    Protein Ideas

Your body can only process 30 grams of Protein at once. Maybe drink 2/3 of it, wait an hour and finish. However at 8 months out you should be getting most of your protein with real food. Only Protein drinks to supplement Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

    Hi :)

An egg, it's soft, you can chew to liquid consistency. Hummas. I wasn't allowed Soups, but many are, so try that if it's on your plan. Just no Pasta, rice, potatoes in it. While still in this phase but maybe not the first week, I did turkey and cheese roll up. Just a slice of each. You'll be pretty restricted still. Do stop eating when you think you're full. Do not take that last bite just because. I ate a lot of cheese. Check out pinterest for menus. Just search your phase. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss prevention

I agree with gustavio, save your money. Definitely get in your required Protein and Water for more reasons than just hairloss. I was convinced I wouldn't lose that much, my hair is/"was" so thick. But starting at 4 months, OMG and it continues to come out in huge clumps every time I wash it. I really notice it, but most people do not (so far). I'm approaching six months so i hope to see a turn-a-round soon. It is reported to slow down soon and start growing again. Looking forward to that. Taking Biotin will also produce facial hair, if you care about that.

What Bariatric Vitamins Do I Need?

I'm not sure, it was the nutritionist who had just returned from some Bariatric seminar. She's pretty well renowned, Lillian Craggs and speaks at many of these types of things and writes papers. We just had a monthly group session and there is a Q&A before we start on the topic. Someone asked about Vitamins. I know CCF doesn't recommend specific ones and the patch MD which I use isn't even listed, although she is okay with me using them especially my blood work came back okay. But she did make that comment about not understanding WHY some surgeons recommend Flintstones. Maybe its high in sugar? not sure. I know that that nutritionist doesn't always agree even with their own surgeons when it comes to WLS patient meal plans either. I think surgeons are easier than the nutritionist are is my take-a-way on the topic.

    Can We Eat Frozen Meals?

At two months, you can likely eat the Protein from the tray and feed the pasta/rice/potatoes part to your dog...or toss it. My dog loves my new food plan Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  7. I use to follow the manufacturer direction of mixing GENEPRO with hot liquid at the bottom and mixing genpro with cold on top and/or directly into cooked foods. I did read here someone mixed it with a little Water first (thank you to whomever that was). So I have been using this method now for the past couple of months with success every time. I believer that mixing it with room temperature water first is best. Once I was cleared for coffee, about 2 months post op, I've started my day with genepro mixed in my coffee. That starts my day off with 30 grams. I now put in my genepro and blend with a fork and a little bit of tap water, just enough to mix it (I don't want to dilute it too much), then I add my coffee. At that point it doesn't matter how hot my coffee is. Before this method, if the coffee was too hot it would not blend the Genepro and I'd have little bits of it that would clump and be disgusting and at the price of Genepro, I'd hate tossing that cup. I'm not sure I'd meet my Protein goal if not for supplementing still (5+ months out) with my morning Genepro. I don't notice any change in taste of my coffee. You can probably use this method for Soups and such. Just remember they do not advise microwaving Genepro. I know many aren't sold on this supplement; but I keep reading some newbie post ops complaining they aren't getting their protein in and just wanted to share my mixing tips if you do use it.

    Afraid !

U should let them come off on their own. After two weeks of one edge was lifing, I did find myself lifting the other to help it along. I never ripped any of them off. 5 months post op, I can barely see the scar. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  9. It's the gene pro instructions that say not to microwave. Not sure why, I believe I read somewhere it will lose the nutrients. There are many topics on the real value of Protein. I log it as 30. I typically have a cooked egg white about an hour after I finish my genpro coffee. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  10. Did u have surgery in Fl? Wish my husband would consider it. He's 70. I'm 63 in 11 days, had the sleeve in August. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

    Crying on the bathroom floor

Tell us exactly what you are consuming???? How much did you lose pre op? At two to three weeks, many of us stalled for a week or two. Its weird, but hang in there. In 3 months time, you'll be dancing with joy.

    CONSTIPATION

Yup and it doesn't seem like it improves much. I think in the beggining it was far worse and eventually, you'll just have one BM a week if you are lucky. I hate those Fiber powders that most recommend.
  13. No, I'd say at 5 months, i "feel" 100% healed. I haven't really recalled coughing, but I do sneeze now and then and have never had an issues.

    Fast Food Questions

When I progressed to soft food I really had a hard time getting anything my tummy agreed with. I was about one month out and on a road trip, I stopped in Taco Bell, ordered one taco supreme, and with a fork took small bites of the inside (meat, cheese, low fat sour cream - i pushed aside most of the lettuce as that's very hard to process that early out). I chewed to liquid consistency and it was the most delicious meal I had since the pre op diet started. I don't do that often but know it can be done. I've tried the McD burger once to no avail. I couldn't chew to liquid consistency so tossed it. I can probably eat it now, but I will only resort to fast food in a pinch. I no longer need to chew up my food to liquid, so I need to be careful. BTW, I hate to cook and have no responsibility to do so for family. I've been thinking of trying Pollo Tropical's grilled chicken as I hear its great. My advice as one who is seeing that appetite and ease of eating returns, is to start off this journey with good habits, put an effort into making healthy choices even when stopping in for fast food.

    Instant Results Wanted

After three months post op, I really did feel like I saw instant, dramatic and spectacular results. The first two weeks were uncomfortable and dragged a little because I wasn't at work. But looking back five months, its gone by superfast and I'm 4 pounds from goal. Amazing.
  16. one of my incisions was where my bra would sit, so I second do not wear a underwire, at most a sports bra, or go a'natural if possible. I'd also avoid pants that come to the waist. Try for some pants that ride on your hip to avoid rubbing against your incisions. I had my biggest incision next to my belly button.

Does everyone have to do endoscopy

Insurance didn't require it but my surgeon did. I think usually they do. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  19. That's how I felt for a good four and a half months. Now 5+ months and 5 pounds from goal, it's work not to fall back to old habits. Once your tummy allows you to accept most foods without that uncomfortable feeling get ready to see that you may be tempted by food. It's not a magic bullet that lasts forever. 20. My phase was called soft/pureed. I only did a couple of days where I actually pureed food, it was too messy and I didn't like doing it. I just chewed things up to liquid consistency. I was not allowed fruit. I was able to cook an egg, either scrambled or fried. Ricotta bake. Did a lot of cheese. Rotisserie chicken. Hummus. Took a couple of months to eat beef and shrimp. Pizza that is the ?

I made the cauliflower pizza. It was ok, but didn't do the trick. I found a recipe for pizza in a bowl, low carb. Looked good. The bariatric ricotta bake satisfies my Italian craving too. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

Pre Op Diet *Not losing weight*

Make sure you aren't drinking carbonated drinks (regular soda NOR diet soda). That will stall weight loss for sure.
