Try adding two Protein Shakes a day one in morning and one in evening. Don't think reducing calories will increase weight loss it won't. Your metabolism bill slow and so would weight loss.

Where was that thread that dealt with the issue it was about people complaining about losing a great amount of weight fast. I think losing too fast is a recipe for disaster as the chances of regain in the future would be very high. Taking it slow adapting good eating habits and exercise are the key to long term success.

Its funny because in an indirect way telling people is actually a great motivation and the way surgery helps with weight loss telling people helps keeping the weight off as you know if you ever did put the weight back on you will be critised by the ones you told.

AussieSam reacted to Alex Brecher in Are stalls real or do we just make excuses ?
    AussieSam,
Great topic and discussion! I agree with you – the laws of physics (or metabolism, or energy balance) still apply, even if they are “altered” during weight loss due to slowed metabolism. So, like you said, I believe you will lose weight if you are eating fewer calories than you burn. Your metabolism could slow way down (say to 700 calories, as in the example AussieSam gave), but you could lose weight by dropping to 500 calories/day (hypothetically – I’m not recommending it, and I doubt if your metabolism really slows to anywhere near as low as 700 calories!).
That said, the scale doesn’t necessarily go down each day (or each week!) even if you are eating less than you burn. That could be because of things like Water retention even if you are burning fat. That could explain a “stall” if you are certain you are eating perfectly and you still aren’t losing weight.
In most cases, though, I think stalls happen for a reason that’s under our control. At least, it’s true for me. Maybe I let a few “extras” creep into my diet, or don’t quite exercise as much for a while. Since I’m at goal weight, my “stall” is really a “regain,” and I need to nip it in the bud – as soon as I admit to myself that my habits have slipped.
I agree not all body weight lost is always fat – it can be muscle when our bodies are starving. But to some degree, eating fewer calories than you expend leads to weight (body weight, not Water weight) loss.
    Anyway, great conversation – thanks!

Some things you can do to get rid of hunger include drinking lots of Water, exercising, taking Vitamins every morning and understanding that weight loss surgery no matter what type is a tool and no magic wand. Also check to see if it's head hunger.

For me the final straw was when my son took a photo of me on my phone only showing me from the neck down when I saw that not knowing who it was straightaway I said omg what a big person this person makes me look like a really thin person. After a few seconds reality hit me and I realised this person is me. I was shocked to the extreme didn't realise I looked like this. So that drove me to have surgery.

lol, that is fricken hilarious! I wish I would have thought of that in the hospital, my wife would have chuckled.
I think that is a good example of the difference between men and women. Self-deprecating humor like that always seems to piss off the sensitive types. Some men are that way, but is it far more prevalent among women. Think about it: you have three guys who are friends in a group. One bald, one fat, and one missing a front tooth. They will call each other awful names like Shiner, Hoss, and Snaggletooth. If they were women, they would wait until one went to the bathroom and call her bitch, skank, or tramp.
My wife can't stand being around too many women for long. I told her I just don't understand it. She told me to stop trying. The only people that can understand women, are women. And they hate each other!
As for the support group thing; I just don't know. I have always been the "loner" type. Never ask for help nor confide my feelings with anyone except for my better half. The idea of sharing how I feel with a bunch of people I don't know just goes against my nature. There are sometime when I would like to ask a question of someone who has gone through the same thing, but then I remember that I don't know the context or the perspective of that person. So it is pretty much pointless.
This reminds me, I should post something in the thread someone started about getting angry easily after the surgery...

AussieSam reacted to 7 Bites_Jen in “Biggest Loser” Versus Bariatric Surgery: Questions
I can answer your question as to why they only followed contestants for 7 months - they didn't want to admit that the contestants 1) stopped losing and/or 2) regained a SIGNIFICANT amount of weight. I would have to search for the article, but a contestant came out saying that about 60% of the contestants regained the majority of their weight back after leaving the ranch. The idea of living the Biggest Loser lifestyle outside the Biggest Loser ranch is absolutely ridiculous, and he is an irresponsible medical professional for pretending that it is not only possible, but healthy for long-term weight loss and maintenance.

For me it was when I was 12 years old and we had a seven eleven that opened down the road. They had a fast eating contest and I went up against another boy my age in a pie eating contest. Anyway I finished my pie while the other boy was having his first bite. I won a slurped. What is one of your past memory as a slob.

The biggest loser contestants are robots been ordered to lose big weight or else they get spanked silly. The amount of exercise they get them to do is enough to wear out all their joints. Wls peeps lose at their own pace and they are not beaten with a stick for not exercising 8 hours a day and not losing a ridiculous and fast amount of weight.

The biggest loser is all about the TV audience it promotes unhealthy and unrealistic weight loss and least to say a quick fix. Bariatric surgery is the complete opposite.

A couple of years ago I stopped at a gas station on the way to work to get a donut not even to get gas. I picked out 2 big ones - like apple fritters. They guy said, they're old. I said, I'll take them anyway. He looked at me with utter disdain and said, you can have them for free (you miserable slob).
