I called and scheduled appt. She submitted to Tricare for approval that day and they covered it 100% next day. I meet with nutritionist same day as seminar. Then labs will need to be done again and meet with surgeon. Thats it. She said since seminar is Jan. then procedure will be Feb or March since December patients are being scheduled for Jan. No out of pocket expense and no tricare authorization. They said once general surgeon office called I was automatically approved! My PCM did not think I would get approved because I'm low BMI for their standards but I got a call few days later. I also spoke with people in support group (pre-op and post-op patients) they all verified that is the process. No 6 mth pre-op diet. Just the liquid diet right before surgery to shrink liver!

Mine was very easy. I met with psychiatrist first. Just conversation about expectations, stress at home, support system. Then I took 370 questionnaire on computer. Very random and he said its same generic test used by military etc. 1st question was do I like mechanic magazines? But it was easy and actually hilarious overall. But don't stress it you, you will do fine!

I've bitched here before about how little value I found the nutritionists in my surgeon's program to be -- although everyone else in the program has been great.
I hear the same thing here about many other patients' NUTs, although a few regulars here (including @@CowgirlJane ) have found much greater value in theirs.
Fortunately, my surgeon's bariatric P.A. is fabulous -- studies her ass off, has lots of good advice, and goes to beaucoups bariatric conferences and knows all the latest research. She's been tremendously useful.
And, of course, I read labels and track my food on www.myfitnesspal.com, which offers a great database about most foods and drinks out there.
Eventually, we all have to take personal responsibility for learning what foods are nutritious, promote weight loss, and weight maintenance. And we have to be willing to be our own little science experiment by trying things out and finding out what works for us.
What works best for me may not work best for you, and vice versa. For instance, my body tolerates a lot of carbs, but some others' bodies can only tolerate low-carb, even in maintenance.

Sorry if this comes off rude but....
I've been here for a little while and have read a lot of topics. Some things I've seen have really surprised me. I'm referring to topics where people ask questions that seem so basic that their surgeon or NUT should have explained to them on day 1. For example, I've seen people ask how much Water they're supposed to drink or how much Protein they need to get. Personally I had to meet with my NUT several times and sign papers saying that they explained everything to me, I got pamphlets and booklets and printouts and powerpoint presentations on what to eat and when along with meal ideas. This was all before I was given a date for surgery.
I'm just wondering if people simply aren't doing enough research ahead of time or if the doctors and nutritionists are dropping the ball.
