    Advice on 6mth Diet

I would also be asking exactly what weight do they submit to the insurance? My original weight of 226 was submitted to the insurance but I weighed 204 on the day of my surgery - if they had used that I can tell you I wouldn't have been able to have my insurance pay for my surgery. Good luck to you!!!
  2. LOL, no I don't have one of those - I actually did have a fatty tumor though years ago that I had to have removed right near where my port is now - funny enough

I will be daring and be totally honest with all of you...

I am scared some days, I am scare of who I am, who I am becoming... the weight comes off and people are noticing lol, the one thing I want is happening and yet I am scared... people notice me. Simple as that, they have looked at me, they have said that I look really good, that they can tell how much weight I have... I am scared. I do not know this person, I am not fantastic looking but still 40 lbs down from where I started is good I know - this person - who is she? Does she wear the tighter sweater? Her husband has a gleam in his eye? Her friend is so happy for her? Who is she? So under this fat, under this layer of protection I have built for myself, to protect myself... I am here! Yes, it is me! I am still the same, maybe I look different - I know and I want, but I am me, I love, I hurt, I cry and I celebrate my losses and gains with you... I am torn between wanting to show myself, come out of my physical shell and wanting to hide because it is what I have done for so long. I am being, I am me...

  5. I range from 800 to 1200 most days, one day a week I will go around 1500 - it works. I guess most mornings are oatmeal with natural Peanut Butter and soy milk instead of Water mixed in. lunch is usually fish of some sort 3 oz or so with a little veggie snack - sometimes thin and trim turkey and light swiss rolled in boston lettuce with a bit of miracle whip dinner - fish again ( I love fish) and a bit of avocado and lemon squeezed on fish oh and if I am feeling especially decadent I have the Mint Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich! Freaking awesome thank you very much. sometimes some almonds during the day or yogurt - depending on my mood and hunger

Posted my first poll & thread

I keep my calories under 1200 about six days a week, on that seventh day it might get up to 1500 - but really most are around 1000 or less. It works for now :blushing: So tell me about those work out tapes, I meant to ask before and forgot.

    I'm doing great!!

I am sorry about your friend losing her job, it is a scary time for everyone right now. On the other note, congrats on your loss! I am so happy for you and I have been checking out your blogs every so often. I think that what you said is correct not letting people slow you down - but it is more than just walking isn't it? For me at least it is not letting thoughts or opinions slow me down lately, keeping positive and believing in me as much as others do. I am happy for you!

Good food while on the run

A lot of grocery stores have build your own salad bars, that is what I did went I went to Atlanta, GA. it helped greatly when I was looking for a good healthy salad with protien. I guess I would pack a crap load of Protein bars, nuts (I love almonds) I would bring trail mix - make your own or buy it, I would grab beef Jerky if it was available and if I chewed it really well (usually at short stops and such) at fast food I would get a salad and a burger? take off the bun if you can't tolerate bread (I can't) skip the fries. And some filling Soup of if available? Boy I am trying to think of anything else and feeling like a dork, I am sure there will be plenty of others with great advice for you! Good luck to you!

    Frustrated by late appointments

I understand how you feel and normally if I am ticked off because I am waiting more than I think I should I will say something. And yes, I have also commented on nasty or unpleasant staff. However, there have been times where I just shut up LOL and that is not like me! I just want my friggen fills sometimes and I have found that I kill people with kindness - it makes me feel better. But....if given the crappiest treatment and I was feeling especially unhappy I suppose I would be more assertive and really explain to my surgeon how I feel.

    HELP from experienced bandsters..

I just found that I need to stay by the sink, bent over and let my body "slime" oh god yes it is gross and it doesn't feel good by any stretch of the imagination. Sometimes it would take a while to stop, but you are not going to keel over and it is something you won't ever forget - however you may do it again! I do feel for you!

7 months in and feeling stuck

Congratulations on your incredible weight loss, you and I are very similar as far as our surgery dates, I was banded in June. However, I am much further behind in the weight loss department and I am not sharing that these days - I get tired of having people say "that is all you have lost?" - so that being said, you have done wonderful... but you are entitled to feel frustrated, maybe you need a fill? maybe you need to refocus? I do not know but I can tell you that you will find wonderful support on this site as well as a ton of people who do understand. Barbie

    Should I do this?

