Remix got a reaction from logicwand in Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?
I started pre op at 185 lbs (I'm 5'7"). Surgery was July 11 and I was 180 lbs. It's been almost 7 weeks and I weigh 151 lbs today.
I've been happy with my results thus far. I've been exercising daily for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I think the results on the scale don't compare with the results I've had in health and in losing inches. I feel so much better and am able to exercise and really push my body to it's limits.
I do get down sometimes when I see others who had surgery the same time as me talk about the 40 or 50 lbs they've lost but then I think about the fact my bmi has gone from obese to overweight to normal in less than 7 weeks! Pretty great! Still have a ways to go to get to my goal weight but it's an exciting journey we are on! We'll get there!!

I got my surgery done in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Surgeon was Dr. Hidalgo. He was amazing. No troubles at all. I went the sleeve route because my bmi was only 30. I'm now at bmi of 22 (142 lbs) and feel amazing!
The hospital was clean and ran smoothly. The Dr was terrific. Some of the staff didn't know English but the Dr is completely fluent and easily understood. I was alone and felt safe and well cared for from the moment the plane landed in PV until I sadly had to leave their beautiful country.
No complaints whatsoever. I was literally laying on the beach 2 days after surgery. I was walking hours after surgery. The next day it didn't even feel like I'd had surgery. Great care. I'd totally recommend this Dr.
I'm a Canadian. The flight was 5.5 hours. I was just careful to stay hydrated and walk around on the plane to ensure I didn't get a blood clot.
Don't let people scare you with warnings of Mexico. People have unfounded ideas about dirty hospitals and corrupt Dr's etc. From my experience, it's quite the opposite. Just do your research and talk to the surgeon before committing to the surgery. Good luck on your journey!

A quick story. I used to ride motorcycles. A lot. Back when I was doing that I had several shirts that I used to ride in and they all were black with flames coming up from the bottom. I ordered a shirt and it came with this shirt and they never fit. I swear that the black one is actually an XL labeled as a 2XL. I hung them up in the closet and swore that I would wear them someday. That was 2003. That day is finally here! Although this definitely isn't my style anymore, I'm wearing this dang thing. The black one is my next goal.

My hubby and two teen daughters know. My own sister doesn't know. Anyone who has asked (I'm two months out of surgery and down 56 pounds over 6 months) I say I'm working with my doc and a nutritionist and following their advice religiously and that my diet is very high Protein, very low carb and I'm working with a personal trainer. Every last bit of that is true. Should someone ask directly if I had surgery, I will look them straight in the face and ask them if they had sex last night (which I would do when people asked when I was going to have children.) That generally makes folks realize immediately how far over the line they have gone.

I am working with my doctor on a high Protein, high fat, low carb diet and I am moving my ass a LOT.

    Period.

Any further questions simply get a full resting bitch face and a reply of "I'm sure you didn't mean to sound as rude as you did."

No one has ever asked me if I had surgery. If they did, I would simply ask them why they thought they had the right to ask me such an intrusive question.

Holy cow am I excited! I didn't intend to buy a pair of pants today but I just wanted to try on a couple to see where I was at. I went into a local Farm and Ranch store and spoke to the gal there. I showed her what I was dealing with I'm told her what size I was and that I was tired of looking like I was wearing a diaper on my ass everywhere that I went. She suggested based upon my current size that I go to 35x30. This lady is absolutely insane was my freaking thought! Imagine my surprise when they were actually too loose! I needed a 34x30! Several weeks ago I got out of my van at a customer's place and my shorts fell off my butt. I really didn't think that I was quite this far along. I will officially be 6 weeks out tomorrow and I've lost 7 pounds since Monday! I'm down 47 pounds since starting my pre op diet on 8/29. I'm officially the lowest weight that I've been in mt ENTIRE adult life at 265 pounds! It was such an adrenaline rush that I actually bought the dang pants even though I wasn't intending to.
Last weekend with my diaper ass Levis.

Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(perhaps to many exclamation points? Heck no!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously look at Mexico. I paid $4500 and that included travel. The amount you are quoting is ridiculous. Treatment in Mexico (assuming you do your research) is wonderful and the surgeons are highly skilled.

I wouldn't rule out Mexico! I had my surgery there, paid $4600 all inclusive except travel. For those who have a hiatal hernia, doctor will repair it for an additional $350 or so. I'm am so happy I chose Mexico!

Remix reacted to VSGAnn2014 in Gaining Weight after one year post sleeve! PLEASE HELP!
I assume y'all know this, but if not ... the sleeve doesn't restrict slider foods like chocolate, sweets, popcorn and ice cream. Those are the foods found in the Sleeve Handbook in the chapter called: "How to Regain Your Weight Fast." (joke, but not really)
I also assume y'all know this, but if not ... the more sugar you eat, the more you crave it. And the only way you can kill that monster is to cold-turkey sugar.
Here's another tip -- if you go back to eating a high, high, high Protein diet and a low, low, low carb diet and drink at least 64 ounces of Water for a week or so, you will be shocked at how tight your stomach will feel and how little you will crave sugar. In a month or two you can lose the ten pounds you've regained. And you'll also have learned some things you needed to learn about maintenance.
But here's the challenge you will face: To kill the cravings and get your stomach feeling like a sleeve again and get your head back on straight, you have to make these changes in a very disciplined way. No exceptions.
    Good luck.
EDIT: I'm not saying that you can't ever eat sweets, but in moderation and only if sugar is not a terrible trigger food for you. Only you will know that.

I have been losing/gaining the same 2-3lbs for the last month. It's discouraging, but I think I'm finally through with this cycle. My body hasn't been under 200lbs since I was a teenager and I think it is revolting. My brain certainly was. I was eating too many carbs. It was easy enough to do.
Once I kicked the extra carb habit I've dropped to my lowest weight so far. As of today I have lost exactly 100lbs.
I hope everyone is doing well

I haven't had many NSV I'm only two months out so everything is slowly changing. Last week I had a few of my students make comments about how skinny I'm getting and how great I look- that is coming from HS students. I was also able to get into a pair of pants two sizes smaller today pants I haven't worn in at least 7 years-before I had my youngest!

Hi there. Your original post sounds like me last year. I had a bmi of 30, I was doing everything I could to lose the weight with no success.
Today marks 8 months since my sleeve surgery in Mexico. I've lost 50 lbs. My bmi is now 21. I've gone from obese to overweight to normal.
I'd say do the surgery. It was the best decision I've made. I'm so happy and healthy and living life to the fullest. The surgery has less risk of complications and an easier recovery for those of us with lower bmis. The day after surgery, I felt great and the day after that I was on the beach & it didn't even feel like I'd had surgery!
It's your own decision but I just wanted to let you know I can completely relate to your story. Wishing you the best!
    Take care!
