  1. It looks like a ton of forums were merged or moved. It makes it kind of difficult to see what is going on.

I agree that it's all harder to find specific threads within the 'gastric sleeve forum' and I do not like the changes at all. I come on here less and less because I have to wade through all the subheadings to find the ones pertaining to 'sleevers' as I can't relate to the other surgeries. I realize running a forum might be an IT nightmare but I still liked the other structure better.

    3. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

The sleeve forum had the most posts so they merged the other forums into it which I can understand from a marketing standpoint, it makes everything seem more active. but like you said @Sosewsue61 it makes it basically impossible to follow conversations and wade through content. Surgeries and post op needs of those surgeries are pretty different.

      Hey!

I made a quick video explaining WHY we made the changes. I also explained how you can view the content you're most interested in. I hope you enjoy :D

  2. I finally got my last weight loss reward. I have a fur for the winter to combat being cold all the time. I can't begin to express how much joy my new car and wardrobe bring me. I would have never comfortably fit into a sports car before losing weight, and it is nice to be able to wear a fur without being the size of an actual bear.

gotta love those NSV's - able to fit into a cool car - wearing fur, what more could you ask for??!! congrats kathy

  3. I went shopping again this weekend, building the Fall wardrobe. I was feeling kind of crappy because I had to get size 31 skinny jeans from J.Crew because of my hips and thighs. Then I thought about it. I used to have a 66 inch waist, my hips were 70 inches. That fact that I had to get size 31 jeans instead of 30 shouldn't be a real issue at this point. This is the point where weight loss just gets nitpicky. On the bright size. I wear a size 8 at Brooks Brothers! Also I got some size 10 over the knee boots from a brand that runs small and they fit perfect.

      I get the same way...lol

  4. I purchased a blouse last week at Nordstrom without trying it on, just looked at it on the rack and purchased. I went back to get it in another color yesterday because when I wore it yesterday I loved it. I automatically picked the large because I assumed that was the size I had on. I asked the sales person to double check the tag of the top I was wearing, It was a medium! I usually buy medium tops now but sometimes I forget and grab larges. The sales person said "You have to remember you are little now!" That made me feel so good. When she said that, she had no idea how large I was when I started. When people that didn't know me when I was huge comment that I am small, it really helps it sink in with me that I am actually a small person now.

  5. This morning I went walking on a trail near my house. 2 years ago walking that trail used to wear me out. Now it is effortless.

  6. This weekend I purchased my first high fashion designer dress, that was not on clearance. Since I am kinda weight stable I decided to treat myself. I love clothing and I have always wanted to own a high end designer dress but I obviously I could never fit them before. It feels so good to go into a luxury store and have the sales people cater to your every whim. I am enjoying playing dress up with my new body so much!

Awesome! It's crazy how the salespeople ignore heavyset ladies, but cater to the slender crowd! (Hello!, Even if I couldn't fit the clothes, doesn't mean I'm not shopping for someone else!)

    3. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

Sales people have always fallen all over themselves to help me. I LOOK like I am going to spend money, they know a shopper (it is all in yhe accessories). Before I just couldn't fit luxury clothes even though i bought shoes and bags. Now I can be well dressed head to toe.

    4. Berry78

      Berry78

Gotcha. I usually dress as a bum when I'm shopping, and I don't do accessories at all.. not even a wedding band! But, I do get more attention now that I'm more moderately sized...

  7. Did Dr Oz do a segment on Endoscopic Sleeves or something? What is with all the questions suddenly.

      Apple1

I noticed that. I had never heard of that procedure.

  8. Watching 600 lb Life, Where are they now? And Dr Now just advised to revise to RNY because her WLS stopped, and he said that she stretched her stomach out. So I can see where the misinformation comes from. When the RNY people stop losing at this point, he tells them to stop eating trash. Then after he is done slicing and dicing her for the 2nd time, he says, if her weight loss slows again, we will know it is her diet. Well, no $%#@

    2. Introversion

      Introversion

Yes, Dr. Nowrazadan operates on these people free of charge. He benefits from the fame and free publicity that the show bestows upon him. Also, the TLC channel profits heavily with all of the viewership and advertisements. So these people display themselves in humiliating positions in exchange for the show's producers financing their year in the sun.

    3. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

Dr Now got divorced before 600lb life. He had to pay his wife out, he was semi-retired until he had to pay his wife of 27 years. So he got on this TLC gravy train. I really wonder if TLC pays his malpractice insurance because the rates have to be through the roof.

600 pound life is a huge cash cow for TLC.

I wanted to note that Dr Now has them on 1200 calorie diets post-op. Not that 800 that people seem to think is optimal weight loss.

