Nikki Monroe got a reaction from sleeveforme2016 in January 2017 sleevers
Hey there! I found your pictures to be very motivating. I had my sleeve done October 2016 and lost 65 lbs initially and have gained about 15 lbs back. I know I am not doing what I should be doing. I had an gym knee injury after already have my ACL replaced that kind of threw me off my journey. My goal is to lose another 35 lbs. I see you are doing the low carb or no carb thing and I was thinking about that myself. Do you mind sharing some tips, what to eat and what not to eat? Whatever you can share is appreciated. I just need to find my groove again so I can finally meet my goal! Thanks in advance!

I lost track with the St. Louis group. From what I remembered they met up down at the South City Library once a month, but that was like a year ago the last time I heard from them. I am willing to start up a meet up if enough people are interested in it. I live in Hazelwood but work downtown off Chouteau and Jefferson. So I can meet up basically anywhere.

I have heard this as well. I got pregnant 5 months after surgery. I gave birth completely naturally without any complications or drugs at a birthing center. I didn't even get Tylenol! I got up and walked out with my baby girl 4 hours after giving birth and felt great. Labored in a tub got out and delivered on a bed. They did consider me high risk because I had a very healthy pregnancy. No issues and in range for all test while pregnant. YOU will have to educate THEM. They know nothing about bariatrics. I went prepared with papers and research on what I needed to do and what MY plan was to have a healthy pregnancy. Boost your healthy Snacks and do your homework and you can do it. Don't let anyone tell you you can't have the birth you want because you simply can't eat as much at once. Best of luck to you and congrats!!!!

In Scotland if you have had/have a lapband your automatically under consultant care and Water births are out. It's mainly due incase band slips or is damaged due to getting compressed in pregnancy. Sleeves are monitored but not high risk.
I was consultant care for my delivery and had midwife do everything until I knew my daughter was stuck and forceps used. Nothing wrong with it, still a vaginal birth and only on entanox - no medals needed here.
Speak to your OB - we are put onto BC the minute we see surgeon as 18 months minimum is required to heal fully and get settled into your new diet regime.
    Everywhere is different tho.

I can't imagine why the sleeve would impact delivery style or position. I gave birth to 9 babies - but all pre sleeve. Had to have intevention/help with a few of them, had some of them naturally without a lot of intervention. when the intervention was needed I was thankful it was available but for me, the experience was better when everything went according to plan and naturally. Always wanted a Water birth but the Dad was too scared. :-) Best wishes to you.

Thank you everyone one for your opinions and the financial tips! LOL! They are respected and appreciated. I did tell the guy I was dating and now in a serious relationship in last night. I decided to wait until we were official and I told him even sooner because now I have to have my gallbladder removed and he wants to be there with me. I didn't want him finding out in the hospital about my sleeve and being shocked and confused. He was BEYOND very supportive and said that it didn't changed how he felt or viewed me at all. All he wanted to know is why did I make the decision to have the surgery and once I gave him my reason, he was fine with it and understood. I asked him if he had any questions related to the actual surgery and he said he didn't need to know. He just needed me to know that he is still here with me and not going anywhere. I'm glad I told him and it took a huge weight off of my shoulders. You never know how people will react or if they will say something that will turn you off and ultimately end things but it was perfect for me!

    Hey October Sleevers!!!
How is everything going? Just wanted to check in with everyone and see how the weight loss is going, How close are we to goal? Are we still motivated? Do we need some motivation? Is your stomach still talking out loud? LOL! Lets have an update!!
    Here are my stats:
    Starting weight/size: 264/ size 18/(1X&2X)
    Surgery weight: 255
    One Month: 242
    Three Month: 226
I am 203 lbs now and a size 12/14. My first goal weight is to lose another 23 lbs and then to evaluate were I want to be 10 lbs at a time. I did have a nice little stall for about a month and a half but when it broke I dropped 5 lbs which made me VERY happy! Losing this last little bit is proving to be very challenging but I am trying to stay consistent with going to the gym 4-5 a week doing weights 3 days a week. I can eat whatever I want without any problems though sugar makes my stomach make LOUD noises still!
Let us know whats going on!

