  1. My friend was weight training for a body building competition (she was a gastric bypass patient, now 5 years out).. Her trainer had her on higher calories, cause she was obviously burning.. but she gained weight. It went against everything her trainer knew.. but remember when you've been 3-400 pounds, I just don't believe our bodies are "normal".. Have you tried cycling your calories or cycling your carbs? If you really are burning all these calories, you MAY need to increase calories.. but I would caution you to be careful. I do a lot of interval training on the cross trainer which is a combination of running and cycling. When I lower my calaries I just cannot workout properly.
  2. No comment.AussieSam what is your workout regimen? If its not body building and lots of cardio, you're eating too much. Now, if you are burning 800 calories a day I get it or unless that's what your nutritionist told you. I average about 800-1000 cals a day, net. On days I Dont work out, I only eat that many. On days I do work out, depending on how long or how hard, i eat part of them back. But my net only hits 1200 once or twice a week. I agree you have to fuel your body but Dont use it as an excuse. Good luck finding out your way and the answers you need! I train about two hours a day and burn about 1100 calaries so I don't see the point like a lot of people that starve themselves on ridiculous low calarie amount and lose muscle. Your calarie in take seems good keep up the good work. So my hubby is a personal trainer. He was wondering a few things. ow old are you? What do you do during your workouts? What are you eating? Are you training for something specific? I'm 43 years old I do interval training and some weights I'd say 70 percent cardio the weights are added on top of the 2 hours. I'm not training for anything just mainly to burn maximum fat.
  3. Wait, what? 2k calories is "not interested" in food? So basically, you are eating to exercise. What are those calories comprised of? I was told to eat lean Protein, veggies and some complex carbs during the losing phase. There is/was no way I could eat that many calories if I followed that diet now. I maintain at 1500-1800/day, sometimes I get in 2000, but rarely. That's throwing in a lot of nuts, cheese and a few Hershey kisses daily to get to 1800, too. I've been maintaining for over a year and I'm happy with where I am. Losing at 2k and wanting to add more? I think you need to listen to your NP, not your experience. The calaries are split three ways protein complex carbs and fats. The protein is mostly chicken and fish and some red meat for Iron the carbs are fruits and veggies and some healthy cereals and the fats are mostly evoo and nuts.

  5. I agree that weight loss happens in the kitchen not the gym. I also like to add in the mind also to that statement.
  6. I do about 1800 to 2000 calaries a day. I need these calaries in order to exercise well.
  7. I only burned 10,000 thru 10 hours of exercising last week.. Wonder how much that equates to total. As many others will agree with me the machines don't give out proper amount of calaries burned. I don't go by the machines, I wear a heart rate monitor.. I run and bike many miles during the week. I agree, workout machines are highly overinflated. 10 hours is a great amount of exercise keep up the good work. Great video thanks for sharing.
  8. Thanks all for the great advice. It's strange as I havnt been able to increase my daily calaries as strangely just not interested in lots of food these days.

  10. Then you are taking your own failings and applying them to others. What caused YOUR stalls may not be universal. I am not applying my failings to others I'm just giving my opinion. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

    GS Girl, LB Boyfriend Advice?

A just like the band other surgeries can be cheated on also. It's very hard to help a person that doesn't want to help himself. My advice would be is to give him time to come around and through your future success you will get him coming round.

Well done Nikkei I was gonna say the next 70 lbs will be a piece of cake but realised cake might not help you lose. So I will say a piece of fruit.

    Don't rush it

I agree with you 100 percent, let the body adjust to the new you and there is no rush as you got your whole life to do plastic surgery.
  14. I know this might seem crazy to a lot of people but through experience sometimes you need to change what your body is use to in order to kickstart your weight loss engine. When the body stays on the same routine daily it needs to be tricked into losing when you first started weight loss where your heart rate was quicker and you burned more calaries.
  15. I do agree with you but in the back of my mind I feel that if increase my food intake it will boost my heart rate and thus lose more weight afterwards.

    this is the scary part

I think a great thing to do is buy a few emotional eating books and read a bit daily.
  17. Sometimes our bodies just need that little bit extra it's ok from time to time. Don't feel bad when it happens always remember you got the rest of your life to lose the weight not a limited time like we have conditioned our minds to think.

    64 OUNCES

Yes that should be fine, it also has the added bonus of lots of water keeping you feeling full.
  19. I should have said water retention. To lose 10 lbs in a week you need to burn 35000 calories.
  20. I knew I'd get your attention but this is regarding weight loss. Do you think men and women lose weight on an equal level or does one have an advantage ?
  21. Seems like salt retention when your body released its excess water you dropped lots.

    First appointment

Wls is a great tool but always remember it's just as much as a mind battle as it is a physical battle.
  23. Lol you may be right
  24. I think men lose faster just because they have a higher muscle mass.
