    Tablets and supplements

I have been taking Bariatric fusion chewable Vitamins. To me, the taste isn't that great but I just hold my nose while chewing.
  2. My husband suggested that I take 1 scoop of unflavored Protein powder and sprinkle it on things throughout the day (pudding, cottage cheese...). By the end of the day, I would get in that amount of protein (let's say 24 grams - depending on what brand of protein you use). I think that is a super idea but haven't tried it yet. I tried to add a whole scoop to some broth at the beginning of my full liquids stage and it was not tasty to me at all. Good Luck to you!
  3. Ms. Twist, Will you please share what your NUT tells you? Thanks!
  4. I am 4 weeks out and am unsure if I should try recipes with allowed foods or just stick with eating each thing on its own? I am nervous about adding spices or other items not listed to create some of those great recipes I've found. What are your thoughts? Any "recipe" suggestions with the foods listed? By the way, my stomach has been pretty grumpy with me for the last several days so unsure if that would make a difference... Thanks! Here is a list of things I am allowed to eat: soft cooked eggs (cooked with no fat) shredded/sliced low fat cheese cottage cheese or ricotta cheese soft tofu cream of wheat, cream of rice, oatmeal fat free refried Beans pureed broth based Soups low fat, low sugar fruited yogurt soft bananas canned tuna soft cooked veggies hummus sugar free pudding *************************************** next week I can add: soft fruits - peeled or canned in juice tomato juice boiled potatoes unsalted crackers Pasta cut into small pieces unsweetened cold cereals spaghetti sauce ground veal, chicken, turkey, fish soft cooked beans/lentils crustless quiche

    Changing mind during the process

I don't have a person experience with this but wanted to share a story one of my nurses shared with me pre-op. She shared that one potential patient was interested in having WL surgery. Her insurance required that she do 6 months medical weight loss plan first. In those 6 months, she lost the weight and did not need to have surgery. For me, that was something I considered but I knew that WL surgery was my best option. Good luck to you!

What to expect in the hospital

#1 on my list would be a toothbrush and tooth paste and a close 2nd would be chapstick! I also brought a pillow, my Kindle, an extra set of clothes - comfy (but just put on what I wore to the hospital the first day) and slippers (or flip flops). All I remember is being wheeled into the OR being in there not long at all (seemed less than a min.) and then waking up in my hospital room bed. Slept most of the day but walked around the halls late afternoon. The evening was not very restful because they would come in for vitals - but everyone was really nice and helpful. Once they knew I could keep down liquids and was able to use the bathroom (#1), I was discharged. Hopes this helps! Good luck!

    Trouble eating

I am right there with you...and can't move into the next stage until Thursday. Just sharing some things that have worked for me...someone shared that they use nectar Protein powder - and it has been my saving grace! I got the Lemonade flavor and mix it with Water. I think it has 20 grams of protein. I also have been drinking plain milk - for me it is so much better than adding the Protein Powder. Found a brand of milk that has 12 g of protein - Fair Life. Horizon has 8 g of protein. Good luck and keep in mind - it is only 5 days!
  8. Thanks to all for your wonderful responses! Although I feel guilty about not being there - I have decided that I will stay home and rest until Monday. It feels a little self-indulgent but sometime when taking care of myself it just seems that way. Hope you all have a wonderful school year!

    Stalling at week 3

If you are close to a mall - how about walking in the mall? Or, I have several walk aerobic DVDs by Leslie Sansone. All the best to you!
  10. I just had my gastric sleeve surgery on Monday. Everything went well but I did have one issue that is still going on - when I try to get into or out of bed, the incisions on my left side feel like they are pulling and if I don't change positions, they will break open (this also happens at other times but consistently when getting in and out of bed). The pain is the worst I have ever felt in my life. The site doesn't appear to be infected and the nurse said that this can happen. I am taking prescribed pain meds and nurse suggested OTC pain reliever to help. For me, the pain is so severe there has to something that can be done to reduce the amount of pain. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, please share what you did to help with the pain and encourage healing. Also, understanding that everyone is different, how long did this reason for pain last?
  11. Thank you all so much for your suggestions and support!

    My stage 2 is different

Yes, my stage 2 is everything on my stage 1 (clear liquids) and I can add in skim milk and strained, low fat creamed Soups. I've been doing this since Thursday and supposed to last for 14 days total or until I see the dr. for my follow up.
  13. Thanks for sharing - where is the food and nutrition?
