Tobeornottobe got a reaction from Alex Brecher in How Often Do You Actually Cook?
I make a weekly menu. Use the menu to shop for ingredients (what veggies do we need, meat etc.). We generally cook 6 out of 7 days.

Tobeornottobe got a reaction from Alex Brecher in Calling Vegan BariatricPal Members: Which Protein Powder Do You Use?
Clif Builder Bars (20g) are vegan and available at most grocery stores. I also like Barre bars but they have limited availability and only 10 grams of protein, great in a pinch but a but expensive. I love chia bars but they are low in protein.
Honestly those are the only ones I use.

It's important for me to be able to read what's in it and low is sugar. My preferences are pea Protein and brown rice. I like the mix in Plant fusion which includes quinoa, amaranth and pea protein. I'm not a fan of hemp as it gives me stomach issues. I prefer the flavoring be natural but that's not always possible in powders.
I usually order my protein via the internet, Jet.com, Amazon.com or directly from the manufacturers site. Protein is available at local stores, Target, Harris Teeter, Giant, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe but I find the pricing to be higher than online.

Tobeornottobe got a reaction from Daisee68 in Feel like quitting ! Please help
they tell me they won't know the requirements until the surgeon submits paperwork for the surgery. Is that the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard??
This is the most ridiculous I've ever heard. You have the right to know what your insurance policy states. I have a feeling it probably the same across the board for the Blues. I would continue to call and if I don't get an answer, I would ask for a supervisor.
What ever you do, DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!
Another quick note: for the October weigh in, you could have taken a video of yourself weighing in at home on your scale for documentation.
Hang in there.

Tobeornottobe got a reaction from Catmom4 in Pre-op Gastric sleeve questions?
I'm compiling a list of questions for my pre-op meeting. Every time I think of something I write it down. I carry a small notepad in my purse.
Hope that helps.

Tobeornottobe got a reaction from Soli3l in Enrollment time for new Health Insurance 2016
You can buy health insurance without utilizing healthcare marketplace. You can go the route of private insurance brokers. Please note, there isn't much of a difference between what you find in the marketplace and what you get from a private broker.
Good luck.

Good Luck!!! I am in a similar place. I saw my surgeon on Thursday and he said the office would send it to my insurance for approval on Friday. I plan on calling my insurance tomorrow (Wednesday) to check on the status. I just REALLY prefer not to have it sitting on someone's desk for a week waiting for approval.
I agree that it's your health. I say be proactive and follow-up with the coordinator to make sure she DID make the call and receive it. Honestly, being a 'squeaky wheel' is the best way to get things accomplished... as long as it's in a polite manner.

I do have my date, December 9th. So I have a few weeks to get things straight. I'm a bit of a control freak :-).
When I received the call from the coordinator, she give me dates for my last 3 pre-op appointments, 2 with the surgeons and my last visit with the nurtitionist. I'm very happy not to feel rushed with everything.

My paperwork was submitted on Tuesday of last week. I got the approval on Friday.

That's excatly the way I thought. I actually called Cigna on Friday and they told me it was pending and to call back this week. So I put an appointment on my calendar for Thursday of this week. When I got home Friday evening, the coordinator called me to tell me the approval had been received.
It can happen, hang in there.

I have Cigna and I was approved in 2 days. I was actually prepared for a week or longer as the company line is 15 days.
Sending positive vibes your way.
