    All August Sleeves

I sure hope you feel better today. Congrats on the weight loss!

    Today is the day!

@@njmomof4kidz I am so sorry you're struggling with nausea. Ugh! I took anti-nausea meds my doctor prescribed. If I were you, I'd call my surgeon and ask for a med to be called into my pharmacy. It's important you feel as good as possible so that you can get in all your fluids AND feel well enough to walk, walk, walk. I hope I don't sound bossy... It's just what I would personally do. I hope you feel better!!

I've taken the test a couple of times over the past few years. Always an ENFP.
  5. @@ylluz I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon. @@TXTinana I'm getting around 66g of protein a day cause I'm drinking two protein shakes and having one-half cup of blended cream of chicken soup. Ive got some chicken soup flavored protein powder on the way so I can have soup twice a day. I can add a scoop to my soup to boost the protein. I can let you know if it's any good.

    Sleep study

There's nothing to it!! I was scared, too, but it was no biggie at all. Went in, they put in an IV, took me back to the OR, asked me to take a bunch of deep breaths after they put an oxygen mask on me, then they were waking me up saying it was done! It is such a short procedure that they don't have to put you very far under, so you wake up quickly. You'll do fine!!

    I'm really sick.

@@tssiemer I am so sorry. You sound miserable. I really hope you feel better soon. For what it's worth, I didn't feel so hot for a few days after my surgery, but I never felt even remotely as bad as you do now. I really believe what you're experiencing at this moment is likely much, much worse than what you'll feel after surgery.

    Surgery at 10:30am Help

I had a very similar demeanor the day of my surgery. Normally, I'm super-scared before any type of surgery - haven't had that many, but I've always felt terrified. However, on the day of my WLS, I didn't feel one iota of fear or anything else. It just kind of felt like any other day. SOOOOO not like me! Lol! I hope you're feeling the way you do because you know you're doing the right thing, you feel educated about what's going on and you are absolutely ready to begin your new sleeved life! Wishing you all the best of luck!! You're going to do great!!!

    Today is the day!

Well I am back home, I cannot believe that it has finally come and I got approved, have an excellent surgeon and I feel a lot better than yesterday. I am having a very hard time getting my liquids in. They make me nauseous but I am trying. Hopefully tomorrow it will be easier. I'm glad you feel better than yesterday. Those fluids are nearly impossible to get in right after surgery. It will get a little easier each day. Keep your chin up!

    Another Surgery :(

I understand. Surgeries in general make you feel like poo for a few days, there's the disruption in your schedule, etc. Hoping this one will be the last you'll need!

    Zumba!

Zumba is on my "to do" list once I'm released for more intense exercise!
  15. @@thinkingthin15 That whole fullness thing had me stymied as well! I haven't felt a sensation of fullness since surgery. I did a search of these boards this afternoon (I'd about convinced myself my surgeon didn't really take out part of my stomach! Lol!) and it turns out that a lot of people don't have a sensation of fullness for a while because the nerves in the stomach have yet to heal. The general consensus is just to measure your food carefully to make sure you don't eat too much. You should be fine.

    Meal ideas

Hi! I'm not where you are yet, but I did a bunch of research ahead of time because I get so bored easily with the same foods. I've stockpiled a bunch of recipes from theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogpost.com . She had bypass many years ago. Also, you can get some yummy-looking recipes right here. Go to the top of the page, click Forums, then click General Weight Loss Surgery Forum, then click food and Nutrition. Hope that helps!

    Sleeve vs. Bypass

Apparently I hit some sort of nerve, and for that, I'm sorry. The point I was trying to make is you can lose weight with the sleeve and with bypass without exercise. However, if the patient does not exercise at all (whether they got the sleeve or bypass), and keep good eating habits, they will gain the weight back. There really is no difference. I've seen bypass people shed the weight in no time, then gain all of it back, plus more, because they didn't exercise and keep good eating habits. Btw, it just goes to show everyone is different. I remember reading about maintenance being 10X harder and being taken aback by that...I would have thought losing it was harder.

  22. I'll try to keep this short, but I just realized something and can't stop the stupid tears... When I was researching sleeve surgery, I also learned a lot about BMI and obesity in general. Now, I knew (know) I am fat, so it's not like my head was in the sand, but I learned I was classified as Super Obese (BMI >50). What the H-E-double hockey sticks?? When I read that a few months ago, I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. There is no classification beyond that. While reading and learning on here today, like I do every single day, I happened to glance at my info. I'm no longer classified as Super Obese!!!!!!! Yay!! I know I have a loooong way to go, but there's something about losing the designation of "super obese" that makes me feel...dare I say...hopeful. Wishing all of you hope and everything wonderful. XO
