I agree with Avafern, one moment is not a reason to throw the babies out with the bath Water. Thank God for the limited space our stomachs can hold because had it not you probably would have ate 1200 or more calories with that thing. 2 to 3 bites not a big deal. You will remember that and make better choices with the next meals.

Look up youtube videos and practice the line dancing type dances, you will be surprised how winded you will be but you are burning calories. They have Zumba and lots of different dance types. While you are in the privacy of your space try it.

Your Nut allows you bread? Bread and sugar are the number one reasons I am over weight. Potato's and rice are the number 2 reason. Lack of exercise is the third reason. I refuse to so much as look at a carb. All I eat is chicken, fish, shrimp and on occasion pork. I ate a beef hamburger (meat only) and looked at the calories and I won't touch another one. I can however eat a lean turkey burger. I miss bread but not enough to gain back what I lost so far and not enough to stall me.
Try a few days without your carbs and see if that scale won't budge.

Hi All, I had VSG June 11th, just wanted to know how you guys are doing frustration, successes, etc..
I had my first doctors visit on July 9th doc was pleased that I had lost 9lbs from surgery said I was on track said I should exercise and take it easy and add more foods to my diet. I am down 30lbs now from starting weight. Doc said I should be losing about 15 -25 lb a month.
Still can't eat salad gives me the bubble guts. I am able to eat broccoli which pre surgery gave me gas.
I eat a lot of chicken, baked, roasted, and chicken salads.
Just started with a new gym and really just getting started. I am looking forward to my transformation.

I tell them I had weight loss surgery. I'm a year in and so far haven't encountered a single negative reaction, so maybe I'm lucky. If I did encounter a negative reaction, I don't expect to change anything because of it. I did what I did for me; I don't really care what anyone else thinks.

I had a Chicago beef polish, a bag of chili cheese fritos and half a bottle of some fruity alcholic beverage and a chocolate chip cookie. True junk food it was all I could get my hands on and it was the final hour. I wanted some medium hot wings with maybe a cheesecake.

Look, I get it. I drank A LOT in college, got married, settled down, got fatter and miserable in said marriage, got divorced, had WLS and got healthy and in my late 40's re-established my social life, (lots of dates=lots of bars\concerts\restaurants). I am having my second "young adulthood" now for sure! So... I waited maybe 8 months before I really started drinking regularly again. I did this to maximize my weight loss and because I was literally, "a light weight" now.
In maintenance now for about a year, I can tell you that alcohol is the thing that puts weight on me faster than ANYTHING. Not just the calories in the alcohol, but the munchies and reduction in impulse control for the next 24 hours is a KILLER for me. I would be the last person to tell you you must go alcohol free to be successful. I opt for partying no more than 2 days per week now to control my weight, (but I may be drunk one of those 2 days, ;-o). I've also been known to go out and drink Water (yeah, that stuff in the toilet as the BF calls it), if I've gained a bit. I LIKE my size 4 Rock Revival skinny jeans more than booze. You have to decide what it is you want more, is it to be healthy and fit? Or drunk and fat? Life's all about choices!

At the risk of sounding like a fuddy-duddy (boy does autocorrect love that one), it breaks my heart to hear that after three years of college (where you haven't even reached legal drinking age) the one thing you think defines your experience is drinking, and drinking to excess at that.
Believe it or not, you can have fun stone-cold sober. You can dance, you can socialize. You also can learn a lot, get better grades, and most importantly exercise better judgement -- about risks, relationships, etc.
Even if you never take another drink the rest of your life you can live a full and exciting life.
If the thought of taking a break from drinking in order to improve or even save your life is so terrible, I really think you would benefit from some soul-searching.

OK, I'll bite. I'm really concerned by your use of "NOT" and "refuse" in reference to a practice that at best can be expensive and at worst after surgery can lead to severe dehydration, chemical imbalances in an already compromised body and consumption of absolutely useless calories that would be better spent on Protein. Are you seriously saying that partying in the way you did your first three years of school is more important than the REST.OF.YOUR.LIFE?
I know it will be easy for you to dismiss my comments as those of someone out of touch because our ages are very different....but I can tell you we ALL have to make changes in our lifestyles for surgery to truly be the tool that helps us get healthy. Drinking Water flavored with all the cool fruit they have in a bar seems like a relatively small price to pay compared to what you can gain by getting healthy.
Sorry if I've offended you....but the point of the forum is to share the truth, even when it is not what we want to hear. Good luck!

I drink 2 cups of coffee a day. Sometimes I will also treat myself to an iced sugar free almond milk caramel drink thing from our local coffee place. Yum.
I'm not much of a drinker, but I will drink on a special occasion. As a rule, I don't like to drink becuase of the empty calories.
Anyhoo, good or bad, I loves me some caffine!

I am a newbie who got her sleeve on June 8th. I also questioned the reasoning behind coffee. I drink it black with no sugar or cream. What my Dr. said was that it creates more acidity in the new stomach, especially at first. He said that acid reflux is a condition we will all have to deal with and I started Prilosec 2 days after surgery. My Dr allows Decaf coffee at 3 weeks and I may or may not go to reg coffee later. So happy with my sleeve and I am very protective of my new "baby stomach". My Dr allows wine at 6 weeks but do I really want the calories? hmmmm The other part is that a former employee with a sleeve stopped in to see me yesterday. She was telling me how she got a DUI because wine/alcohol goes into the bloodstream faster and stays longer. I know I pretty much have a new set of priorities right now. Wine may or may not come back into my life, and it definately will not be as often!

I remember feeling resentful at first, which I knew was crazy, and I tried to hide, lol. It's been getting better, as I learn different tactics to help myself cope. I met friends at a restaurant, and yes, while their food looked and smelled delicious, I managed by ordering a strawberry margarita (sans alcohol) and ate it with a spoon. I have had great luck with anything frozen. I buy TONS of popsicles! (lol) I even found some that taste like rootbeer and dr. pepper, so that when I'm feeling really pouty about all the restrictions, I can feel like I'm indulging. I think that's the thing, we are not a population (as surgery recipients) that like limiting ourselves, so it's super hard to wrap your head around. But we needed help making better decisions, and we want to feel (and look) better and this is what it took. It's hard, but worth it.
