  1. I was revision sleeve from lapband. I am 6 months post op and down 30lbs. I started at 240lbs. Day if surgery i was 215lbs and today I am weighing in at 185lbs. REALLY SLOW LOSS. Definitely gets me depressed about it sometimes, but at least the numbers are going down! My ultimate goal is 150lbs (I think!) :)

  2. Who was your surgeon? Amazing work!!!!

So my surgeon sent me my "before" pictures yesterday, which of course made me want to take an "after" pic to compare. My surgeon does the "official" after pictures at the 3 month appointment when the scar is more healed. So I snapped a couple of pics today. It amazes me. There's only a difference of about 5 pounds in my weight since before and after surgery, but it seriously looks like a huge difference. I couldn't be more pleased with the results so far.

I have scar sheets on the scar, so we will see how that ends up, but so far so good.

    Seriously amazing

  3. I feel your frustration. I had revision surgery from band to sleeve on June 7th and I just feel like I should be losing faster. I lost 25lbs in the first couple of weeks but the last 3 weeks I've only lost 3lbs. It's a bit disappointing because when I had my band I lost weight a lot more consistently. I'm trying to exercise more and make some adjustments to see if I can kickstart the weight loss again. Damn slow metabolism.

I am also a revision from band to sleeve!

  4. I started at 215 day of surgery and am almost 6 months out and "only" down to 185lbs. When I hear 30lbs down in 6 months I always compare and hear people who are down 70+.... you are awesome!!!!! Goal for me is 160, so as long as I keep going down I will be happy!

  5. Curious- what kind of cost savings are we looking at to have procedures done in Mexico? Are we looking at about half the cost of the USA? Just curious. No where near ready, but figure it to be prudent if I start saving now- especially with three kids in college!

Depending on the surgeon you choose in Mexico versus where you would be having surgery in the US (some cities have much higher costs than others) you can expect to pay about 1/3 to 1/2 of what you would pay in the States. I had an extended Tummy Tuck with muscle repair, breast lift with implants, fat grafting to my butt, and all-over Lipo in Mexico in 2011 for about $11,000 (including the recovery house stay). Where I live in the US, I would have paid probably a little over $30,000 and would have been sent home a day or two after surgery to fend for myself!

wondering if you you would be willing to share before and Afters privately of course? Sending you a message!

  6. I am in the same boat. I was sleeved 1/25/16 and went in weighing 220 lbs. As of today I am only down to 195lbs. I am happy that I am down to my pre baby weight that I got down to with my lapband, but hearing the weight loss of others makes me feel like a total failure! :( I also am totally stuck on lapband habits. I pretty much became a vegetarian with my lapband because nothing would ever go down. Now I have to force myself to eat meat and remind myself that I am able too. I still reach for those little easy go to Snacks that I always knew would "go down." It's definitely been a struggle. And to think I am hitting the 5 month mark and only down 25lbs.......

  7. I will be six months out next week and I started at 244. I have lost 42 pounds. So far this chart runs true for me. It says I can expect to lose 35 to 45 pounds. Sometimes I feel disappointed in myself until I look at this chart again to remind myself that I am doing normal.

That's great!!! I feel the same way. I am 6 weeks out and only down 15lbs. I thought I would drop 20 like nothing. I started at 215lbs, so I figured I may lose slower. Hoping by the 2 month mark I can be down 20lbs. If I can average 10lbs a month I will feel secure in my weight loss!

You won't average 10 pounds a month with a starting weight of 215. You are setting yourself up for disappointment if expect to lose that much that consistently. You may average 10 pounds for the first 2-3 months, but it will slow way down as you get closer to your goal. I was down to losing about 2 pounds a month towards the end there.

I totally understand that. That is what I meant... since I am smaller in weight I would not lose as fast... within 5-6 months, 40 lbs is amazing.. I know eventually (and even now) it will be very minimal and slow. Like I said I am only down 15lbs since January 25th. 10 of those were lost in the first 3 weeks and the other 5 have been lost in the 4th and 5th week. Nothing at all for this 6th week!

