    High cholesterol?

Mine was up too. I immediately blamed the increased intake of red meat, but I also figured this wouldn't happen due to the limited amount I was eating. Apparently that is not the case. I don't want to add yet another pill because I'm trying to get rid of most of the ones I take, so I convinced my NP to wait a few months and recheck. Is it my red meat intake that's doing this? I try to eat chicken and fish as well, but nothing beats a good medium rare filet sometimes...

    Post Your Silly Rant

People on motorcycles who decide basic traffic rules do not apply to them. As in deciding that the dotted line separating lanes on the highway is really a motorcycle lane and drive on the dotted line at 100mph and then cut over in front of a car at the last second. (Please note I have a lot of friends who are bikers but they have the good sense to obey basic traffic conventions, I only have an issue with the idiots who don't) THIS. I've had this happen to me several times, and there seems to be a plethora of "Bikers are dying to be seen" signs these days...and when I see one I'm like yeah, they're probably dying because of stupidity like this! (I too realize not every biker is a moron...but the morons do tend to stand out in a crowd )

Why is it so hard for folks to navigate a double drive thru? Most stay in one lane and back it up, so I look like an a$$ when I whip around them to enter the nearly empty second lane. Then there's the "once you're done ordering who goes when" dance we must perform as well. It's NOT rocket science people! Pay attention!!

    The great straw debate!

I'm pretty sure Mythbusters proved that it takes a LOT of carbonation and excess liquid (and maybe even some Pop Rocks) to blow up a stomach. #alsoteamstraw #frustratedwithoutone
  6. Three kids, a complete hysterectomy at 32, and husband's infidelity (we worked through it) - all of these have wreaked havoc on my mind and body. I went from a healthy 110 to 240. Some of that weight gain was gradual, and not all my baby weight came off after each child. Most of my issues came after the hysterectomy, but I was covered with endometriosis so being in pain or gaining weight...not a hard choice. But, with the weight gain came other complications: high BP, swollen calves/ankles, more frequent migraines. Job stress should be included in this mix as well as it did not help. I was a branch manager for a staffing agency during this time too. I lost weight on a doctor-monitored program (that included pills). Once the pills stopped working, the weight stopped coming off. I packed on the last 50 pounds in 6 months. Everything hurt. This surgery has been a gift from God. I'm only 54 pounds down so far, but just getting back under 200 has done wonders for my health (and state of mind). I know I won't be back to my little 110 lb self, but I also don't EVER want to get up over 200 again. My little bones have hated me for the past few years - they need relief!

    Hives and itchy skin

Update on my crazy doc situation - I vented on FB (nothing ugly, just full of frustration) and one of my friends knows the clinic administrator and tagged him in the comments. He reached out to me and we had a very nice conversation. He showed my NP and staff my post and when the nurse saw that she got upset and said oh no I thought her appointment was at 11, not 11:15! So instead of thinking I was 5 minutes late, she thought I was TWENTY minutes late. Had I been running that late I would have called and rescheduling would not have been an unreasonable request. So they set me up for 4:15 this afternoon. The power of social media...

    Sugar

Monk Fruit in the Raw. Started using it a couple of years ago and only use it in my coffee. I also use regular creamers because I feel a tablespoon here and there is not going to ruin me. I can't even drink a whole cup anyway. When I go to a particular restaurant here and we are eating breakfast, I doctor my coffee with one Sweet n Low packet and a dash of sugar to cut the bitterness.

    Hives and itchy skin

That it's not shingles My nurse practitioner doesn't actually know what it is, and ordered lab work to test for autoimmune disorders (I have family diagnosed with lupus and MS). Don't get me started on what happened today when I attempted to get to my appointment for her to discuss my bloodwork - 5 minutes late due to a payroll issue at work and poof - they had cancelled my appointment and suggested that I call and reschedule! Their words were "we are too busy to fit you in now". In all my years on this earth I have NEVER had a doctor's office do that to me! And this is a podunk town of maybe 18,000 folks, not some big city clinic. Apparently I'm not sick enough for them to see me even being 5 minutes late, but it's ok for them to make me wait upwards of AN HOUR every single time. I take my health very seriously and try my hardest not to ever be late. Maybe others do this on a regular basis but not me. I will have to cool off before I call and reschedule that appointment.

    50 lbs down

It's funny-it took me losing 50 pounds for others to notice as well! I noticed way before that as my clothes got looser and looser. Congrats on your weight loss!

    Hives and itchy skin

I have no rash but what started out as severe itching on my back has turned into numbness over a large portion of my upper body and itching/irritation/pain. I saw the doctor on call at my clinic and he gave me samples of Lyrica - this has helped but I don't want to add on another pill to take for the rest of my life. I admit, my Vitamin consumption has been lax (did I mention I HATE taking pills?) but I have tried to eat nutritiously as best I can. This itching/pain is for the birds...
  12. Down 32 pounds. Been dealing with a lot of personal stuff in the past few months - husband is still unemployed but actively trying, adult sons making stupid decisions, daughter in her final semester of high school, and me having to drive to another city day in and day out just so I can work (and escape from all that)...it's been a mess. Some days I know I'm not eating enough Protein but my nerves are so worked up I can't eat. I was never a nervous/stress eater - I always feel nauseous and can't eat - and that still applies post-sleeve. I know I'm not getting enough Water - never have and probably never will acquire the necessary taste for it. I do not regret my surgery but do wish life would straighten out a bit so that I can enjoy my weight loss journey!

    Reassurance

Think about it this way - the weight didn't go on overnight, so it stands to reason that it won't come off overnight. Although like Babbs said that would be nice! Lol I've had to remind myself of this as I have struggled with losing and then not losing. During those times I ignored the scale and measured my successes by how my clothes fit or how I felt. Don't get discouraged!

    Vitamins

One thing that helps me is to try to take them as close to eating as possible. That way there will hopefully be something on the stomach and not just Vitamin alone. I've always had a problem taking Vitamins without eating before or after and becoming nauseous, so I just assumed the same would be true for me post-surgery.
