Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery

I also have GERD and am opting for RNY because of it. I am hoping for relief after surgery early next year!
  2. I hope no one thinks I'm shilling for the company, but I use Toppik powder for my hair loss due to PCOS and it hides the thin Patches really well. It's not as great for where you part the hair (I still use it on that part anyway) but awesome for hiding spots elsewhere. I feel naked without it. It's not perfect by any means but it's the best thing I've tried so far for a little help.
  3. Any news @@lovenessa? Thinking of you!

    5 weeks out, pain, nausea

It could be gall stone attacks (though I'm sure it could be a bunch of other things too). I had my gall bladder removed 15 years ago and when I had gall stone attacks, I had nausea, extreme heart burn, vomiting (or dry heaves), pain in back. When it was really bad, I had the sweats and shakes and thought I was having a heart attack. That's when I went to the ER and they found the gall stones. I had the gall bladder removed a week later. Let us know how you're feeling!

    Hi. I'm Dawn

I've talked to my dad, brother, and sister and they are all super supportive. I haven't talked to my mom about it yet but my dad said she's excited for me. Apparently one of my aunts had bypass years ago. I knew she lost a lot of weight but don't see her often so I had no idea. I had an online NUT session this week as well as my sleep study consult. They're supposed to call me tomorrow to schedule the sleep study and that's my last big appointment! I have one more NUT appointment in December before we submit to insurance in January...it's kind of crazy! The bad part is that since I started this, I've been having a lot of food funerals. I've been eating whatever I want which is obviously not good...I gained 8 pounds! I am sure it would be more if I wasn't working out regularly! But I threw out the rest of the Halloween candy minus what my kids selected (one per day for a week...they're 2 and 4 so they're fine with that) and am determined to lose those 8 pounds by December weigh-in!
  10. Sorry for the double post!
  11. I'm about 1/3 way through my 90 day supervised plan I just have a couple of NUT appointments and my sleep study left to do! We will submit to insurance after the New Year and I can't wait! How are all of you doing?

    Waiting is so hard

I am with you! I am about 30 days into my 90 day program that my insurance requires. I just had an endoscopy done in April of this year and my surgeon wanted me to have another one because he would be performing it. I was annoyed at first (another $200 co-pay!) but I'm very happy he did it because he found a large hiatal hernia that my gastro did not either find or tell me about! I'm dreading the pre-op diet too. Mine is also two weeks long but we will get through it!
  15. Thank you for sharing! You look fantastic and so happy and healthy! <3

    Hi. I'm Dawn

Annnnd I just emailed my parents, sister, and brother to let them know about my decision! I contemplated telling them in person but really didn't want to repeat it 3x so I thought email would be better. We'll see what they say...

    Bypass VS Sleeve

I had RNY three months ago and have now lost 76# (pre and post op). These are the reasons I chose the bypass: -- Surgery has been done for 50+ years and has a long history of success. -- Is considered the gold standard of WLS. On average people lose more weight with RNY than any other WLS. -- Eliminates acid reflux. The sleeve can make this worse. -- BP instantly normal after surgery. -- "Disconnects" the hunger hormones. My hunger is nothing like it was before surgery. -- Old stomach is still intact and part of my system. I have had no complications. My recovery has been amazing. I was off my pain meds three days after coming home from the hospital. I can eat anything I want, although I don't because I don't feel good afterward. I am losing an average of 3 pounds a week. I've had no stalls. --------- The acid reflux (GERD for me) is why I decided on RNY as well. My surgeon agreed. He found a large hiatal hernia during my scope and said that maybe we could discuss the sleeve (since my GERD could be b/c of the hernia) but I still want the RNY. (sorry my quote of @@QuilterGal got messed up when I edited).
  19. How much biotin did you take? I take a daily multi, Vitamin D, and Biotin - I've been taking 10mcg of Biotin but not sure if that is enough! I have PCOS so already have noticeably thinning hair.

    Hi. I'm Dawn

Weights for insurance submission Primary Care consult/establish PCP relationship Blood work (11 vials!!) Psych Eval Urinalysis EKG Chest X-Ray -Sleep consult - 11/5 (I had to cancel last week's because my 2 year old broke her ankle at daycare) -Sleep study (TBD) -Ultrasound - 10/21 -Endoscopy - 10/22 -Complete nutritional sessions (Nov/Dec scheduled!) My endoscopy was yesterday and my surgeon discovered a hiatal hernia which he said he can fix during surgery. My blood tested positive for h.pylori so he also did a biopsy to test for that - and then if that is positive we'll deal with treating that. I have my sleep study consult coming up and the sleep study itself will be the biggest appointment I have left!

    My new journey in life

I had to read this a few times to make sure I didn't write it in my sleep and forget! We sound so similar. I have a 4 year old, can't fit in rides and found out I have H.Pylori! I'm hoping for surgery in February - the bariatric coordinator said it could be Feb or March but I'm really hoping for February
  23. I'm so happy for you! You pushed through and didn't give up!
