When I stand or walk I'm sucking in my stomach muscles. It helps remind me what I'm working toward. It may sound weird but little things like this help me walk away from the holiday treats.

I am having the same issue, I've been doing weight training to help tone and Im slowly seeing results, I would also talk to your doctor because some insurance companies will cover skin removal surgery. I know you probably don't want to do another surgery I don't either but just an option ! Good luck!

Thanks for sharing that story. I gave up my 3-a-day Diet Coke habit pre-surgery, tried one a few weeks and then a few months after I quit and found I didn't enjoy them anymore anyway, so the lesson I'll take away is "always have Water handy" especially when outside of my own controlled environment. Thx!

I was given the ok to try carbonated beverages last week. I'm in no hurry to try it, especially after reading your experience at 10 months out! Thank you [emoji3][emoji106]

For the decade leading up to my VSG you'd likely find a Diet Dew or Diet Coke close at hand.
I drank them in ridiculous excess.
I'd given up the real versions and thought I was doing a good thing by drinking the diet versions.
I drank them right up until my wls last October.
Since then I've not tried them. I simply haven't missed them and have had no desire to fool with them even though my surgeon told me that I could give 'em a whirl if I could tolerate them (during my 6 month post-op appointment).
So.....fast forward to yesterday. I'm at work and attending a two hour meeting where lunch is served.
It is customary for the lunches to have both sweat and unsweetened tea. I use some Splenda and unsweetened tea and I'm good to go.
The meals are always catered from local restaurants and have a variety of stuff that makes it easy for a low-carb eater to select from.
Yesterday it was Pappa John's pizza and 2 liter bottles of Pepsi and Diet Pepsi.
I'd cut it close so not time to go find other options.
I at the toppings off two slices of pizza. Done.
    Thirsty from all the salt.
Went ahead and poured a glass of Diet Pepsi.
Started drinking a few minutes later.
No issues...kept on and finished the glass.
My turn to speak and present some info to the group came.
So did the after effects of the carbonation.
Stifling burps and having the "floating away" feeling during my mini-presentation was lots and lots of fun.
As far as I'm concerned, it'll be another 10 months until I touch the sodas again.
One of the basics that was drilled into my head during my pre-op classes was to always have a bottle of Water close at hand. Wish I'd that bottle with me yesterday...........

So I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks for preventing sagging skin once we get our surgeries....
I was wondering if anyone had used/tried Spanx or something like that?
When I had my oldest daughter they told me that using something like that can help re-tighten the skin after pregnancy, help the muscles heal better, and aid in the stomach area going back to normal...
Has anyone tried this? I think I might do it... it helped after my pregnancies so maybe paired with a collegen cream/lotion it may do the trick? Any thoughts?

Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. Every day gets a little better but it took me 6 months to reach my happy state when most of the problems seemed to melt away. This short article describes my experience in the Weight Loss phase. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

My mom has had the sleeve and I still take her out on Sundays. You don't have to "forget" about going to a restaurant but you definitely need to be mindful of what you eat and to eat slow so that you don't end up being in pain.
Are you there God? It's me, Gigi.
And thank you, I'll be sleeved on 7/26. Are you there God? It's me, Gigi.

I had my surgery 7-15-2016 , exactly 1 mth ago and it's very hard and life changing. I wonder everyday what did I just do.. ? To myself. It's very hard and nothing easy about it. Your food choices change and it's very emotional. Restaurants you can forget them for now. I do follow the food plan, I am very strict and careful on what I am eating. If you get somethings stuck one time you will never try to do that again.. It's hard. I do see weight loss.. I have lost 30pounds in 1 mth since surgery. I am 8 pounds from under 200 pounds.. Can't wait for that. But it's been hard. I just wish everyone luck on there journey if your just starting. It does get better, everyday. But it's still hard and emotional. Good luck!

Best decision of my life! Yesterday was my 9 month post op check in with the surgeons office. Everything is looking great and I have lost 132 pounds since surgery! My bmi is almost to being out of the obese range and I am about 45 pounds from my personal goal weight.
My heaviest weight in 2011 was 376
My surgery weight in September 2015 was 319
    My current weight is 187!!!!
First picture is almost at my heaviest, then purple shirt is 11 days before surgery and black & white top is last week.

alicia54 reacted to kmorri in Do you ever feel like you can eat more than 1 cup at one sitting?
It depends on what it is.....something that's more liquid or soft maybe.....but like the other poster said....why try? I don't eat until I'm full I try to eat only until I'm satisfied. I found that there is this very fine line between being full and one bite too much....so for me I'm safer when I shoot for satisfied because it leaves me a little more room for error.....If I shoot for "full" I end up running to the bathroom too often.

Not sure how effective your surgery would be if you could. Why do you want to consume more?

It is a full time job for a while post-op.
You may have to get out pen and paper and make a schedule. Set short term milestones/goals and just keep at it.
    It gets easier.

    Hi guys!
Im about a little over 2 weeks post op and i feel like i am not handling my "meals" and my liquids well! Theres not enough hours in the day! I started purees today.....okay while writing that I wanted to slap myself in the forehead and tell myself to chill and give myself time to get the flow of things. Lol.
But seriously, I had one egg this morning with cheese and a bit of chopped ham and had half of it for a snack later on in the day. I had a bite or two of tuna and then split a small container of canned mandarins for snack and dinner. And on top of that I drank as much Water as i could. Im still sipping now.... But damn! Getting in everything I need is like a full time job! Lol
How did you guys plan yourselves better to actually have your 5-6 meals a day and the fluids without exploding?! At some point I feel like my little tummy is expanding with all the liquids im trying to get in.
Any advice on how you did it? How you paced yourself?