I hate 600 pound life, but watching that and the 2nd season of skin tight gave me a new perspective on my weight loss and my loose skin. I am better off than a lot of people and I should be grateful for my progress.

    4. Apple1

      Apple1

My level of daily activity has me increasing my calories each week. I am sure I will hit 800 by 4 weeks post-op. If my calories are mainly from protein and healthy fats isn't it a good idea to increase them? I want a healthy metabolism. I don't want to get stuck at consuming such a low number to be able to loss weight.

  9. Had to stop watching the 2nd Season of Skin Tight. I feel bad about my loose skin, but nothing like these dramatic mofos. Geez. I hope they are just faking it for the cameras, No one should dislike themselves that much. Goodness. This show is so  depressing and they always are built like a box of bandaids afterward, not a curve in sight.

yes who gives diet pills to a bypass patient?? that's unheard of to me

    3. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

The girl with the awesome hair, her surgery results are lackluster. I wish they would get some better quality doctors on this show. And as Gucci would say "Well Damn", Dr Now did a better tummy tuck than the actual plastic surgeon.:lol: The girl with the nice hair had a better body to start than the other girl, but she needed a fleur de lis tummy tuck and didn't get one. Dr Now did a fleur de lis on this girl and her stomach is actually flat.

A lot more Doctors than you think give diet pills to WLS patients. It is more common than you think, especially for people far from surgery. Reckless but common.

  10. This was a bad day to run out of Halo Top. My AC broke, I think it has been broke probably since last night. It is 81 in here and I finally just noticed. I'm not even sweating. If I was still over 350 pounds I would be miserable right now.

My temp tolerance has definitely changed since surgery. I am cold much more often now and it is weird. I used to freeze my dh out with the ac set at 67 and now I am cold at 70.

    4. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

I was cold for like the for the first year then my body regulated itself. I'm cold when everyone else is cold, it does take me longer than most people to get hot though.

  11. Today I did an experiment and ate my veggies, well it was mushrooms which aren't really veggies with my meat. The result was the same as when I eat salads out. Protein didn't sit in my stomach as long, and I wasn't full/satisfied as long. Going to stick with eating my veggies separate

      TheRealMeIsHere!

I realized the same thing! Lunch used to be a nice salad with lean protein. I was hungry shortly after. If I eat protein only, I'm satisfied for hours. Then non-starchy veggies for snacks.

    3. saraanne1981

      saraanne1981

How much protein specifically chicken can y'all eat at 1 time? I never though of eating this way!!!

    4. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

I don't eat chicken really. I don't buy it for home. I will have chikfila nuggets when I am out and sometimes I will get wing stop. Chicken is too dry for me. I don't have a good number of ounces maybe 3? I dunno I see chicken as mainly a waste of time. If I like thighs my opinion might be different.

I don't really like cauliflower based recipes. I made them all experimenting last year. I would rather use Bob's Red Mill Low Carb bake mix or something else than cauliflower. It is a lot of work for very little pay off.

    3. Sosewsue61

      Sosewsue61

LOL - I tried that cauliflower pizza crust...oh geez seriously awful!!!

    4. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

It isn't bad, but it is a pain in the ass. Fat head pizza crust tastes way better and is a lot easier. There are a lot of recipes that just aren't worth the time for me to make as a single person. That is why I mostly just eat a piece of meat and veggies.

  13. I just watched a video on YouTube of a WLS patient that is 4 years out, had multiple revisions and is kind of a failure at WLS. It reminded me why I don't take diet or health advice from fat people.

You've got a point there. I used to see a NP and she is overweight and she kept telling me how I need to lose the weight. Just didn't make sense.

  14. Today I saw a lot of people I haven't seen since before I lost weight. Guess what not one person asked me how I lost weight. They all just said I looked beautiful and a few commented they didn't recognize me at first. Which reinforces my idea that all the people around here that think people ask a ton of questions about your weight loss are either surrounded by fat people or people with zero home training, because polite well educated people don't ask rude personal questions. People that genuinely love and care about you are just happy for you.

    Happy Easter and Passover.

I look for your responses. Sorry to hear that it's been frustrating. I was more than frustrated reading the back and forth convo regarding the keto diet. I'm at a loss for why people are so set on having to be "right" or proving others "wrong". Hope you change your mind.

