ForLfKlovr got a reaction from Frustr8 in feeling of food in esophagus and heartburn?
    Hey All,
I am a few weeks from my 3 year anniversary of having my sleeve surgery. Sometimes I have the feeling that there is food stuck in my esophagus or I get heartburn. I never had heartburn prior to surgery. Any thoughts about why this might be happening and what I can do to get rid of these problems?
    TIA!

Thank you for sharing! I will contact my surgeon to see if they can do anything. All the best!

    Hey Beth,
I agree with you 100%! Other than the meeting with a therapist to fill out required questionnaires and reviewing it with the therapist (she then gave the OK to my bariatric surgery office), there was no emotional support. Oh, and they do offer a monthly bariatric support group. I think the emotional support piece is a majorly important part of the surgery process. I mean honestly, there is an underlying reason why we are obese and if we don't deal with the core issues, (in my opinion) we will regain the weight.

    Hello all,
Forgive me, I am new to this site I terms of posting but have really appreciated your support through my recovery.
I am 7 weeks post sleeve and at the same time as my recovery, I am writing my dissertation.
When thinking of a topic (I am a counsellor) I thought what could be more prevalent for me if I was to write something on my recent surgery.
What I wanted to know from you guys with as much detail as you can give: HOW MUCH EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DID YOU RECEIVE FROM THE HOSPITAL/VENUE YOU REVEIVED TREATMENT FROM PRIOR AND POST OPERATION?
From where I was standing - I was offered nothing until I mentioned it myself. I could have gone to see the hospital psychologist if I wanted to but being a counsellor I knew how helpful counselling would be. Now 7 weeks after surgery - I am genuinely mourning the loss of food, the loss of hunger, the loss of binge eating. I have lost a lot of my confidence for socialising and going out. Therefore I feel it would have been great to have been offered emotional support from the establishments themselves.
I would be so grateful if you could get back to me about any professional emotional support you were offered before or after the surgery.
    Thank you
    Beth

I have had a similar experience - I had the sleeve in August 2015. I weighted 225 and have lost 60 pounds and have stayed at this weight for about a year. Although I would like to lose more, I am so happy with the amount I have lost and am grateful to have had the surgery. I know that I could have never lost the weight without the surgery. I don't always make the best food choices and know that I need to kick up my exercise and track my food. I would be happy to share what my NUT and I talked about recently to help me get back on track - just let me know.

I can't remember what you can/can't eat 7 months out but I usually have Kay's natural Cereal (buy through Walmart.com) with Fair Life milk. I wasn't a big egg fan prior to surgery but I love a frittata now!

I was so excited when I found Birds Eye vegetable made Pasta in the frozen food veggie section. It is very tasty - high Protein, low carb - nice with some baked chicken!

Same thing happened to me. My husband was eating tuna fish and crackers (of all things) - I had to leave the room.

I personally would just wait a bit to see where the relationship goes...and then if things do become more serious you can always share when you feel more comfortable. GL!

I had sleeve surgery October of 2014.
I was at 308 at my heaviest. I lost 113 pounds so far.
I still have about 40 pounds to lose.
I am so damn hungry all the time, it's like I never got the surgery.
At least it doesn't feel the same, I don't get fool soon, like I use to.
I'm so irritated because just in 4 months it will be my 2 year mark.
What can I do? Has anyone else gone through this?

ForLfKlovr got a reaction from Cervidae in 1/4 of a pepsi
I was a Diet Coke freak! Then a few weeks before surgery I decided to give it up. About 5 months after surgery I tried a sip of Diet Coke and hated it! Then I had a craving for something bubbly so I got a Sprite Zero - nope! Even though I know these things are frowned upon, I find that sometimes I need to revisit some of my old favorites to either satisfy a craving or discover that I am no longer interested.

ForLfKlovr got a reaction from srina076 in 26 days Post op Feeling emotionally weird
Oh absolutely! Speaking for myself - food is something I used for a LONG time to deal with my emotions. And because of my new eating habits and not using food to stuff down my emotions they were all over the place! It is quite a loss and changing/challenging old habits is difficult. Please know that what you are dealing with is normal. It has (and still does) helped seeing a therapist who works with people with eating disorders and is familiar with WLS. There have also been recommended books on bariatric pal that may help with working through stuff. All the best!

ForLfKlovr reacted to gpmed in When did your hair grow back?
Please forgive another thread about Hair loss. I used the search function, but didn't find a thread answering my specific question:
For those further out, when did your hair loss stop and the hair begin growing back?
I know the loss is normal and I'm doing all the right things already. I think it would help to know when I can expect it to stop.
    Thanks in advance!
