    Sagging Skin

I am lucky but I work out hard too. Everyone is different. I wore a binder after surgery for a month. It helped with pain and I think it helps with skin. Doctor said it doesn't but I did it anyway. Sent from my QTAIR7 using the BariatricPal App

    Fertility

I did. PCOS SUCKS! I got pregnant naturally before surgery. Had surgery 6 weeks after delivering baby. I got approval to start TTC at 12 months out. I was training for my first half marathon and now my 2nd so we will start in January. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  12. I never had the honeymoon phase. I've been busting my button in the gym since week 3! I am 17 months out and struggle also. I am somewhere between 121 and 127. It depends on what week of the month it is. I don't change my diet or my exercise but I can gain 4 pounds overnight. I like to stay around 125 or less. I eat 1200 to 1400calories a day. I run 25 miles a week, walk 6, Zumba an hour a week, and weight training 2 hours a week. Beyond that I am extremely active. I have an 18 month old, work full time, and am a grad student. I KNOW I can eat more than I should

I am 17 months out and can eat more now but still small portions. Don't do it often but occasionally get a chicken biscuit from somewhere. I throw out the biscuit and eat about half the meat. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol after WLS

They tell us not to drink for several reasons. One is because alcohol contains calories and we shouldn't drink our calories. Two, we are lightweights. Three, most of us were overeaters. If you haven't found a way to deal with why you ate your feelings then you are trading one addiction for another. I am almost 18 months out and still no alcohol. 17. Starting weight was 294, 255 on day of surgery, and 121 now. I am 39. I started working out 3 weeks after surgery. My doctor tells me that I have very minimal excess skin. It really just depends on where you store the weight, genetics, age, etc. Working out (weights and cardio). My workout routine now is: run 25 miles a week, walk 5 miles per week (this is exercise walk not just walking), zumba once a week for an hour, and 2 hours of weight training a week.

  19. I started at 294 and I am now 121. I am 39 years old. I started working out 3 weeks after surgery. My loose skin is extremely minimal. There is really no way to determine how much saggy skin you will have. My recommendation is to start working after as soon as you can after surgery with a combination of weight training and cardio.
  20. I want to have another baby as well. I am 17 months out from surgery and down 173 pounds. I got the OK from my surgeon to start trying at my 12 month check up. I had committed to running two half marathons before the end of the year. Happily, one of those is finished! We are going to go to my reproductive endocrinologist in December. That will be my last month on the pill and then get all the tests in January and then officially start tying in February. Good luck.
  21. I had surgery on April 27th of 2015. I reached the top end of my goal weight in January of this year. I am now 21 pounds below that. I've been eating about 900 to 1300 calories a day since January. My surgeon says I should never take in fewer than 800 calories and up to 1600 calories on heavy work out days. I haven't seen my NUT in a long time because everything has been going well. (I know, poor excuse). Just curious, what is typical for people that have reached goal weight? Some days I have trouble getting in 1000 calories and other days I could eat more. Just want some info. I do have an appointment with my NUT regarding nutrition for race/training days. I am almost 39 years old Female current weight is 124 I am in training for a half marathon Current exercise regimen: run 4-10 miles, 5 days a week Zumba, 1 hour per week Body pump (weight lifting) 2 hours per week Walk 3-5 miles, 1 day per week I also have a 16 month old, work full time, and am in graduate school. I run around after her a couple hours a day, I work as an executive admin so I could sit all day or be running around all day.

Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

I used to miss soda, but don't any more. The thought of it actually makes me sick now. I don't miss sweets or chips. I do eat them occasionally, but prefer fruit now. I don't ever deprive myself.
  23. A few awkward moments: My OB/GYN didn't recognize me until he started reading my chart. He thought I was a new patient. That awkward moment when you are eating out with people who didn't know you had surgery...they just go on and on about how little you eat. Or when you are out to eat, you and your husband share a meal (he had surgery too) and you eat so little the manager comes out to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with your food. We then spend 5 minutes explaining that we had surgery and cannot eat. Then spend another 10 minutes answering questions about our surgeon, the process, etc. Now what I mostly get is "are you done losing weight? You are so skinny." or "Are you sure you didn't have plastic surgery, I don't see any skin?"
  24. Thanks for the article. I was actually pregnant when I decided to have WLS. It took us a year to conceive and went through multiple medications. Ended up conceiving naturally, but knew losing weight would help us for #2. I was approved to start trying at my 12 month check up. Waiting a little longer because I have committed to 2 half marathons later this year so we will start trying in January. I just saw my OB/GYN and he told me that I am in fantastic physical shape. I will be 39 when we start trying and told me that there are some risks, but said that my risks now are no where near what they had been when I got pregnant in 2014.
