  1. DojiGirl

    African American vsgers!

I was going back through this list! Love it! Everyone is very encouraging! I read that Blerdgirl likes to keep Protein to 100 grams a day. I usually land about 65-80grams, and just wondered what are some ways that people get in their Proteins. I drink Isopure which adds 40mg of protein! (Those are my great days!) But even at 4 months out, I still feel like I can't eat much, when it comes to meats. Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated!
  2. @@hopalopa67 My NUT gave me a short list of foods that would be appropriate right now. I just had no idea that my tastes and tolerances would change so much. I'm really trying to eat a variety of things, because I easily fall into the habit of eating the same thing over and over. One thing that I think was a problem was I started ground beef at the point I was told I could, but I wasn't ready for it! I guess it just depends NUT to NUT, my friend who had this surgery a year ago, was on soft foods for 8 weeks! Thanks for the menu ideas hopalopa67 and GirlOnFire!!!
  3. I ended up in the hospital on Tuesday with colitis. Definition, constipated beyond belief. Worst two days ever. Now I am afraid to eat and have gone back to softer foods. I have been especially afraid to start the protein shakes again, so I have been having Isopure clear drinks. What foods are others eating at 5-6 weeks out?
  4. @@lucky1gg33 Wow! It's like you were reading my life. Thank you for this post, it is very encouraging!!! My stall that occurred the 2 and 3 weeks had me really down at times. The scale and I can now only "see" each other weekly!
  5. I too loved milk beforehand, now it is no. 1 on the "I don't think so" list! i have used it in Protein shakes, but I'm always left feeling a bit queasy. I hate to ditch the milk because I need the calories....I'm still between 400 and 600 if I really try. I'm a writer/artist, so like you, my hands just aren't into the constant holding the bottle and drinking! But most days I do get my water. I have to agree with @@hopalopa67, the surgery, even though it's been an odd learning experience, has been the best thing I have done! I haven't lost a ton of weight, but my clothes feel better and I just feel lighter! Now if I could only make peace with milk!!! Hope ya'll are doing well!
  6. I hope you feel better soon and the added food choices give you a bit more energy! Congrats on your weight loss! Hugs and prayers to you!
  7. LOL! I will. You also look like you have done great! I guess I was finding too many "I only eat 40 carb" posts!
  8. Thanks, that helps to know. I'll not worry about it.You look like you have done really well, so I'll just keep my eye on the protein and water!
  9. That's what I'm planning to do. I guess I was just looking for dialogue about what other's post ops looked like and were any like mine. This forum is pretty much the only place I have to "talk" about the process, and I had seen that people said the boards really helped them with the journey.
  10. I had my 10 day post op with my surgeon and nut on Friday. I have lost 12 pounds since my surgery, with a total loss of 30 with what I loss from the pre-op liquid diet. For the first ten days after surgery, I was lucky to get in 300-400 calories a day. I would hit my Protein goals of 60grams and hit Water goals. My doctor says he does a tighter sleeve than many other docs. And he wants me to get my calorie count up into the 1000-1200 range before I can start working out in the gym so I don't have serious caloric deficits. My nut laid out a few ways that I could add calories to my shakes, which I tried over the weekend, and was able to bring my calories up to the 700-800 range. But that meant that now my carbs are up at 70-80, which is where my Proteins are too. They both told me not to mind the carbs, just get the calories. I will try this, but I have scoured the boards and don't see where anyone else has done something like that. Kinda scares me. It's only been three days but my weight has fluctuated up. I will talk with my nut again, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation of higher carbs in the liquid and puréed stages, and did it work?
  11. Hi all, Had my 10 day post op with my surgeon today! He said I was doing great, but needed to get more calories in. From my tracking on Fitness Pal, my days went from 240-380. He wants me to raise that before he gives the okay for me to start at the gym. And hopefully it help with the tiredness. BW 330 SW 311 CW299.5 I cannot tell you how happy I am to be out of the threes and into the twos! Hope everyone is doing well.
  12. Is that two more weeks Clear Liquids? Or do you get to go to Protein Drinks with milk? I sorta cringed when I read what you wrote, cause I am with you, the protein drinks are cloyingly sweet. I keep playing over and over in my mind what would be a good taste....still stumped! I think I may forever hate the flavor "orange"! Glad to hear you had a good report from your doctor....and hope your dizziness is just the bp meds. I was able to stop at three places (errands) and get my walk in, of course I feel like a drowned rat now, but I feel a real sense of accomplishment! Hope everyone is doing well!
  13. Wow! 30 minute walk and the grocery store! The walk I can imagine, but not the store yet. I still feel overwhelmed by lots of outside stimulus and noise. I feel very good, but oddly fragile...like my mind is awake and yet my body feels floaty and I am not on pain meds. My NUT said that some people don't get the anesthesia out of their system as quickly as others. Been sleeping well and doing better on my Protein. Yesterday I tried something called "Frog Fuel". It's a protein gel that comes in a tiny packet. It's 15 grams of protein and tastes like rancid sweet tarts. The worst part of it is the mind part of it. As I squeeze it out, I just kept thinking about frogs! Ugh! Barely made it through it...had to keep telling myself I'd be so happy to get the protein. But it's not for the faint of heart or high of imagination! @texaschick...hope you feel better and that your doctor appointment goes well!
  14. Had my surgery on the 7th. I have been sleeping in a recliner too! And over the last two days walking like an old woman, trying to remember to stand up and not let the "stitch" keep me stooped. The first day I had problems with not pacing myself on liquids and would go from fine to burping and coughing in one sip! I have been sipping Isopure, but have only been able to get in about 20 grams of Protein in my 2 days since coming home from the hospital. Other than minor pains here and there, doing pretty well.
