    My Fitness Pal

My surgery was in Mexico and I have an open line of contact with my nutritionist, my surgeon, and my internal medicine doctor. If I have a question or concern I just email them or I can Skype with them. I don't know what company you went through or what doctor you used, but Try reaching out with your questions. Hopefully they will respond. Good luck!

    Surgery at 56?

I am 51 and I was sleeved on Monday, June 15th. No problems or nausea. Using these first few weeks to just heal. I am so glad I did this. I will admit that it is hard for me to comprehend what life will be like without the restraints of carrying Around two of me. So glad I did this!!

    I sent you a request
  4. I used Dr Lopez and was sleeved on the 15th. You will be very pleased. He is very professional and kind and a great surgeon. His small hospital is full of people who are just good at their job. It also has a small ER where people can come 24 hours and so there is always a doctor available. The day nurse, Karen, is great at her job and is very kind and caring. The evening nurse was a very helpful young man. Dr Lopez and the nutritionist both came to see me at the recovery house and checked on me before I left.
  5. I have the book and it is also available on Audible. I would listen while I drove. It's a great book

    June 15 surgery date

I was sleeved Monday. I stayed in the hospital two nights and one night in a recovery house. I am doing well. No pain just soreness and uncomfortable when getting up from laying. No nausea. Just dealing with the hunger. I managed to get 65 gr of protein yesterday so I'm pleased with that for now. I had my daughter pick up my scales while I was away. I refuse to think of this period as a weight loss period. For me it is a healing period. I will make an appointment next week to have my stitches removed and I will be weighed at that time.

    June 15th, anyone?

I home and feeling great. Pain in my stomach is not bad. Mostly soreness and it hurts to lay and stand.... But not too bad. I have no nausea but I am hungry. I had my daughter come steal my scales while I was away. I am not even going to think of this period as a weight loss period. I think of it as a healing period. Taking it easy. Just walking around the house and taking care of my incisions.
  9. I was sleeved Monday in Tijuana. Amazing experience and impressive professionals. I am home back in Texas and doing great! No nausea. No pain except for standing up and laying down, but not bad. I am forcing myself to take it easy. The only issue I am dealing with is that I am getting hungry ..... Oh and living in the bathroom while the clear liquids run through me lol. Very happy with my decision.
  10. I went for my second leak test after my surgery and I was shown the x-Rays. I was horrified to see clamps running the length of my sleeve and part of my esophagus!! I asked the doctor, "are those normal?" "What are those." He very calmly says "your bra." Thank God for his extensive medics degree!! Needless to say I felt very silly.
  11. I was sleeves Monday, June 15 and I used Dr. Jesus Lopez Dominguez and went through Bariatric Pal. I can't say enough good things about Dr. lopez and his staff. The name of the hospital was Centro Médico Quirúrgico Santa Fe. I would recommend them to anyone
  12. I was in Pappadeaux the other day and they were very accommodating to let me purchase lobster bisque without the lobster. It was great.
  13. I had my sleeve yesterday. After reading all of these responses I called my daughter and had her take my scale to her house. I'm not even going to focus on weight. I'm going to focus on healing and making it through the early stage. I will see my PCP at about three or four weeks out for s check up. I will find out then how I have done with the scale
  14. Mine was also the 15th. Everything went well. I pretty much slept through Monday with the anesthesia and then walked every hour last night. Walking again today and having Popsicles and ice chips. I get my drain removed tomorrow and my second leak test done. Hope everyone is doing good!
  15. I got my sleeve yesterday. Still in the hospital. Feel sore but not much pain. Walk walk walk walk. Rest rest rest. Popsicles and ice chips.

    June 15th, anyone?

My surgery went well. I was pretty much out of it yesterday from the anesthesia. I have been put under only once before. My husband said I was up walking before it even wore off. I would wake about every hour or two last night and walk. If I felt even a tinge of gas pain, I was out the door pushing my IV pole. I wasn't allowed anything at all until 24 hours after surgery. So after 36 hours of nothing when that first hunger pang hit, it nearly doubled me over. They let me have popsicles and ice chips today. I have walked all day. I am sore but not really much pain. Tomorrow they remove my drain and do a second leak test. It actually just hit me a few mins ago... "Wow I really did it!"
  17. I am here in Tijuana and getting ready for my surgery this morning. I made the choice to go through BariatricPal with dr. Jesus Lopez Dominez. For anyone scheduled to do the same or thinking about it, I wanted to give an update on my experience so far. Just wanted to give everyone an update. First, my surgery is scheduled for noon your time (we are two hours earlier here). I will get to the hospital two hours earlier for some testing and prep for the surgery. Pat will have my phone and will up date everyone as he knows. The procedure should take about an hour. We arrived at San Diego yesterday morning. We were picked up at the airport by a super nice young man named Roberto. He lived in San Diego. We got our own little tour on the way to the recovery house. Going across the border was simple. The car we were in had a medical pass and we did not even have to stop. We got to the recovery house, which is a small apartment complex. We were greeted by Juanito who lives next to our apartment. Juanito has basically waited on us hand and foot. The best news was that I could eat! Lol. I have been on Clear liquids for days and he said that the preop diet was to reduce the size of my liver which is beside the stomach. That has already been accomplished and so we got to eat. Everything is within walking distance.... Stores, restaurants and if we want something that is further he will have is brought to us. If we have gone anywhere Juanito has gone with us to show us where things are and translate. Then the coordinator who I have been dealing with (David Lopez) came by to meet us. And even more impressive, Dr. Lopez came by to meet us. He explained in detail what he would be doing. And answered any questions and made sure I didn't have any concerns. He was very thorough. We will have a driver pick us up this morning and take us to the hospital and then when I get there Dr Lopez said that someone by the name of Miguel would meet us there and his job is basically the same as Juanito here at the apartment. He will be there to get me and Pat anything we need and also to translate just in case some of the nurses don't speak english. I am super pumped and very comfortable with my decision. Getting ready for the losers bench!!

    Vitamins, protein shakes, etc

I buy my shakes from GNC, the total lean brand with 25 gr protein per container. Also get Isopure protein water from GNC. As for vitamins, I get mine in liquid form from a local health food store. But a friend of mine uses the flintstone chewables and really likes them
  23. maggie409

    Vitamins and supplements?

I have been taking liquid vitamins and calcium.
  24. maggie409

What activities are you looking forward to doing?

I really want to be able to wear a pair of tall boots.
  25. maggie409

2 day clear liquids before surgery

I will have to do 3 days. Is a protein shake allowed during that time made with Almond milk or does it need to be made with water?
