    Advice on eating

It happens! What I found works well for me, especially when I am out eating is, I take a bite, then set the fork down and chew, chew, chew. This keeps me from gulping everything down too fast. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  3. Forgot to mention, I'm down about 105 pounds, around 172 or so. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Advice on eating

my serving size at your point was 1/4 cup, so you aren't very far from that. I was on soft/pureed food at that point. a scrambled egg was all I could handle.

  6. Well, let's do the math. There are 16 tablespoons in 1 cup. So 4 tbsp would be 1/4 cup. 1 cup of skim milk has 80 calories and 8 grams of Protein, so 4 tbsp would be 20 calories and 2 grams of protein. So.....what do you think? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Jerky Quest

I make chicken Jerky with this recipe all the time and with 2 teenage boys, it disappears about as fast as I make it. I do use regular soy sauce and add in some red pepper flakes.http://www.yankeekitchenninja.com/2011/10/chicken-jerky-recipe.html?m=1 Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  9. Well, I've already typed this twice today, but take the batteries out of your scales and put them in the closet. Don't worry about it. Physically impossible to put on fat after surgery. Trust the process and only weigh when you go to the dr for check ups. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  10. I second the ketosis. You probably don't smell any different. Probably in ketosis where normally you have a metallic taste in your mouth, which could easily be affecting your sense of smell. Nothing to worry about. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Probably shouldn't have...

And probably not too abnormal running a low grade fever. just watch it and follow up with your dr if it falls into the range thats listed on your discharge papers.

    Probably shouldn't have...

Take the batteries out of your scale and put them in the closet. Theres no way youve gained fat, you haven't eaten anything. weigh the next time you go to the dr.

    Still addicted to carbs!

I'm a big fan of myfitnesspal, I use it religiously to track my food and Protein. You may need help setting it up to meet your needs and adjust it to a weight loss surgery patient. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

yes, please post what she says.
  21. I told a few people before surgery. But i also said that. I wouldn't lie about it either. Im down just over 100 pounds from surgery 6 months ago, its impossible to not get asked how'd you lose so much weight. I decided long ago that i wasn't going to lie about that, if they ask, I mention that i had WLS that has made me change the way I eat. Ive found that to be easier rather than trying to remember who i told about my surgery and who i hadn't. To be honest, Im glad i took this route. Any resistance i got from people was all before surgery. Nobody afterwords has said anything negative about it and actually i may have helped a few. Some people ive spoke to has considered the sleeve after Ive spoke to them and answered their questions.

Hit Goal - now how do I stop?

It's definitely messed with my head. Every time I've tracked food in the past, it's because I've been trying to lose weight. It was a real mental challenge for me to be okay with NOT having a calorie deficit once I started tracking for maintenance. I was in like full-on panic a few times. Me too, messing with my head. its a total different way of thinking. One thing I realized, kind of an ahhha moment i had. I've always viewed food as the problem, almost evil in a sense, not true. Food isn't the problem, food is the solution.

I think your missing what we are saying. We are at goal, and stopping is NOT easy. We're speaking from personal experience. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  24. I agree totally!! I knew I'd be one to compare my loss to those of others, so I chose to stay off the scale in the beginning. The only time since surgery I was weighed was at my 2 week post op on April 7th. I wouldn't have done it yesterday, but I had a rough couple of days, mentally, so I'm trying to remind myself why I did this, I figured I'd step on to boost my spirits. It did anything but, so I took the batteries out of the scale and packed it deep, DEEP, inside my closet. Lol. Hopefully my next appt, at the end of May, will include the loss I so desperately long to hear.Stick to your doctor's plan and it will! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  25. My suggestion and I know some will not agree with me, but put the scales up in the closet for now. Weigh only once a week at most, or every 2 weeks, especially while you are having regular visits with your Dr, weigh in there. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
