It is crazy what we are carrying around. There is a site called ilostwhat.com and if you key in what you lost in pounds it gives you a real life item of equivalent weight. It can be quite funny!

I had to move a bag of grain. Normally I would put on a handcart or wheelbarrow but was in a hurry so I carried it up a small hill to the feeding area. I put it up on my shoulder.
Omg...within a minute my calves and legs were burning with that added weight on the climb. Then my back started in...then my knee joints...then I realized I felt like this ALL THE TIME pre weight loss.
Absolutely incredible since I lost 160# post sleeve and now carrying 40 just about does me in. Makes me grateful for my success makes me remorseful for how badly my body was punished for decades by that weight.

You could be thirsty. Also you do not want to start a habit of eating a late snack like that. I think you did the right thing. It's a personal learning adventure, right? ????

My butt it's aching something awful today! But I'll take it in stride because yesterday I rode my bike for the first time in about 2 years, and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I remember it was last time I rode it. We did about 4 miles too.
Best of all, I was able to keep a promise to my son that we'd ride together once I was healed from surgery.

I haven't started so take me with a grain of salt
The surgeon I talked to said there was liquid drinks for pre op but didn't say anything about real food. I can see one small meal of Protein and veggies but 6-8 cups sounds like a lot?

Oh wow tortilla Soup I love that! I'll grab some tomorrow, I had French onion last night and it was great.
Earlier today I had poblano and queso soup and that was also awesome. So many things you can have if you just strain the lumpy stuff!
This kind of thing motivates me no end and on top of that I've lost 15lbs in my 1st 5 days, 28lbs in total including pre op, this is going to be a breeze

I can totally relate to what everyone is saying about suddenly having lots more emotions when you give up food as a crutch. Sometimes when it's really intense, I think I want to "take up" smoking again! Of course I don't, but the fact that I would think of consciously picking up a different addiction should give you an idea of what I (and lots of people) dealt with when it comes to food. This is why it's been so important for me to find ways of coping, whether it's walking my dog with my headphones on, writing, coloring, etc. It's hard to even commit to those coping skills, but you just have to give it your best.
I'm still struggling with "avoiding" food. I used to do the same thing pre-op because everything about food and weight upset me after I got very heavy. I've found that now that my hunger isn't overtaking me, I "forget" (hmm..) to eat and then suddenly I'm really hungry and I want to eat more than the allowed portions. Seems like a small portion version of old behavior. I generally stop myself before I'm overfull, but there's been a couple of slip ups and I've paid for it! Bottom line - I need to make an eating schedule and stick to it.
I see a therapist too, but haven't seen her in a couple of weeks b/c of surgery and driving restrictions. Can't wait to get back in the chair!

Back in my previous life, I was on one of my many diets. I put dinner on the table along with some green Beans, and my mean ol' rotten ex husband yelled at me, "You ruin every meal with those damn vegetables!" Geeze, no wonder I left. (Well, that and mistaking me for a punching bag)
Hopefully you and your hubbyman can work this out, but you are going to have to be big girl and speak up for what you want. Bariatric surgery exposes the raw dynamics of a relationship. Is controlling, or just concerned about your success and is genuinely trying to help in his own clumsy way?

I've already had my surgery on 5/27 but I'm sure there are many with upcoming dates close to yours. I was a little afraid at first too and didn't have anyone to go through the process with. You'll find great support on this site, lots of great info and advice. My RNY procedure went great im newly post op but I'm feeling good. Good luck to you!

I took full advantage of many tasty broths during my liquid stage. Cream of asparagus, hot and sour, wonton, tortilla Soup, portobello mushroom, Thai curry, broccoli cheese, french onion, lobster bisque, etc. I just diluted with Water or milk, strained and even added unflavored Protein Powder. Once I got to soft foods, I stopped straining.

This makes the liquids so much easier, currently I'm eating a bowl of hot spicy Madras and it tastes wonderful!
All I did was strain and ad just over half a cup of fat free milk
Also had korma, and rogan josh
This will make this full liquids a breeze!

You need to do your thing for you and let him do his thing for himself. You can disagree with someone and still love them, but it will be challenging. You have to decide how challenging it is for you. I wouldn't recommend hanging around if it causes you to spend less time together. On the flipside, if you agree to disagree and figure out how to live around it without putting a wedge between you two then more power to ya! (I personally think you should hold out for a relationship that treats you like a superstar ????)
    Best of luck!!

It's less important to my day now but I'm aware of it more. I know that sounds weird but what I mean is, I'm way more conscious of my choices. However, if I can't eat what I planned, or have to choose something boring because my favorite isn't available, it's okay. food choices used to consume my day. It was my reward for everything, and it had to be perfect. Now it really is fuel, more often than not. But I enjoy it more! Go figure.

Hi, Dr Kim did my inverted sleeve 3 years ago. He's done over 7500 surgeries and I highly recommend him and his office staff is very helpful and nice. I am down 90 lbs and am living life again thanks to him! I think its really cool that you are thinking of after surgery support. Well I tell ya, Kim Bariatric has the most amazing after surgery support I have heard of!! They offer monthly fitness events with Nate Newton, they are just starting monthly bike rides, Dr Kim throws his patients a really nice Christmas party every year, the private patient only Facebook support group has helped me a ton!!! We do monthly 5k/10ks, monthly Breakfast and dinner get togethers, we do fun event get togethers like painting, dancing, bowling, and we are working on doing more fun event get togethers. The FB group is like a little weight loss surgery family. I have met sooo many friends through that group. Its been so helpful for my journey to be successful! I wish the best for you on whomever you chose.

June 18 will be a year that I had my surgery. I have lost around 60 pounds and have 25 more to go to reach my goal. I will be honest and admit that I have been very frustrated many times with my slow weight loss. I figured I would have been at goal by now especially with me working out like a mad woman. But I have realized something…so what it takes me a little longer to get to my goal than it does others. What's the hurry? This is a lifetime thing. I am happy and I feel great, like a completely new person so I will keep trucking along and doing what I'm doing. I will get there.
