NovemberSleever got a reaction from Losingit2018 in Forced to do Bypass
Thanks for this thread everyone! I am having revision surgery on 3/27, from sleeve to RNY, due to reflux and regaining all 60 lbs I lost with the sleeve 😭. Hoping to at least get rid of the reflux and losing the weight again would be a great bonus!

I’m scheduled for a revision from VSG to RNY on 10/4 (VSG 2016, HW 246, LW 186, CW 233). Hoping to resolve my reflux and regain. I would love to hear some experiences from others who’ve done the same revision. I’m looking for all the good and bad info! I’d especially like to know:
    1. Any side effects or complications?
    2. How much weight did you lose and how long did it take?
    3. If you had reflux or GERD, did the revision resolve it?
    4. Any regrets with having the revision?
    Thank you!

I definitely remember feeling that way after I got my gastric sleeve surgery. I was MAD that I couldn’t eat solid food and MAD that I’d done this to myself. It’s all part of the emotional reaction that’s to be expected after such a huge physical change. Give yourself time and it will get better!
  5. Congrats!

I was revised 10/31/18 for severe GERD. I was about 20# from goal weight at that point.
1 - complications - one of my incisions got infected, but it's the same risk for any surgery.
2 - I lost most of the remaining 20# over the next 4 months but found it very difficult because I had much less restriction with RnY than I had with the sleeve. (My sleeve was VERY restrictive and I liked that). My surgeon says that "revised" RnYs are not as restrictive as those done on a "virgin" stomach. I also found it very hard to redo all the post-op food phases because I had just "been there-done that." (My sleeve was Feb. 2018.) After the sleeve, I had never progressed past soup/stews so I had never gotten to the real "lean protein" stage. I can now eat regular meats.
3 - GERD - Yes, the procedure fixed my reflux issues.
4 - No regrets. I was on the maximum prescription-strength omeprazole, 2x/day plus TUMS as needed. I couldn't keep waking up at night with acid up my nose and in my mouth. It was going to destroy my teeth and esophagus. Gotta play the hand you're dealt, right?

    ***UPDATE ON NAILS***
It’s been a little over a month and my nails are doing ssooooo much better! Still not at 100% perfect maybe 90% better, but they are definitely growing again. Not long movie star nails, but out a few millimeters past the finger tip and no longer sore and ripping and tearing! I eat or drink sugar free Jello every day for the Gelatin that’s supposed to help nails. I have the collagen peptides in smoothies 5 times a week. And I also take the hair, skin, and nails Vitamin every day now. Between the 3 it has fixed my nails and less hair is falling out now too. The Biotin vitamin I was taking since after surgery was worthless in my opinion.

Awesome! Have you had any stomach issues after surgery such as dumping syndrome or diarrhea? I'm worried about those for my upcoming surgery.

NovemberSleever got a reaction from "Henry" in Dr. Corvala & Hospital Angeles
After a LOT of research, I've decided to have gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Corvala at Hospital Angeles on 11/18. He was definitely not the cheapest option, but I feel very comfortable with his experience, great reviews and the too notch hospital.
Anybody else having surgery with Dr. Corvala in November?
Would also love to hear from those who have had surgery with him in the past and/or at Hospital Angeles. How was your experience with him, the facility, staff, etc.? Thanks!