Ok, some times things do happen with this surgery - like any other, personally I do not have an issue with hanging skin but some people do, I do not vomit - have not vomited since my surgery to be honest and as far as mucous? Well, yes, I ate something more than once either too fast, not chewed well and or something that just wasn't going to work - however, I have that figured out and it doesn't happen now. I can honestly tell you I would never, ever go back to before my surgery, I am so happy that I personally have the band, I am not shy about it and I share my experiences with anyone who asks, I cannot imagine being the person I was before, it isn't just the weight loss either, it is the knowledge that I have a chance using this tool that I never have had before. Good luck to you regardless of what decision you end up making :bored:
  13. Mrs. Rachel! Hi yes, this week is going pretty good. How about yourself? What is new?

  14. I had it done on a Wednesday went back to work 8 days later, I don't know what a tummy tumor is -?

    fills

Ok at the risk of people thinking I am wimp (and if you do don't tell me you think I am)- I had my first fill done without it being numb - never again, it hurt and he was using fluro to see my port. The second two times I have been numb and very happy about it. I suppose each person has their own pain tolerance - mind you I have had two tattoos and my belly button pierced - go figure.
  16. 7 months out, 3rd fill total of 5.5cc in a 10cc band, I believe and so doesn't my surgeon that I have hit a sweet spot! We shall see
  17. Yes, I had it done November 19,2008 and it did take care of the pain and I feel great!

    Bloggity blog blog

Howdy, I am doing pretty darn good if I say so myself. I am at what my surgeon calls my "sweet spot" !!! This is pretty huge to me and to anyone else who has the band and gets to this point - I didn't really understand when I heard others talk about their "sweet spot" but now I truly get it. I am doing extremely well with foods and I am figuring out on a daily basis what works best for me nutrition and hunger wise. I have made a few small tweaks as to what keeps me satiated and I am finding out what makes my mind feel satisfied as well. I can't believe how I not only quit smoking for the past 3 weeks but I am really happy that I did. I am so much healthier feeling. So over all things are good, I am starting yet another college semester this Monday, two classes this semester and I work full time as well for those who didn't know. I am going to have to work out my time better so I can work, take care of school, take care of myself and still exercise. It will be challenging but I can do it. OK, enough for now, it is time for me to peruse this site and see what I can see to inspire me :thumbup:
  19. Hi Michelle,

no I do not have lung cancer, what I was saying was I am glad I quit three weeks ago and it was because I wanted to not because I was forced to because of a horrible illness - which if I kept smoking it would have lead to that eventually.

So yes, I quit smoking on New Years day and haven't looked back. I did quit before my surgery but started up again after my surgery, then as I said I quit again recently on News day.

    Take care

    Did you stay overnight?

I went in early in the morning - really can't remember what time. Yes, I spent the night - to be honest I am so glad they require that as I did have some issues in the middle of the night around midnight and I needed help. I personally feel very comfortable with hospitals and never mind having to stay when I have had to. I didn't drive for a couple of weeks. I was sore for a couple of weeks. Restrictions for me were lifting - that was about it. Good luck to you !

    help

Hi there  My nutritionist and surgeon say it is a shock from the surgery, some people blame not enough Protein, others suggest taking Biotin as a supplement. I personally am 7 months out and am still having hair loss issues. I do keep my protein up where it should be and I started to take Biotin about 2 weeks ago, my nutritionist said that it would help and that eventually my hair loss would stop when I saw her this past thursday. So, I probably didn't answer your question real great but I wanted to share what is going on with my hair loss as well, good luck to you!

    shout from the rooftops!

Good for you for turning something that was a negative in a positive! I personally would have probably reacted differently LOL
  23. I have a 10cc band and after 3 fills I have 5.5ccs and good restriction. My surgeon is of the "slow and steady" fills. I have personally had my first fill done without numbing, the other two were done with numbing - I asked to have numbing and there isn't any shame in that let me tell you  Good luck and if you get as much of a fill as you anticipate follow the instructions they give you afterward to the "t"! That is a big first fill :sneaky:

    IT'S OFFICIAL: I'm a slow loser.

Congratulations on your weightloss and your fantastic attitude  I too am a slow loser and I am ok with that - it is what it is!
