10nsStar reacted to latido in Starting year two, feeling hopeless
I lost 90 lbs total by the time I was 6 months post-op. I haven't lost an ounce since then. I just celebrated my first year and am doing everything right. I was called the model patient for so many reasons, but the numbers are not budging. I am a super-disciplined person, I eat very slowly, have no emotional relationship with food, and cook everything myself.
I am really at a loss. I moved away from my doctor's office after 7 months, and lost all support. No dietitian, no post-op appointments, no blood-work, nothing. Mostly, I mourn the feedback. As my pouch adjusted, I have been able to easily get an entire yogurt down without much effort. I have started adding 5 cherries to my Breakfast yogurts... I am obsessing over my food intake, worrying if I am eating too much (no weight loss) or too little (body in starvation mode). I have no way of knowing unless I get real answers from real professionals.
I am tired of researching and doctoring myself. I am tired of putting together advice from people who have been through it. I really need to shake up my system. I feel like I'm losing time, and that I have only 6 more months to lose weight for real. I am 30 lbs from my goal, and have no hope.
I'm not sure if I'm looking for more advice right now. I just need some feedback from long timers. I think I want to hear about people who lost weight way after their surgery. Maybe I'll be able to stop pressuring myself to catch only this train before it leaves the station.

I started at 364 and in 6 mo I'm down to 260. Been stalled for 3 weeks- wondering if this is the end. I have been eating about 1200 calories is that too much? My surgeon does not have a NUT. I'm eating mostly Protein. For instance yesterday I had a Premier Protein, then a triple zero Greek yogurt, Decaf coffee w SF Creamer, then for lunch 3oz of turkey breast, and 1/4 c of butternut squash, snack had 100 calorie cashew pack, dinner I had 3 oz salmon w 1/4 avocado. And a snack later on a weight watcher cheese stick. And 64 oz of Water w sliced oranges in it - over the day. You think it's too many carbs? Or calories ? Ugh!

Congrats! Sorry you had such a rough tiem with the anethesia. Sips is key. I am two weeks out and it seems like a dream and not reality at this point. I too never thought I would do this, the second or third day I was like WTH did you do. You idiot. I have to keep remembering why I did it. It is a tool. It has been to easy for me, It is like if someone would of brainwashed me years ago I wouldn't have had to go threw this. I quit smoking cold turkey as soon as I said I was going to do it. And haven't really struggled with wanting more food. No Taste and Texture YES!!!
    Good Luck!

I had a drink three days post-op, with no complications. The buzzed effect does hit you harder in my opinion, due to the smaller stomach.

Almost 2 months out and I'm missing having a beer, I only have 1or 2 every few weeks, but u haven't tried, it's confusing reading all thee pros and cons on the Net, some professionals are for and an equal number are against, having the same problem with sweeteners VS sugar, but I'm sure in a few more weeks I will have a beer, we take chance even discussing it on this forum since it is an open invitation for some to judge and jump down our throats, but hey they are just going by what they've heard or read also, I'm pretty sure that if you have your diet under control and choose to have a drink once in awhile there really shouldn't be a problem unless you see an increase in frequency, and begin craving it all the time, the displaced addiction thing they talk about...... CHEERS!!!!!

I am right there with you. I am two weeks out and it seems like it is smooth sailing. I keep thinking it was a dream and a short vacation from work. I have even snuck in cottage cheese because I was wondering if it would make me feel like I actually had the surgery. Still nothing. I feel blessed but wonder what is to come. Good Luck and hopefully we will both continue to have a pleasant ride.

Wow, made it to the other side. I am now a post sleever. Had surgery Monday. Honestly Monday was not a good day, it was because of the anesthesia, and that was my 3rd surgery. Never reacted like that. It was hard to wake up, but I did, pain not bad, nausea not bad. Just got home. Drinking my Protein shake and will drink more Water, sips of course. It has really helped reading this website. Thanks guys, any other August, or September sleevers, please feel free to ask any questions. I am one of those who never thought I would do this, still feels a little unreal.

Don't over buy. What taste good one day you might gag at the next. I purchased a bunch of Soups that I never even opened because they never sounded good. broth, Protein Shakes, jello( I made mine one pre-made I bought made me not eat Jello for several days.). Popcicles. Everything else try a little bit at a time. InjuryChicken is one of my favorites.

Oh I am so glad I found this post. I am able to get in all my liquids and Protein with ease. I am 9 days post op and last night I went to watch a tennis match. I took a Vitamin Water to sip on and realized I not only drank the whole thing I had another one in my purse that was half full and I drank that one as well. Around 24 ounces in 3 hours. It's like I didn't even have surgery. I sipped. And had no pain. I am getting worried this is going all wrong for me.

I'm 6 days out and have no problem getting in 8 ounces of liquid (broth or otherwise) at a time. I'm taking small sips - but can take a lot of small sips. I've found myself thirsty a lot, so just trying to address it with Water - but typically that's with 8 ounces of water in small sips. No pain or cramping at all.

    Post Op 3 days.
I feel great my stomach where my big incision is is still very sore. I have slept most of the time since being home getting up to go to the bathroom and walk. I was hoping I would feel like doing more as I have some fun projects I wanted to work on but not really in the mood. Even TV is not entertaining for me. I am so worried about getting in my liquid. I feel good though and would love ideas on different Protein etc. I had egg drop and wonton Soup with protein added which was really good.
I purchased Thai homestyle soup that I think I am going to add lite coconut milk too to try to get the flavor of Tom Kha Soup.
Thanks everyone and good luck to those who have it coming up.

Wow! Things just got real. I have been scheduled to report to the hospital tomorrow at 11 am. I just received the phone call to confirm and now it's 6 a.m! I had planned such a leisurely morning to get ready and be there by 11. I am happy it is earlier, less being grumpy with no liquids after midnight. Getting excited!