Okay, good! Glad you understand. I see so many posts on here from people who really do expect to lose 10-20 pounds a month, month after month, all the way down to their goal and I worry about those people being really down on themselves when that doesn't happen. The message I really want EVERYONE to understand is that the rate of loss doesn't matter AT ALL. As long as the scale keeps trending downward, you will eventually get to your goal. And 10 years from now, when you are living your happy, healthy life, you aren't going to be looking back thinking "Damnit! If only I'd reached goal two months earlier!" It truly does not matter!

Exactly!!!! As long as it keeps going down I am happy! I am a revision from lapband, so I know how this all works and I personally like to set small goals for myself. As of right now I am just wanting to get into Onederland! Then 190 is my goal for now... that was my pregnancy starting weight that has taken me a year to get off the weight! :) I started at 235lbs back in November before I had to lose weight for surgery. So all together of course I am happy to be down 35 lbs total so far!!! :)

  10. I am losing slower than most. I am a band to sleeve revision. I was sleeved on 1/25 and in the day of sugery I was 216 lbs. Today I weigh in at 204 lbs. Not what I was hoping for, but I am happy to at least be going down.... I am going to kick up my workouts and hopefully that will get my weight going going gone! :)

  11. I'm scheduled on the 20th and feel the same as you do.

Hello Everyone! I had my lapband surgery back in April 2010. I am now scheduled for revision surgery to Sleeve on January 25th. I am so excited. I am not nervous about the procedure or anything like that... what I am nervous about, is waking up and being told my doctor was not able to revise me due to scar tissue. His intention is to do it in one surgery. He does not do a second, so I feel like this is my only chance. I feel like I will be mentally defeated if I wake up without a revision. I have spent the last two months getting all my classes, labs, and weight loss in order. I am praying I wake up with a revision.

Any personal stories of others who have dealt with this? Anyone know my chances of having way too much scar tissue? Thanks :)

I'm exactly in the same boat as you. My surgeon is wanting to do both at the same time. I currently have an unfilled band. I was told by my surgeon that 95% of the time this can be done without complications. There have only been a few that he could not do. This would be due to possible band erosions or too much scar tissue. He wont know till he goes in.

I'm really looking forward to not PB or slime all the time and lead a semi normal life. I'm so tired of the slime even when I just eat a frickin berry. My band was so unpredictable.

I have an unfilled band now also after 4 years. I am converting to sleeve, but told I have to do 3 month diet trial, did you?

Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Mine was done at the same time. My sleeve is a little larger than typical because of scar tissue. He only removed about 75% instead of the typically 80 to 85% so he could line up the sleeve with the esophagus where the scar tissue was.

I have slower weight loss but it's still working. I don't experience a lot of hunger but I can eat more than a typical sleeve so I have to be careful with portion sizes now.

Did you have to do a 3 month diet trial for conversion?

Not so much a 3 month trial diet. But my doctor did give me a goal weight that I had to get down to. I was at 235 and had to get down to 220 before getting would do the surgery. So he did give me a diet to follow to get there. But it only took me a month...

  12. I was sleeved on January 25th! So far I am down 10lbs since the day of sugery. Definitely a slower loser compared to others. But he was able to do it all at once!!! The worrying about it definitely consumed me as well. Especially since my doctor is very conservative. I would say stay positive. If my doctor was able to, there is hope for everyone hahaha GOODLUCK

  13. I don't think it is too early since everyone is so different. I myself was so worried with the fact that I am just over a week out and have only lost 5lbs within the first 4 days and nothing at all since. It's easy to start comparing others weight loss with your own and feel discouraged. Just keep following your plans and stay on track! AMAZING JOB on the 23 lbs!!!!

  14. Hello Everyone!

I was revised from lapband to sleeve on 1/25, so today I am one week out. I have lost 5 lbs since the day of surgery. I know everyone is different, but I feel like it's a very low amount. Especially because I lost those 5lbs. within the first 4 days. I dont see anymore coming off before my 2 week post op appt on Friday. (That's would be 5lbs. for the first 2 weeks)

Anyone lose a small amount their first 2 weeks...

    I am 27 yrs old. 5,5" and currently 210lbs

    Thanks :)
