Oh and don't forget your hormones may be playing a role in how you are feeling. You have been through major surgery and your body may be trying to adjust. Mood swings, etc. are common at this time.

Brianna, I am sorry you are having to deal with what sounds like an non-supportive partner. You are correct, I cannot understand the food addiction aspects of the struggle. I have been eating healthy several years, and what caused my obesity was medication. However, I do understand the having to cook food for the family and them wanting fast food. And I can tell you what I have done in the past.
But first off, let me say your boyfriend's lack of support may be just lack of knowledge. My husband said the same thing a long time ago, why should I have to change because you are? And I said you are correct, you shouldn't "have to" and left it at that.
What I did was make meals that were healthier for me in terms of options, that is if I was making steak, potatoes, and a veggie, I would only eat steak and veggie, or make a killer salad to cut my steak over, or even eat part of a sweet potato. If they wanted fast food, I would go, order a burger with extra lettuce and no bun, or a taco salad no shell, etc. etc. Did you know that McDonald's has egg white? who knew, the things you find out just by asking. Not people will look crazy at you sometimes, but what the hell.
What happened with my family is they would see all these great looking things they wanted to try that I was making for myself. Like the loaded salad, or even the Greek yogurt, or spaghetti made with spaghetti squash rather than noodle, or the Pasta or rice dishes that I subbed with cauliflower. Slowly over time, things changed. They were ogling my food, and requesting that I make more of that. My husband finally said it made him feel left out when I would get so involved with making my own food, despite we were all sitting at the table. He then told me to just make everyone's food the way I make mine, and I did. Granted I still bake Desserts and give them the other stuff from time to time, but it was a fairly smooth transition. Years later, him and the kids don't remember when they started eating Greek yogurt, or drinking 2 percent milk, or cottage cheese with fruit in it. They don't know why they request spaghetti squash spaghetti or mashed cauliflower. And nobody is upset that some of the ingredients are sugar free or fat free or all natural.
I say all of that to say that sometimes for those on the outside, being supportive for something like this is very new, and you have to move forward regardless. There are thousands of recipes for making healthy, delicious options out there. And many restaurants have healthier options or foods which you can transform by taking something out. Make this work for you.

M!@ got a reaction from Crmartin in OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
As the first thing they want you to do after surgery is walk, my surgeon does not use a cath. And with them pumping IV Fluid the urge comes rather quickly after waking.
That being said, even with a cath, I don't see the need to be clean shaven. I was not worried, I make sugar wax at home to use. Cheap and easy, and for some reason my husband likes to help. Ok that was TMI.

So, I am not sure what size pants I started at because after a while I only wore stretch or workout pants. Those were 2X or XL. Currently wearing a S/M but the pants size ranges from 10 to 14 depending on brand. I am hips, thighs, and ass. 247 to 179 currently.
    Hope this helps!

@@steph, it is an adjustment. And generally I am looking at myself in the mirror focused on pushing out whatever reps or intervals etc. But today I noticed more than any other day how many guys are paying attention, and making eye contact in the mirror.
It really is distracting...not saying it is bad...to have guys lingering, looking, etc. I was mid squat and this guy just leaned against the wall and watched for 3 sets of 15 weighted squats. I mean do you know how hard it is to continue to do squats when you are busy looking at the hard bodies, who have now stopped to look at you. I mean gosh...rude LOL not really best set of squats I ever pushed out.

Hey Everyone, doing my check-in...I have gotten so busy at work that I barely have time to breathe, let alone get lost in the forums.
So I am currently at 173 lbs, and seem to be losing ounces steadily. I have gotten past the point where I need to see the loss on the scale. I do not weigh every day, just 1 x weekly. I have increased exercise, and feel like I can do just about anything. I also keep track of my inches because despite the scale the clothes are still becoming looser; of course that means I have to have a consistent process for clearing out the old clothes. I figured hey if I put it on and it is too loose, it goes into the to-go pile. I am not making a big production out of it cause again, don't have the time. ; > I am also replacing items 1 at a time...
I recently incorporated running, but I work out at least 5 x weekly.

We were all super motivated about what we were going to do...even more so for me now at 8 months post op. However, you are in the early, early stage, and I know our expectations can get ahead of us, but please take in slow and follow your surgeon's guidance regarding incorporating exercise: You will need weeks to heal and this is key to long term success...the gym will be ready and waiting for you once you are cleared by your doctor.
Congratulations on your success thus far...there is much more where that came from.

I told my self before i had surgery, the day i get back home from the hospital I'm hitting the gym. Sadly, that didn't happen i totally under estimated the pain lol. I was laid up for 6 days, told my self as soon as i get back mobile and the pain is gone and this drain is out of my stomach I'm hitting the gym. After the pain was gone then i went to my 1 week post-op appointment... BOOM... i catch a cold sore throat and a fever and back laid up on bed rest. I was depressed on how my success will be and how much weight i will lose due to my inactivity. But gladly, the weight has been losing it self and at a satisfying rate and i couldn't be happier. It just show me that my results will be much better when i get back in the gym and start working out.

Some people have doctors that tell them no Protein for a month or no Protein shakes at all. As surgery is becoming more popular, and there are more quack doctors out there. Expect more dumb questions.
Even if the questions are annoying, it is better people ask than suffer alone.

I found mashed potatoes to be far too "heavy" for me post-op. If you're looking for that "taste" you can try steaming some cauliflower and then mashing that as you would potatoes. That works great for me. I use cauliflower to sub for potatoes and even rice...
