I thought I would re-post this recipe for some of you feeling like you might miss out on pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. I have not tried it yet but will!

    Slower than I expected

@@TheNewKris I was feeling the same way you are! I had my RNY Oct. 8th. At my 2 week appt. I had only lost 5 lbs. I was so depressed because of all the other great weight loss. I decided then not to weigh until my 6 week check up which I just had on Nov. 19th. I had lost 18 lbs since surgery day. Thats 3 lbs a week. Better than I could have ever done on my own without starving. I too was wondering about the fluids & food, I am just like you. I even wondered if they didn't make things small enough. I only eat the amount they suggest & they just increased my food intake from 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup. I can tell you I'm getting too full, I can tell by the tightness & bloat feeling I just stop. My Doctor is very happy with my weight loss, & said there is so many different factors that go in to the loss. Some people on here have sleeve v RNY, or have hernia repairs or have maybe more weight to loose or have more muscle mass. I just turned 60 & I'm sure my metabolism isn't like a younger person. Only weigh yourself 1x a week, & if the scale doesn't move & your doing what the Dr. said, eating & walking what he wants you to, it will eventually show on the scale, it will come off! Can't wait to hear your progress! We will get there!!

    Hydrated

@@cjd2010 I agree with @@miiasan You need to call the Dr. I too seem to get my fluids down easier drinking Powerade zero which I add a scoop of unflavored Protein powder to to get my protein in. I also drink one Protein shake premiere which gives you some fluids & protein. I think your not feeling well because not enough of fluids & protein. If I don't do enough of one or the other the next day I feel tired & or headache. Sending you hugs, I know your having a rough time but be sure to call the Dr. before you get too dehydrated! In the mean time have someone get you some powerade zero, it has electrolytes in it.

    Notice a change

@@kayjay14 Sounds like you are doing well since you started this journey with our October buddies!!! I'm 6 weeks out & have lost 18 lbs since surgery. I too have a hard time seeing myself thinner, all though my pants are looser they aren't falling off like I want them too!!! I think its the same as seeing someone everyday you don't notice much change in them but when you haven't seen someone in awhile & they have changed you notice it right away! I think we get so anxious to be thinner we don't realize how far we really have come!! We will get there, & will have so much more confidence!

@@anewme2015 Your great too!!! As you know my weight loss has been a little slower & I stayed away from the evil scale!! Our body holds on to so much water etc. that it fluctuates so. If your weighing every day stop & only weigh 1 x a week. Are you able to do some walking? I don't understand the math either, but my body never would loose like other's, it goes into starvation so easy. Slow weight loss is good, you will see it coming off soon & you have a good attitude to get through this!!! Glad your here to go through this with!!

@@whoahbabyy I think its great your Mom in law wants to do something with you. Just walk as far as you can without pushing it & plan on not doing the whole 5k. Take a protein shake like premiere with you to drink. I think the more you get your protein & water in the more energy you will have! I'm trying to push myself more in my walking, finally reached 45min.

@ Thank-You! I feel very good about it. I have been doing 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup of cottage cheese & 1/4 cup of fish or chicken. If I have chili or soup, I will have 1/2 cup & add protein powder to it or in my beverage to make 20g of protein. Now that I will increase to 2/3 I will just increase the amounts to 1/3 each. They won't ok me for veggies until 3 months, another 6 weeks. I do eat cooked in soups & chili (onions tomatoes split peas, beans). They said I could start eating low carb or whole wheat tortias & pork today! yea ! Not sure how I will figure out how much of a tortias & beans. maybe a 1/2 of a small with 1/3 cup of beans on it would work.... hum got me thinking lol!!!

I made some ham & split pea soup & added to my portion some Unjury chicken flavored protein to it, very good. Its getting cold here so ham & beans, soups & chili will be staples!

@ I went to the Doctors & weighed. My loss is 18 lbs since surgery day. My Dr. is happy & said I was loosing at the right amount for me. Thats 3 lbs a week. I don't know if I had a stall or not since I didn't weigh since my 2 week check up. I'm checking my scale to see if there is a difference in mine & my Dr.'s & vow to only get on it every Thurs. They want me to start eating 2/3 a cup at a time now. Seems kinda early for that but I will try.

@@Mogwaicat @@1041mom If you have the unflavored protein powder, i use Unjury you can put a scoop of that in a 32oz powerade zero or what ever your no calorie drink is you like to get more protein & the flavored drinks seem to make it easier to drink. When I don't get enough of either I get a headache the next day. With all your walking I bet you need more protein. Good for you on the scale. Weigh at most 1x a week, you will feel better. Not getting enough water your probably retaining everything! @@395Ron I use a 8x8 glass pan. I thought the same thing but it turned out good. You might check it a couple of min. before time incase your oven is hotter than mine.

@@whoahbabyy Great weight loss!!! I weigh tomorrow (6 week) to find out my weight loss! It won't be near what your's is but I'm hoping for 2.5 a week or more based on my 5 lbs loss at 2 weeks post surgery. I stay away from that terrible scale. After tomorrow I will weigh once a week on Thurs. going to check my scale before Dr.s & after to see if there is a difference & go from there. I know its hard but try to just get on the darn thing 1x a week. Do you have any unflavored protein powder? I use Unjury. I have been putting it in my Powerade zero (32oz) 1 scoop. It gives me 20g of protein while I'm getting my fluids. I use the chewable Celebrate complete multi & their chewable calcium. They don't taste bad. Keep up the good work, I think you might get a little more energy once your able to get your protein & water in.
  16. I just went to the Dermatologist & was asking her about dry feet & body, she said Vaseline was the best moisturizer. Put on feet at night with socks. A light coat on very dry areas of body rubbed in. I'm putting it on my neck & chest legs & feet. Can't go the face so I use a loreal night cream.

Glad you brought that up because I was wondering if I'm taking too big of drinks. I'm back to normal, no sips. But it seems to be the only way I get my water in & it doesn't bother me to do so! I too am thirsty!!!! I guess we are lucky but good quest. for my Dr. appt.

@@kvoneye No I haven't tried it yet, going to for Thanksgiving. I like the premier shakes. I just recently started drinking a 1/2 cup of coffee & I fill the cup up with the vanilla preimere shake & warm a little more now that its getting cold. I drink the rest or have another coffee. It keeps my coffee amount down & the shake makes it sweet enough along with getting my protein. I like the chocolate too & so does my husband. I do need them to be cold to drink straight.

    People envious of WL

I agree with esskay77 I'm also guilty of this only meaning it as a compliment! Focus on the support she has given you in the past, she probably just wishes she had the guts to do something about her weight as you have done! I just turned 60 & the older you get it gets so very hard to loose the weight. I think you handled it just fine by saying nothing but you may ask her if she mentions it again, say thank-you, would you like to walk with me sometime?
