AnA92212 got a reaction from watsongirl17 in Starting Weight
My starting weight was 294, weighed in at 255 on surgery day. I got down to 116, doctor wanted me to gain some weight before we started trying for baby number 2. I gained about 9 pounds of muscle so I weighed in at 125 the day I found out I was pregnant. Gained 30 pounds while pregnant. Lost 15 pounds in the first week and now 10 weeks out from my C-section and trying to lose the other 15. It's a journey and every pound is a battle. Some will come off quickly and you will stall MANY times along the way. Good luck!

I wanted to be invisible when I was almost 300 pounds. I had surgery 6 weeks after my baby was born. I lost about 180 pounds. I felt better about myself, but still could only see the flaws. This former couch potato was running half marathons, lifting weights, and always on the go. I gave birth to my baby 10 weeks ago and I gained 30 pounds during my pregnancy. I lost 15 within the first week, but I am struggling to get the other 15 off. Everyone tells me how great I look, but all I see is fat. I really am struggling. It's to the point I cry about it almost every day. I am FINALLY back in the gym 3 nights a week, running 3 to 5 days a week, and other cardio/yoga/weight workouts. I hope the rest of the weight comes off soon! I struggle with not looking the same and not fitting into all of my clothes. I've always had bad body image so that is not new. It is just different now.

I don't believe that Mirena will affect your surgery or weight loss journey. Every type of birth control affects people differently. I hope it helps your cycles.

I am 39 years old and wear a size 2 or 4 now (pre surgery was 26/28 and 3XL). It is actually difficult for me to find clothes that fit. I have had great luck with ThredUP.com and Swap.com. I like the clothes from Ann Taylor, banana Republic, and J Crew. They just fit really well.

I love, love, love ZUMBA. I am one of the most uncoordinated people in the world, but we just have so much fun it's not like exercise at all. I also do a class called Body Pump. It is like synchronized weight lifting. It's not really fun, but LOVE the results. I started walking after surgery. A 70+ year old lady in my body pump class did a marathon. I decided to try to run a half marathon. At first, it REALLY sucked. I mean SUCKED. BUT, I had told everyone in the world that I was running a half marathon. So, I did it. I actually ran one before the original one. I have now ran 4. I am planning on a triathlon next year and then a full marathon in January of 2019. I had to stop running for a bit because I am pregnant with baby # 2. Once he/she is here will start training again. Sometimes you just have to keep at something for awhile. I want to try a BARRE class. I do some yoga as well. If you can find a workout buddy that helps too.

AnA92212 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Help I'm gaining! How did you change your relationship with food?
I think the good thing is that you know you have gained and that you realize you still have an unhealthy relationship with food. I don't know what this means for you. For me, I used to eat when I was happy, sad, excited, anxious, you name it. Food was my emotional crutch. I am now over 2 years out from surgery, been under goal weight for over a year. I am now pregnant which I do have a small concern of gaining weight, but I am working with my NUT to help with diet.
Your question is how to heal the mental part. Well, I will tell you that it is easier to control the physical part, at least at first. Go back to basics...log EVERYTHING, Portion Control everything, make sure to get Protein and Water, etc. You know the drill. Also, find something you really like to do. After I got to goal weight I started running. I have run 4 half marathons in the past 6 months. Have to stop right now due to growing a baby, but I still walk everyday, go to zumba class, and do weight training.
As for the head part. Find a good friend, therapist...someone you can really talk to. I have found that food no longer holds the temptation it once did. I still get excited for food, but when I am full, I am just done. I spend my time enjoying life not having life pass me by. I found a love of sewing, crafting, soap making, and spending time with family.

Love these nsv! Prior to becoming pregnant, I was in a size 2 jeans. Before surgery: a size 28! Being able to wear a belt was amazing as well. Being able to tuck in a shirt is amazing. Also, being able to go to the doctor with no shame. Stepping on the scales confidently.

Head hunger is real. I don't notice I am hungry when I am busy. But when work is slow or even when we have a slow weekend it can get bad. I usually just go drink some Water. Either that or I get up and start doing something. I am over 2 and a half years out and it is still there.

