    Hey everyone

Hi Lena! I'm Jenn and 21 yeas old. I am 6'2 and 329 when I started my journey, 316 on day of surgery (which was yesterday). My crutch was that I'm 21 years old with hypertension, so like you, this will save my life. Surgery went well for me! I'm being well-controlled with pain and I am having NO dreaded gas pain! I did need to be straight-cathed once because my body was lagging from surgery but other than that I feel pretty great!!!! Good luck to you!! It's very exciting
  3. I just had mine yesterday! In the hospital, currently. I have 6.
  4. Surgery went great! I'm feeling pretty good! Drinking is going fine! they did have to straight cath me, though because my body wasn't letting me get any of my fluids out but hopefully that will resolve the issue! Otherwise everybody says I am doing awesome and I can't wait to start the losing process :')
  5. Hi everyone! My name is Jenn and I am 21 years old living in Iowa! I am 6'2" tall and currently 317 pounds. My highest weight was 335. Two years ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure at the age of 21. I knew deep down it was weight related but tried to stay positive. I tried dieting and lost 30 pounds but soon my new hypertension meds made me unable to exercise like I was used to and I gained it all back. Last year my sister was talking of getting gastric bypass and actually went through with it! She had surgery in February and has dropped more than 70 pounds since then. I wanted to wait and see how she did before I asked about surgery and seeing how she did gave me the courage to call my main doctor and ask for a referral. He gave one and I had my first appointment March 26th with the surgeon and nurse practitioner. Everything went great and after meeting with the health insurance rep I was pleasantly surprised that the only things I needed to do were the psych eval and a nutritionist eval before being able to have surgery! I saw the psychiatrist and nutritionist on April 16th (my birthday). They called a week later and set up my surgery. I'm currently on the Bariatric Advantage Protein shake diet until my surgery and have dropped close to 15 pounds in just about a week! My main goal is to rid myself of this awful hypertension so that I can live a healthier, longer, more beautiful life! I'd love to hear advice and stories and see pictures of progress so I know what to expect ???? the attached picture is me at 320 pounds!
  6. I leave in half an hour! I am so excited! Good luck march!!!!
  7. You're young. You're beautiful. You're HEALTHY. You've been so successful and have gotten off your medicines! You're doing SO GREAT! Don't feel down! Your health is number one. Maybe look into some counseling to help with these negative feelings you have about your appearance. In my eyes, you've done fantastic and you should be so very proud.
  8. Thank you!!!! I'm sure things will be lovely!
  9. I've had a gallbladder removal surgery so I'm expecting intense pain from gas but otherwise thank you so so so much for your well wishes!!!! I'm glad you're getting to feeling a little better! Yay buddies! I report at 10:30! How is prep going ???? I start in 50 minutes or so! Good luck to you as well! Looking forward to hearing how it went!

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

You will be surprised just how much your body changes. And it's not like you CANT have pizza! You can have significantly less pizza than before! My sister told me the most surprising thing after getting surgery was the fact that she was full off 3-4 bites of food. Just remember not to overeat and you will do swimmingly well!

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

I'm not gonna lie, I've had pizza twice during my pre-op. My dietician also said that super thin crust pizza with the sauce cheese Canadian bacon and pineapple IS a balanced meal! Maybe you can request that for yourself on your pizza Friday's at work!
  12. I haven't had my bypass yet but I had my gallbladder removed when I was 17 and honestly the gas pain was the worst part about the entire thing. I was also more sore around my midsection because she had to wade through a bunch of muscle that I had accumulated from playing basketball for 8 years! Just walk and keep up on pain meds!
  13. Being 19 years old and diagnosed with hypertension. (I am now 21)

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

You are a-okay! Mine is in a week and I've cheated 3 times during these protein shakes! Just make sure if you're going to cheat off it, choose HEALTHY options! You're doing just fine! Don't kick yourself when you're so close!
  21. My surgery is May 11th! I'm only 21 so I only told my parents and my sister and my immediate boss at work. I did not tell my brother or my sister-in-law either or my grandparents. Maybe when the time comes I will, but right now this is what I feel needs to happen and I'm sure you feel the same! It's your choice who you tell!
  22. Yay!!! So happy for you! You look AMAZING!
  23. Same! I'm only supposed to do Protein Shakes but I alternate because the shakes get super old. Good job, though! So, I assume my 15 pounds is a good thing already!
  24. Hey everyone! I'm 8 days into the pre-op diet and was just curious how much weight you all lost on yours. My doctor didn't really give me a line for what I should lose before surgery on the 2-week pre-op! I weighed in today and I'm down 15 pounds from my beginning weight! Is this good? What did you all lose?! Also, headed to subway right now for lunch and then protein shake tonight!
  25. I am on day 8 of the pre-op diet! It varies with your surgeon but my surgeon says to have clear liquids the day before surgery only and then be NPO after midnight of course. They will most likely call with further instructions soon :') my date is May 11! Good luck! Pre-op diet has been hard for me!
