  6. Hey all! I was looking for some people to befriend on some weightloss/exercise apps. I use FitBit as well as LoseIt, and I would love the extra motivation if having friends on there. My e-mail address used for both of them is in the attachment, so it doesn't pop up in searches =P
  7. Hey all, I am 3 days post-op and I am feeling good. I am already off of my pain medication and the gas is for the most part gone. I have no cravings, and I have minimal nausea. The only issue is that I am having a very hard time getting my 64 oz. of liquid in a day. I was able to get the 70 grams of Protein in both yesterday and today, but I can't do more than 2 - 3 oz of Fluid in an hour without getting uncomfortably full. So far I was able to get around 30 oz in yesterday and 28 in today. I am worried that I will get dehydrated. I am doing my best to get the protein in early, so I don't have that mal-nourishment. I called my surgeon's office THREE times, but they have "Modified hours" and were unable to help me. Any advice?

    3-days Post-Op (Liquid)

@@_Kate_ I have tried EVERYTHING. I cannot handle just plain lukewarm liquids or full liquids. I have to have them either cold or warm/hot. I am hoping that tomorrow will be better. I was able to get a 5 oz cup of yogurt with Protein powder down in an hour and a half, woo!!!

    3-days Post-Op (Liquid)

Today was Day 4 - I got 62 oz of Protein in with 42 oz of Fluid (counting Water, juice, Protein shake, yogurt, and soup). As soon as I am at the 4 oz. mark, I start getting this heart burn feeling in my chest. At least today was better than yesterday. It give me hope! Thank you all for your experiences!
  10. Hey guys, So I work at a Cancer Center and it is mandatory for us to wear lab coats when in the presence of patients - The company is nicely purchasing new lab coats with our names and the Center name embroidered on the pocket for professionalism. They are ordering them the end of this month (4 days before my surgery...) and they are expecting them to be here in February. I am not sure what size I should have them order. (Currently I am a size 2XL in my lab coat) Please help with suggestions!

  12. I got the call today from the hospital program I am working with that I was cleared by the nutritionist, psychologist, and fitness instructor. So they are putting in the request forms for insurance approval! I just can't stand 10-15 business day wait!!! Fingers crossed for approval!

Use Mexico as your vacation spot, you just have to worry about not coming back with a tan!

    Hawaii Sleevers?

Oh wow - yeah, I heard of a few people having to get their gallbladder removed! Glad everything went smoothly =]
  16. I was curious if there were any Sleevers on the island of Oahu. It would be awesome to meet others and share this journey. I have befriended a few other girls, but the more the merrier! In my opinion, it is hard being obese on an island where you can wear a bathing suit to shop at costco =P So any face-to-face support would be amazing!

    Hawaii Sleevers?

@@butterfly23 I actually got approved two weeks ago =] My surgery is Nov. 4th, just 21 days away!! Castle has you do a 2 week Liver Shrinking diet that starts next week (2 Protein drinks, 2 protein Snacks, one meal), but for the past month they have us do high protein, low carb. For now, I am set on all the essentials (protein, Vitamins, etc.) But I am sure I will branch out and find different flavors later.
  19. How awesome! What month do you think you are going to be getting it done in?I was approved in 3 business days by Anthem BCBS in CA. I finally received my surgery date, 12/08/15, so I'm in my 9 week wait. Not too far away!! I tell you, it comes in a snap! I am exactly 3 weeks away, and yesterday it felt like it was forever!
  20. I like the GNC Lean Protein pre-made shakes for easy grab-and-go. Quest has a few yummy flavors, and they are very filling. For the clear liquid, other than the Isopure, I found AboutTime ProHydrate, it's 95 calories, 0 fat, 20 protein, 3 carbs - it tastes more like a flavored Water, and has less of a gritty, mouth-drying aftertaste I have gotten from Isopure. @@JellyBellyNoMore - I bought five different flavors to try at my gym (24Fitness) they were $1 less than the one at GNC, but then when I found the ones I liked, I bought them at GNC in the pack of 12.
  21. My doctor requires the liquid diet 24 hours before surgery, but recommends a two week Liver Shrinking Diet so surgery is easier. But it isn't crazy. High protein, low carb, and lots of water. It actually helps with discovering protein shakes for the future, in my opinion.

    Hawaii Sleevers?

@@butterfly23 I start the actual pre-op diet next Wednesday, but I think dieting and cutting out processed foods will help a lot with that! Congrats on your weight loss! Maybe we will see each other sometime for support!

    November Sleevers

I bought some of the clear protein drinks, so I have them right after. I bought 2 oz. and 4 oz containers that are also freezable, for soups and such. I also bought tiny appetizer plates, herbal tea, sugar-free syrups for flavor, Bariatric Fusion vitamins, UnJury, and a few different protein powders. I just wanted to be prepared to not have to shop after surgery.
  24. Hey guys, I was curious if anyone purchased any kitchen items to help them with portion control... (2 oz storage containers, smaller forks, smaller plate, etc.) Someone I know who had the RYN bought 2 oz baby food containers that she said helped her, but I wasn't sure if it was necessary. Obviously I have a problem with portions NOW, but I am hoping with the planning process I will get better with it. Any thoughts, experiences or suggestions?
