  1. I felt like a real failure after I gained back all lost weight (120#) after a stomach stapling in 1982. I refused to even think about any type of revision because I felt had my chance and failed to keep it off. But several loving friends were brave enough to tell me that they were concerned about my health because of my morbid obesity and wondered if I considered a revision. After I dealt with my very hurt feelings, I stopped feeling sorry for myself and now I'm researching a revision. I don't care what people think because the ones I care about will be my biggest cheerleaders. Please take that awful word failure out of your vocabulary.
  2. I'm from Biwabik. Still trying to figure things out. My insurance will not cover this so trying to find someone that wants my money. Believe it or not some places don't take self pay for revisions-go figure.

My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed

I agree with you Dub. I want WLS too be a tool to go along with everything I need to do to lose weight then most importantly, keeping it off. To be given a second chance to live healthy is going to be a blessing. This is not going to be easy but I'm being realistic that I will lose weight but it will come back on without a serious commitment to do this right.

My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed

There's nothing worse then former smokers who cough like crazy when they see someone smoking, former drunks that think they have found all the answers about alcohol, and former fattys that sneer at us who remain overweight or choose a way to live longer by having surgery. I feel sorry for Chuck I think he's lonely.
  5. Don't you think they know about this trick? I don't think the physicians would support fraud. Does the sleeve require the same thing about BMI. It really is absurd that insurances have such requirements. They are the ones who don't have to cover diabetes, hypertension and all the other obesity caused issues after surgery is done.
  6. Has anyone had revision surgery? What was your first and subsequent surgery? How did it go the second time around?
  7. Are most people with a bypass unable to vomit?

    Ignorant bi#@h

People are allowed to their opinion, however occasionally I wonder if this is the easy way out also. I look around at people that are able to lose weight on their own and wonder if they'll be able to keep it of. With gastric bypass I have a better chance of keeping weight off long term something I've never been able to do. I have come to realize that I don't need anyone's approval but sure would like their support as I start this journey. It took me a long time to come to this point.
  9. I haven't had WLS yet just starting the process. Does anyone that had a rny have problems with food getting stuck in a too small outlet?
  10. It's kinda weird when I'm trying to diet my goal weight is around 185# but with WLS I'm hoping for 140-145# which would be a loss of 120#.
  11. Aren't all these bariatric procedures just a tool to be used along with new food choices and exercise to have long term weight loss? I didn't think that the procedures alone we're going to be the answer.

    I'm new here ..

I also am in the research stage although I had the old fashioned stomach stapling 30 years ago. Dropped 100# fast but couldn't keep it off for various reasons big one that I love food. I told myself as I was climbing back into the 200's again that I had my bite of the apple so accept yourself as being very obese. I had a wake-up call 2 years ago when I had part of a lung removed for cancer and when I got my clean and clear 2 year check in April I decided to get healthy since 60 is the new 40 also. This time I'm studying everything I can about nutrition and bariatric surgery. I hope my lung status won't stop the process since I have such shortness of breath with only 1 1/3 lung. I'm very excited. Wish me luck!

    Am I being unrealistic?

After I lost 100 lbs. from a stomach stapling, I too looked at obese people with some contempt. All of a sudden I was queen of health and told people that I'll never be fat again. Well fast forward a couple decades and now I'm looking at bariatric surgery again. Unfortunately for me eating crow is not my cup of tea.
  14. Why do you have to eat this way before the sleeve? Do all surgeons require this.