Two and a half years out: I drink one cup of coffee a day. Many sleevers do a low carb diet, but I don't. My nutritionist actually doesn't want me to do that due to my workout routine. I really think that is about all that I break. I don't do any type of diet. If I want it, I eat it. I do eat every 2 to 3 hours which some say sleevers aren't supposed to, but my nutritionist recommends that for me. I don't wait 30 minutes after a meal to drink Water. I won't drink a lot right after I eat, but I do have a drink of water sometimes.

Prior to becoming pregnant, I was running 35+ miles a week, weight lighting 2 times a week, and other exercise as well. On weekends we ran half marathons or other races. After baby is born I will be training for my first marathon and triathlon. There are typically no restrictions once you are able to work out.

I am female so that is different, but I didn't have 1000 calories until I was almost a year out. My husband didn't have 1000 until probably around 8 months or so. Even when he was training for a half marathon he was only eating about 1800 to 2000 a day. (This was at 2 years out from surgery). He's been at goal weight for over a year and a half and eats about 1800 a day sometimes more sometimes less. Currently I am 7 months pregnant so I can't work out nearly as much or at the same level I was prior. Prior to pregnancy I was running 3 to 10 miles 5 days a week, zumba for one hour a week, yoga for 1 hour a week, and weight training for 2 hours a week and eating 1600 calories a day. Now, I do cardio walking 6 days a week and eat about 1300 to 1500 a day.

I had to have one about a year after surgery. I've been slightly anemic most of my adult life so that wasn't new. The supplements hadn't helped for a year so my surgeon sent me to a hematologist. Had the infusion and then got put on another supplement. I haven't had to have another infusion since. I go to my hematologist every 6 months though.

well, part of the reason I wanted to have the surgery is so I could have another baby. It took us almost 2 years to get pregnant with the first. I had surgery 6 weeks after our first was born. Was at goal weight in 9 months, and below goal weight at 1 year. Spent another year getting even more fit and running half marathons. Then stopped birth control and 2 and a half months later we were pregnant!

Yes. she is Victoria Grace. Our bodies are amazing. Last time I had numerous trips to the ER, couldn't walk around a store after 25 weeks, and just felt awful. This time, I still work full time, chase my 2 year old around, just finished all my assignment for grad school, and feel really good most days. Such a difference.

Well, during pregnancy you gain about 25 pounds in fluids so it is easy to do! I was actually still wearing size 2 jeans until 20 weeks along. Even at 30 weeks + I can wear a size 4. My baby bump is all baby this time so much different from my first pregnancy when I was almost 300 pounds. I still work out 6 days a week, but haven't been able to run during the pregnancy due to some issues early on, but other than that things have been smooth sailing.

I have gained 20 pounds so far (about 8 weeks from delivery) baby girl is perfect and so am I. Baby is about 3 pounds right now. So, I would say yes it is sufficient. My doctor does think my constant tracking of food and exercise is funny, but says I am a model patient. I tell him, "hey, doc, I am 40 years old and I have a half marathon to run 14 weeks after delivery. You won't let me run for 8 weeks after. I can't have extra weight weighing me down when I cross that finish line!"

I am so worried about this. I am currently almost 26 weeks pregnant and up almost 15 pounds. I don't think you should beat yourself up over it. Sometimes, worrying about it makes it so we can't lose the weight. I have been stressing about my weight gain so much because I have gained so much just in the past 6 weeks. So, you know the basics and it sounds like you have tried it. Are you drinking enough Water? What is your exercise program? Do you do cardio and weights? That was the magic combo for me. Before pregnancy, I was doing zumba once a week, running 5 days a week (anywhere from 3 to 12 miles), yoga once a week, and weight training 2 to 3 times a week. I lost 180 pounds my first year after surgery. The 2nd year, I lost NOTHING, I actually gained 10 pounds of muscle, but I went down 3 dress sizes. Make sure you are getting enough carbs to handle what your body is doing. When I first started training for a half marathon, I was not eating enough food so my body was holding on to everything. I had to up my calories and carbs. I actually did a metabolic test to see how many calories my body needs. My body burns 1350 calories just breathing and basic functioning. Before I had the test done, I was only eating about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I upped it to 1600 to 1800 (over 2000 on long race days) and boom! weight adjusted.

Congratulations! I love 5Ks. The atmosphere is always fun and they are usually for a good cause. I started with the couch to 5K app and then progressed. I ran 4 half marathons in 4 months (before I got pregnant). I never thought I would like running, but I love it.
