  1. It has been a few years, just seeing who might still be around from the good ol' days.

HI Im still around although I dont hand around as much as I used to. Im holding steady at 66kg and couldnt be happier. Wish I could afford plastic surgery now to really finish the job

  2. Hi Fanny, I totally agree with you I have seen this guy a couple of times now and the first time I went he told me I need to put on 4kg and then last time at the same weight he said I could lose 2kg more if I stick to tuna and coffee basically. Im sorry I cant offer any help on a new fill Dr I just wanted to let you know I know what you are talking about. I have found a Dr in Geraldton to see now.

  3. I seen a surgeon about public banding and he told me the chances of being banded within 2 years was slim to none so I joined private health waited 12 months to the day and was banded and have not looked back. Waiting 12 months for private health to kick in seems like forever but it goes quickly.

  4. :tt2: Tony was my doc too - fab guy! Last time he saw me was at my 'goal weight' of 65kgs back in August before I moved over to Italy.. I'm coming back to Perth in April, I think he will be surprised as I've dropped another 13kgs since i left (oops) I was paranoid and wouldnt let him loosen my band before i left - cant wait to come have a loosening!

Plastic surgery.. I had some friends have skin removed etc - they actually got to claim it on health care too - i can try find out more. Another friend of mine went to Thailand to do all his surgery and he had some GREAT results with a low cost... what are you thinking of?

Wow Thailand I didnt think it would be safe. Do you know what kind of savings are made by going overseas I really want work done but I know it will be a long way off as it would be selfish of me to expect so much money for myself when there are so many other things we could spend money on. I need an full body lift my butt reminds me of a sharpei dog and the rest......well Im sure you get the picture. Wouldnt swap the weigt loss for anything though I love it.

  5. I always start the post op steps after a fill just for a shorter period of time. Liquids for 24 hours then slowly ease onto mushy food like runny scrambled eggs then start working in harder food. I think you need to give the band and your body time to adjust to being tighter. I always find that I feel really tight for a few days then it eases off. Hope you feel better soon.

  6. I have also lost more than is generally expected, my Dr said that most people lose about 50% of their weight I have lost all in less than 12 months.

I also lost a lot of hair in the first 6 months and My Doc said it was because of the shock to my system of losing so much weight it had nothing to do with malnutrition. I am happy to say as my weight loss has slowed my hair has grown back just as it was.

You have done well and if your Dr thinks you are healthy then thats the person that knows.

  7. Cant eat red meat unless minced at all, even when it feels fine when I eat it, the next day I can still taste it and nothing else will go down until I get rid of it. I have given up trying and can still eat chicken and fish (lots of fish). I have become a creature of habit since the band I only eat what I know, every day since school started I have had 2 cruskits and a tin of tuna for lunch but it doesnt bother me and I dont get bored and lots of salad and stir fried vegies, it seems to be working I have reached my goal and havnt moved for 6 months.

  8. Hi, I was banded by Dr Watson also and have never looked back. Good luck with your journey you have the best Doc for the job. I too never thought I would get into double digits but I have and now I look at the other me in photos at about 130kg and wonder how I was ever that big, I will never go back too much life to live now.

  9. _Posted this in another thread but nobody replied, any aussies have some advice for me?_________________

    Do I need a fill?????

    permalink

Last October I had a slight unfill as I felt I was too tight and it was the best decision as I could lose weight and keep food down. All has been going well until the last couple of weeks I have started to feel slightly hungry and looking for Snacks. I have booked another appointment but Im wondering if I was too tight last time will I be the same this time, I dont want to be so tight I rarely eat. Does the band change or loosen over time? my husband is telling me I shouldnt have anymore but my head thinks its time for a fill. What do you all think?

  11. Thanks Tully, I feel pretty dam good right now. My life has really opened up because Im not wondering if Im too big to participate anymore. Next week I am going to a fancy dress birthday party, the old me would have said what a stupid idea fancy dress was and not dressed up (mainly because I probably wouldnt have found a costume that fits), the new me is very excited to be going as a naughty nurse. Mind you I have stepped up the exercise a little just to make sure that it fits properly LOL.

Good luck with your surgery it is the best thing you can do and worth the wait.

  12. Thanks Lellow and Emma. You both are doing really well too. I was thinking today Emma it was today this time last year that I started on the dreaded Optifast and exactly 2 weeks til the big day, time has gone so fast.

Lellow tell me more about the body lift surgery, how did you start the process? that is my next move ut I dont really know where to start.

  13. Hi Nat , yes most of us bandsters would agree that it was the best decision we ever made . It was for me thats for sure , I am almost at target weight . Sounds like you went gang busters after banding , 10 months to get where you are now is a very fast result well done . regards ........Paul

Thanks Paul, I feel very lucky because in the past I was one of the people that nothing ever worked for so I was very apprehensive that I would fail with the band also. I can only describe it as a switch being flicked the day I had the band and suddenly my life wasnt all about food but living and having fun and the weight just fell off with no real diet or special food. I hate hate hate all the fast food that I used to crave, its weird but Im not complaining. I do have a mild addiction to cheetos I could eat them happily forever LOL