Had my gallbladder taken out yesterday morning at 9am and can honestly say that this was way easier than the sleeve as far as recovery from the surgery itself. I was up walking around 4 hours after surgery and discharged by 630pm. I'm home and feeling better already. I'm so glad it went smooth. Thanks for the help!

I had my gall bladder removed 3 years ago. It was an outpatient surgery. The air inside my body from the surgery was the worst part, but subsided the first day. I took two weeks off of work but was fine after one week. Everyone is different, but I hope yours goes just as smoothly.

Good luck with the gall bladder removal! For me it was no more pain or worries when the next attack would come, how bad the pain would be and how long would the attack last.
I was told to be careful with fatty meals post op. And later on I did not notice any changes in my digestion, and no malabsorption.
I had frequent diarrhoea, but this was due to my Graves/Hyper-thyroid disease.
Some people have reactions to heavy/fatty meals after the cholecystectomy, I didn't.
My gall bladder was taken out 20 years ago, well before my WLS.
I hope you get more replies to your question.
Good luck, and get that sucker out!

@@Nikki Monroe I was in so much pain with a gallbladder attack requiring emergency surgery that the recovery seemed easy. Similar to sleeve surgery - they pump up your abdomen with gas - so there is pain and being uncomfortable from that. My gallbladder was seriously infected so I stayed one night inpatient. I honestly don't remember all that much pain after surgery. I think I stayed out of work for 3 weeks but I'm sure I could have gone back sooner (just didn't want to). Good luck!

I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago, in 1996.
A radioactive scan for my kidneys revealed a huge gall stone in my gall bladder.
I started having horrendous pains in my right side, it felt I was being stabbed with a knife! Though the pains were not constant, every attack left me feel more and more sick and scared.
So, I had my gallbladder removed, under full anaesthetic, and I was in a hospital for 2 days/1 night.
The absolute worst for me was the gas pain afterwards. It was so bad that I didn't even feel pain at the incision site!
The gas pain was constant and it felt like an enormous cramp in my shoulder.
I had strong pain killers, thankfully.
I had to massage the shoulder a lot.
I had a week off work, and really I bounced back quickly.
The shoulder pain went away, but being so long ago, I don't remember exactly when it went away.
I was told to stay away from fatty foods.
    Hope this helps.
    Good luck with your op!

I am dating someone new and I told him pretty early on. We were eating together often and if I didn't tell him, he would have thought I didn't like his cooking. He's fine with it. He's got extra skin himself cause he lost a lot of weight when he retired and wasn't sitting all day.

    @@Nikki Monroe,
Telling him you’re eating a little more often is a good and truthful way to handle it, even if it’s not the whole truth. If you’re not yet ready to tell this guy about your surgery, you could always say you’re trying to lose weight, which is also truthful and still not the whole truth.

Unless I am going to be joining my finances with someone, there is no reason for them to know my credit. I live in my own home, pay my own bills, own my car and multiple businesses. I don't need financial support from my partner, so my finances are none of their business.
Likewise, I don't need someone to make medical decisions for me, I already have a person, my best friend, and it is likely to stay that way for some time.
My point is there is absolutely no reason to disclose things to people that don't involve them and area none of their business. There are levels to relationships and personal disclosure, there is no reason to tell someone your whole life out the gate.

I'm 15 mos post op and I'm currently in a new relationship. I did tell him I lost a lot of weight, but I never told him how. I know that my scars are gonna raise questions one day, and when that day comes I'll tell him then. But we've been intimate and because I still am insecure about my body and excessive skin he really hasn't seen my scars, because I never fully get naked, and plus the lights are always off, but I'm expecting that I'll eventually have to tell him about the weight loss surgery. He did say that I shouldn't be insecure about getting naked in front of him because he loves me just the way I am, but I see all this excess skin and I'm scared that he's gonna take one look and be totally disgusted. So far he has been very supportive so I think he'll be ok when he finds out about my surgery. If not he can kick rocks with an open toe shoe.