  16. Tried on 20 dresses yesterday to find a dress for Easter. Women's sizing is crazy but wearing 8s and 10s is a lot of fun. What I do find annoying is it seems like there are more 14 and 16s than 8s or 10s. Grr. Grass always greener

Interesting. I have a lot of boobs 36G and I am kinda of hippy. I can go smaller with separates, I always thought that was because I am not fitting larger breasts and hips, I had no idea dress sizes were different from pant sizes. Still my sizing is weird because I have a lot of loose skin on my torso, so it really depends on how all of that fits into something. I wear a 10 in Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. I can wear 8 if it is sleeveless.

welcome to world of working in an office environment. nothing is sacred. a few months post op - had a little container with a strawberry (that's right one) in it in the fridge for my afternoon snack with a piece of cheese. it was there at lunch, but at 3:30 snacktime it was gone. I was still having major emotional moodswings so I did cry. a week later, the tin of caffeine free tea that I kept ON MY DESK was stolen while i was in a meeting. I went to security on that since it meant someone went through the things on my desk and blatantly stole it. Security shrugged saying what do you want us to do? Still being an emotional basketcase, I went off. it wasn't pretty. now I keep my tea and an insulated lunch bag locked in my desk drawer. it's ridiculous when you think you work with responsible professional adults...

Hopefully it will get easier to resist. I don't work outside my home but when I visit my relatives (FIL) he is constantly pushing cake, pie, cookies, ice cream at me. No matter home many times hubby and I tell him that I don't like that stuff, he pushes anyway. In his defense, he is 87 and a big sweetheart so I try not to let it get to me. Sometimes, when there is pie.....I really struggle because it is my favorite. The other junk makes me sick.

I gave in the first week and got a couple things out the vending machines. I didn't even like them, only had a couple bites. I gave in because I knew I wouldn't want them once I had them and trying them was better than obsessing about them. It is a real learning experience. I am also finding that I drink about 2x as much coffee at work than at home, just to stay warm in the office and to stop being bored. I started just drinking hot water instead to cut back on my coffee and hot water works just as well.

    4. Djmohr

      Djmohr

You know, it is funny you mention coffee. I think it is because of the cold weather here but recently I started stopping at Starbucks for my skinny vanilla latte. I had not had one in two years and suddenly I am stopping a couple times a week now. In fact, just came from taking FIL cat to vet and I am sipping one right now. It is a lovely balmy 1 degree outside today. BBRRRRRRR.

  20. I am wearing a body on dress with just control top tights and a bra today. Not being stuffed into shapewear and still looking sleek is huge deal for me!

@ShelterDog64 I usually do also but today I put my dress on then the tights. I was going to put shapewear on over it, but I realized I looked okay. I was really surprised. I need new shapewear anyway. It is all 2 sizes 2 big right now.

  21. So according to my scale I am up 7 pounds today. Except that is scientifically impossible. I have had the calories for that kind of gain. I haven't been over my calories, my activity is the same or higher. Oh right, that time of the month. This is why tracking all your food a day weighing yourself all the time is important. You can prevent freak outs by keeping a log.

    1. Show previous comments  2 more
    2. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Well, my very mean scale told me the same thing. I am up 7lbs. Now I know that I did indulge a little over thanksgiving and christmas but certainly not enough to gain 7lbs. Also, I am going through menopause and I swear if i look at food, I gain weight. LOL. I am not too worried because I know if I just go back to my plan, get on my elliptical I can lose that weight over the next two weeks. I am guessing some of it is from too much salt.

    3. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

Yeah there is no way I gained 8lbs in 3 days. Drinking coffee and eating crab and lobster. It is so ridiculous. If I didn't track all my food and weigh myself everyou day or every other day I would be in a panic. It is really important to track so you have other support than just the scale.

    4. highfunctioningfatman

      highfunctioningfatman

Fortunately I'm externally plumbed so I don't have have the same issues as those with internal plumbing but water retention happens to all of us. I too am up a little bit and I have been since I changed up my eating and exercise habits to get more protein. Even my measurements are up slightly in the areas that I'm most sore. Water weight sucks but at least it is just water.

Well my issue isn't maintenance, I am still losing. Food isn't really a concern of mine, I am comfortable with how I eat and I can easily eat like this forever.

It is adjusting to my new body and how people treat me. I have been really struggling lately and the more I lose the worse it gets.

    3. Babbs

      Babbs

      Well, that too!

Believe it or not, you'll get used to it and so will they. Having been in maintenance now for over a year, sometimes I miss the days of people commenting on my weight loss. I don't get it much anymore because people are just used to it now.

  24. The world is full of hating basic broads. I wear 3.5 to 4 inch heels every day, every where. They are like sneakers to me, my feet never hurt. So I wore some to Walmart today and the bell ringer said "those aren't shopping shoes" and I replied "they are for me". I am so sick of how women talk to me and treat me since I lost weight.
