Anyone from the Jacksonville, FL area?

My bypass is scheduled for June 15th! Do you have your date yet?

Does it always take 6 months to get a date?

It took me less than 5 months from my first appointment to the date I was approved by BCBS.

    Coinsurance?

For those that had to pay a coinsurance, was that due before surgery or was it billed to you? I know a lot of companies vary so I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I'll ask about it at my next appointment. Thanks!
  5. I got my bypass date yesterday! Is anyone else scheduled for this date? My friend is getting sleeved the day before. [emoji3]

    Endoscopy today! What to expect?

Ha! You fought the Dr. while asleep. That's funny stuff!! Strangely enough, my throat didn't become sore for several hours after I got home. I instantly noticed that my sinuses felt so dry and hurt. I guess from the oxygen?

    Endoscopy today! What to expect?

Thanks for the responses. I was sedated and it went smoothly. Nurses said I bounced right back after a bit of nausea upon waking. They have great anti-nausea medications!

You'll likely have an EKG to make sure your heart is healthy enough for surgery, and an endoscopy to make sure your throat/stomach are healthy with no issues to be treated before surgery, and maybe an ultrasound to check your gallbladder to make sure it looks healthy and there are no stones.

My doctor (Medical Director at my Center) wanted me to lose 9 pounds before sending me to the surgeon for a consultation. It is her preference for patients to lose a percentage of their excess weight pre-op. It wasn't an insurance requirement.
  15. I know right???? I'm 8 days away and can hardly believe it. Good luck to you in all this pre surgery craziness! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Thank you! I *should* be done after Thursday. I have my endoscopy and ultrasound. Insurance is pending. We will see!!! I'm getting super excited and nervous now. *fingers crossed*
  16. I will be thinking positively for you! Do you have an appointment with an ENT yet?
  17. I'm a little confused about the nutritionist visits. I have to be supervised for 6 months, currently on month #3 do you know if the norm is to see the nutritionist every month for those 6 months? And then continue after? I am waiting for my surgical office coordinator to call me back but just figured i would ask since i can't sleep and just browsing thru. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App My surgeon does not require nutritionist visits every month after surgery. My insurance doesn't require it either. I was told that seeing the nutritionist often can help with progress, but going to see them is not a requirement post-op.
  18. Haha! I don't blame you for being impatient. Hopefully they will review it very quickly!

    Post Mini Gastric Bypass care

I'm not sure how to answer this, but just wanted to wish you luck!
  24. That's so strange that they wouldn't sedate you. Mine is Thursday and I will be sedated for it. I had no choice to just be numbed.
