I started at about your same weight. Down 108 lbs, thinking about 20 more and I’ll call “goal”. I have three consultations with plastic surgeons in the coming weeks, planning for skin removal surgery after the new year. No amount of time is going to make my bat wings or belly skin go away, and my poor boobs are so deflated. I see PS as the final step, and my reward for all the hard work I’ve put in.

This is exactly what I'm telling myself. I'm sure I'll need PS, but it will be a reward to myself for kicking ass.

I just got the call I'm back in the schedule for tomorrow! I'll get a call after 2 to let me know what time I go in! Yay!!!

This is so great! I was worried for you. I'd be SO mad if my surgery got cancelled or changed after being on the liquid diet for awhile. I'm a week in the pre-op diet as of tomorrow and I'd rage lol Surgery is June 30th. Any other 30th people out wanna connect hit me up.

Hi Gang! Well, my surgery is at 1:45 tomorrow! (unless I get a call saying it's moved earlier). Today is bag packing day and setting things up for my friend to care for my kiddo while hubs and I are in the hospital. So relieved he can stay with me. Worried last night about a possible UTI. I get 2-3 a year. Took an at-home test this morning and it was negative thank goodness. But feeling the twinges. Wondering what happens if you get one right after catheter? Never had one and hear they can cause them. Particularly in those prone. Anyway, maybe just irritation from the 90 ozs of drinkable Protein I'm guzzling each day? Hoping nothing gets in the way of getting this DONE. Sending allllllll the good stuff out to you guys!!! And I'll take some in return. ONWARD!!!!

You got this! I'm also prone to UTI's, so I feel your concern. I think worst if you get one would just be setting you up with antibiotics like usual and try to force liquids even more. Sending good energy your way. Keep us updated!!

  4. Hey @AlwaysCrusing . I’m worried about the limit of having my partner back there with me too. I haven’t heard from the hospital where the surgery is going to be done for a time/rules/etc yet. Hoping for an early surgery and that I can have someone with me.

They just called me with a new surgery date... June 11 and I start the pre-op diet on Fri. I need to go buy all those Protein Drinks I need. I'm so happy that I won't have time to worry about the surgeries. I wish I hadn't been such a slug these past 8 weeks, but I have two weeks to exercise.

So excited for you. Waiting on that phone call here any day now...

I had my endoscopy last Wednesday, the 20th, got checked in they had me strip to my birthday suit and got an IV started... When they took me into the endoscopy room, they put a mask thing on my nose, it wasn't uncomfortable but it wasn't comfy either. They put a bite thing (not sure what to call it) in my mouth, had me lay on my left side and that was the last thing I remember. I woke up back where I started in the pre-procedure area 15 minutes or so later. I felt fine and worked (from home) the rest of the day!!! I too have Aetna, just have to schedule my consult with the surgeon then wait for approval!!!!! Hoping it is a quick turn around for us both!!!!

Nice! Yes it was very quick, I was definitely out for the entire thing. I told the nurse and she said it’s a much quicker procedure than a colonoscopy so there’s a much less chance of me waking up. She was right! Even went home and slept for like 5 more hours haha.

Hey there! I have Aetna too. But don't require Endoscopy. Was that Aetnas requirement or your surgeons?

Surgeons. He wanted to make sure I didn’t have any “surprises”. They found a hiatal hernia and will fix it during the WLS.

endoscopies are nothing - they'll give you that twilight sedation, so although you'll be awake, you won't be aware of what's going on and you won't remember any of it. It's the same stuff they give you for colonscopies.

Oh goodness. I'm hoping it knocks me out. I've had a colonoscopy with twilight and I was awake the entire time.

  8. Hey all,

I've been working towards this surgery for a while now, and I'm finally at the steps before it actually happens. Nervous, excited, uncertain.... you know the drill.

Just wondering what advice you have going forward. Any questions I should ask. My endoscopy is next week Thursday, bit nervous about that but at least I'll be put under. Anyone have any tips to share about that? How it went?

Anyone else have Aetna for insurance? Also nervous about the approval. I've done all the pre-work and luckily the place I'm working with is very "on it".

Sorry for all the questions. I'm sure this is to be the first of many.

  9. On July 2nd, I started having pretty severe chest pain/tightness that wasn't going away. I've had little "spells" of chest pain before this, but they'd go away. July 3rd, went to the ER. July 5th, had a stent put in at the age of 31 (about 400 lbs that day) due to a 95% blockage in the front artery of my heart.

Since, I have quit smoking cold turkey (no gum or anything), and have lost about 20 pounds by taking out soda, working with a dietitian, and doing cardiac rehab three times a week. Yesterday I met my new primary doctor for the first time. To my surprise, he said he's adamant about WLS. I had thought about WLS in the past (even making this account on this forum last year, I believe?), but it kinda scared me so I stopped looking further.

Doc said with my sleep apnea, BMI, and the heart issue - it'd make for a good case for my insurance. I'll be meeting with him August 3rd to discuss the next steps.

So, here I am. Wanted to introduce myself and share my story so far.
