I am so very happy I finally made it out of the 300s this morning a number I never want to see again! But the question now is how to Celebrate this milestone? Our culture is so centered on food and drinks to celebrate, but those things got me into the 300s to begin with! So how do you all celebrate these milestones post op?

Reading through the various topics on this site it occurred to me that there seem to be many different post op diets. People mentioning stages and such. Through my program we were started on 2 tbs per meal and to add a tsp every 12 days or so. I am currently 7 weeks post op and my meal size is 3 tbs and 1 tsp. Are others having similar restrictions? I am to be at 4 tbs aka 1/4 cup by the 3 month mark. I have seen other diets posted where people are going home to 1/4 cup. I wouldn't try to eat that much cause if I go over my 3 tbs and 1 tsp right now I know I'd pay a price. So just curious are others having these tight of restrictions?

You are most welcome they also have this recipe in my post op book but I have not tried it since the papaya has worked so well, its as follows though: 1/2 teaspoon Adolph's unseasoned meat tenderizer, 1 teaspoon lemon juice mixed with 1/2 cup of Water, Mix Well and Sip Slowly.

I had a major meltdown about this just about a week ago. I cried myself to sleep, thinking to myself I will never be able to eat like a real person again. It took a few days to pull out of that funk and I'm doing better now, I am 7 weeks out today, yesterday was my birthday and I didn't really do anything. I am rambling now, but yes this is something I wish I had known prior to surgery!!!

I wish someone had told me that there is a mourning period for never being able to eat like you did. My surgeon told me he could take care of the "belly hunger" but not the "brain hunger". That is something I deal with every day. I have NO REGRETS in getting the surgery.

    I wish I had known:
    1. That depression is pretty common for the first few weeks after surgery: mourning food, feeling uncomfortable, looking at a seemingly insurmountable goal. GOOD NEWS>>>>depression lifts, pain/nausea resolves, goal gets closer and closer every day!
    2. To NEVER compare your weight loss with others.....we all lose at our own pace (for a variety of reasons). GOOD NEWS>>>>>if you work the plan, the weight WILL come off, and my slower loss gives me more time to practice the plan and good habits that hopefully will be easier to maintain once at goal (as they will be sooooo ingrained).
    3. To focus on non-scale victories (ie. clothes fitting looser, fitting in seats better, less joint pain, etc). GOOD NEWS>>>>>these NSVs are the reason why we do this....we did it to feel better!
    4. That you will stop missing the foods that you thought you couldn't live without. GOOD NEWS>>>>healthy stuff starts tasting better than it did before! A couple of fresh strawberries for dessert really IS a treat (vs a ton of M&Ms). Seemingly unbelievable, yet somehow true.

Hello nancynew, things are going pretty well, I had some anotomy difficulties for the doctor to work around during surgery, this made the surgery take twice as long. My stomach emptied on the opposite side of where it should. But all went well, and the surgery has been successful so far. Today is 4 weeks post op for me, 31 lbs down from surgery.
