What made you get a tat?

My first and only atm is a triqueta incased in a circle on the back of my left shoulder - an old Charmed reference as I two younger sisters and we all did it - it was also my gift to myself for having made it to my one goal of 280 from 323. Second one will be a combo of a Sagittarius/capricorn - as I am both - I plan that one for meeting goal, probably will have it on done on the inside of my lower arm. third and last will happen if I have plastics - I'm sure I will want to, but the reward for saving for it and doing it is going to be a dragon that wraps around me tail starting at my left hip climbing up my back to have the head resting on my shoulder. and honestly I won't care how old I am lol

Nooooooooooooo! You are always so positive! You have got this! When is your surgery btw? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My surgery is on this Tuesday coming up - June 14th @ 11am *takes a deep breath* I think its just the closer it gets... I've been waiting for surgery for almost a year, and now I'm getting a lil nervous
  4. I think you answered her just right, and if she doesn't push then you have nothing to worry about And depending on how she asked... could mean any number of things. Like the lady that posted about her principal asking - the way he asked did seem like he actually cared and wanted to make sure she was alright. I've been really open about my surgery - I seem to have gotten a lot more support from the people I work with bosses and co-workers then family really... and by support I mean positive encouragment! - even at my pizza delivery job lol - they all seem to be really cool about it. I tend to try to be friends with everyone - so, unless we really don't hit it off right away, I consider everyone my friend. Which means I'm a big mouth about a lot of stuff that I should probably keep private, but don't really care if people know or not. Though sometimes I realize after I said something about my personal life - I go uh yeah I probably shoudn't have told them that... I forget not everyone is truely my friend :/ Oh, well - live and learn! My family... is very against the surgery, but they are willing to help me, get me to the hospital, doctors, and help me after I get out of the hospital for a few days before I go home to crazy roommate. So, I know they love me, they're just worried cause I'm manda - I take care of everyone, even the crazy roommate - who is worried about me not making it off the operating table - I told him he wouldn't get that lucky I expect to have some questions, but I think it'll be more from the people that don't see me often.

    Calling tomorrow

My appointments are all over an hour away from me as well - mostly because I choose to go with the Dr that put my lap-band in. However, I made everyone well aware that I lived over an hour away and that all my appointments had to be done on the same day as the others - because coming out there more then once a month wasn't an option as I had to use vacation days to take time off. They should work with you to make sure that happens that way - especially if you schedule them in advance. I might have just got lucky that way. Good luck!
  10. You are SO not a failure! You have lost 300lbs in 4 years... that is freaking AMAZING You will get where you're going, just keep at it... if you're still in contact with your nut - talk to them... mine doesn't want me going over 80g of Protein, so you might be getting to much which might be causing you to stall out/go into maintance. Though to be honest - I still haven't figured out how all that works yet. I'm working on it though...

    Partner's opinions on loose skin?

I think you're misunderstanding her - she's not talking about money for the WLS surgery - she said she doesn't feel she will ever have the extra money for plastic surgery later on after she loses the weight from WLS.

    people not educating themselves

There is a substantial percentage of the population who absolutely refuse to listen to anything said to them. I see it everyday. I saw it in my bariatric introduction seminar... the surgeon says, "Now, after the surgery, your Protein goal is X per day." And literally two minutes later, a hand goes up in the (very small) audience, and their question is "Is there a protein goal each day after surgery?" These are the people who refuse to listen to anything unless you clasp their hands in yours, look them in the eyes and repeat everything twenty times and say prettyprettyprettyplease and compliment them on their hair. And they'll still be clueless even after you do that. If by some miracle they remember any bit of it, they'll still most likely not remember who told them, or may become convinced that they made the determination themselves. Average people are still pretty stupid. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. " -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I probably would have been that person with my hand up asking... because I didn't hear the doctor say it. And I would have done it because I'm deaf/hard of hearing, so, seeing posts, or listening to people talk about others like this makes me wonder if that might have been their issue too. I do assume that some people are not paying attention and get annoyed with them too, however, when I read something like this it makes me stop and think that maybe they have my same problem. *shrugs* Asking a question that has already been answered doesn't make me stupid - just deaf/hard of hearing - mostly deaf... but still. Sorry this touches on a nerve cause my roommate reacts this way to everything with me and he knows I'm deaf.
  17. Sounds so cliche, but I'm at the darn gym trying to keep my mind off food and what comes on a McDonald's commercial and it looks good... and I don't even freaking like McDonald's!!! Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

    The great straw debate!

@@PayItForward You do not get wrinkles from sucking... on straws. You get wrinkles from cigarettes because the smoke that is constantly around your face when you smoke makes your skin age faster. It has nothing to do with the act of sucking on anything. or I'd look like a prune by now...

    The over 40 crowd

I can't wait to see how far I've come when I turn 40 in 6 months... everyone has always thought I looked a lot younger then I am (I think a lot of it has to do with my uh child-like attitude lol), soooo when I toast in my 40th birthday - I hope that I'll finally be able to say I made it and that I'll outlive the 'curse' of my family dying young... If I leave this world because I'm supposed to, I can deal with that - but leaving it because of something I could have prevented. Not an option - I have ruggies that need me!

    I'm doing it wrong

Thank you - I printed this out to read later
  22. sounds good - I'll have to try this after surgery - I'm in the liquid pre-op now... 1st day - so far so good.
  23. I don't know - I know a lot of ladies that really ARE comfortable in high heels. One in particular, she wears them even to the pool. Maybe that's what you're trying to make me see - my idea of comfort is totally off from hers...
  24. heheh - that's the thing with my sister - I may not have given birth to her, but I did raise her as my parents were never home - or if they were it was usually after she was already fed and put to bed. From the time she was brought home until I left her when she was 19 to move to texas (granted she came down with me 4 months later) - she was(and still is) my world, she kept me from making a lot of bad choices in my life because I had to be there for her. So, basically she is/was the child I will never have You're right though - now that she is grown I really shouldn't try to push my views on her, but its hard to keep them to myself when I'm STILL trying to teach her things. She has come so far, and she is a better person then I ever will be. I tell her that and she just gives me the whatever manda look.
  25. I think that is why I don't say anything to my sister, though I have been known to give her looks (i'm kinda expressive with my looks - sorry) - if she's comfortable wearing it fine - but the thing is... she really isn't, she fidgets in her clothes - pulling them up or down because they don't fit right, but she Still insists on wearing them. and you're right - the fact that she is comfortable enough in her own skin to post a picture of herself is worthy of praise. I just don't like her clothing choices. I shouldn't judge her and I know that. I've been overweight my whole life... since I was 9 years old, and anytime my mom tried to MAKE me wear fitting clothes I hate it, so maybe that's why I don't understand wearing clothes so small. It doesn't even look comfortable. and if you're not comfortable in what your wearing, why wear it?!
