  1. MarciaN that would be awesome! I've been told by my case worker approval takes about 3 weeks once she submits it and then depends how surgeons schedule looks. But would love to find a buddy that will be on my timeframe!
  2. I'm on month 5 of 6 with my nutritionist. Like most plans I don't have to lose during this time but CANNOT gain (not even one monthly weigh in can be higher than recorded start weight!). So far this has been my weigh ins: down 5, same, down 1, same, and have to weigh in Monday again. Nervous I'm up since last month but not over starting so should be ok. Month 6 is the 3 hour class on August 20th and since nutrition is part of that it counts as 6th visit. Then we can finally file w insurance!!!
  3. Thanks. Found it. Didn't check my yahoo mail was looking in FB for it ????
  4. I didn't see an invite. Can you add me please? My FB email is ksku2008@yahoo.com
  5. Can I be added to the FB invite? My FB email is ksku2008@yahoo.com
  6. I had my EGD last Thursday and I was nervous because I really have never had anything done under sedation. It was piece of cake. Walked out in 2 hours feeling perfectly normal. Had lunch w my mom right after leaving surgery center. Not even a sore throat.
  7. @Notforthefaint....your family history story really hit home with me. My mom has been a yo yo dieter her whole life but I am way bigger than she ever has been. I'm 5'8" and 290 w BMI 44. My dad died of massive sudden heart attack at age of 43 just from mowing the yard! He was 320 pounds at that time! I'm 46 (tomorrow) so I've already outlived him by 3 years. I found out in February I have mild case of type 2 diabetes and borderline high cholesterol and that's a real wake up call! My son just turned 20 but he is my motivation and biggest fan. My hubby has never had a weight problem and while he does support my decision to do this, he doesn't "get" why it has to be and why I can't lose on my own. Anyway I am glad to be making some friends on this site! We all have so much in common! Getting close for me and I'm so excited!
  8. I don't have a date yet but should be either late September or October. I have my last nutritionist appt this month and then my required 3 hour class on August 20. Then all my insurance and surgeon retirements will be done! Then just wait for approval and a date! I already did 4 prior NUT visits, lab work, psych evaluation, EKG, EGD (stomach scope). I hope to connect as friends with other sleeves near my same timeframe for moral support!

How do you update profile info?

Thanks! I figured it out. I guess the mobile app has fewer options.

How do you update profile info?

How do you update our own profile info on this application? I looked in settings but not an option. I can view mine under people but it won't let me update anything.

    Beginning stages

Welcome to the forums! I began this crazy process in March after 2 wake up calls in one month. I needed a seat belt extender on a flight and was told I had type II diabetes. My dad died from heart attack when he was only 43 and I have already outlived him 3 years! I began with my own YouTube research and reading a couple books. Then I attended the free seminar offered by my Bariatric surgeons office. I felt the information presented was about same as I learned in my research. Anyway my insurance does require the 6 months nutritionist visits, psych evaluation, lab work, EKG, EGD (stomach scope), and a 3 hour class. I have it all done now except one more NUT visit this month and the class in August. Hoping for approval and surgery by Sept or October. I chose sleeve and it IS expected to resolve my diabetes and my borderline high cholesterol. If you are wanting a great easy read book that discusses all aspects of sleeve I recommend The Sleeved Life by Pennie Nicola. Good luck on your journey. Maybe we'll end up sleeving near same timeframe. ????
  12. Just had my EGD procedure (stomach scope) this morning. I have one more NUT appointment later this month and a required nutrition class in August and then all my insurance and surgeon requirements will be met to finally file insurance. In some ways it seems like a long road since first seminar in March but in reality it has gone fast. Now with 2 months left I will really be getting serious on practicing my slow eating with extra chewing and no drinking during or after meals. I am ready to get a date scheduled - probably October I'm guessing. Who else is planning sleeve near that timeframe?
