  1. What's the guideline for the amount of weight you can lift after surgery: how much and how long after? I don't mean lifting weights as in weightlifting, but more like: "You cannot lift more than 5 pounds for a week post surgery."
  2. I'm having SADI-S procedure next week laparoscopically. I've been advised that I will have "drains" placed. Of course I will ask my doctor what this means, but can any laypeople interpret what this is and why I need it?
  3. It was not done correctly the first time.
  4. My surgery is in 1 month: 1 am a self-pay LOOP DS (Sadi-S) candidate in Mexico. I'm paranoid that I'll get there and my surgery will be canceled the day before due to some rare/hidden health issue. For reference, I had a slipped lap band about 5 years ago and a gastric sleeve 4 years ago. So, this is my THIRD surgery. I currently don't have any concerning symptoms, except for a very large sleeve. I don't have any current barium swallow x-rays, so I will be getting them the day before surgery. It is on that day (the day before) that I will find out if the surgery will proceed. This is what I'm so nervous about. I'm curious about reasons anyone else was deemed unfit to undergo surgery!

  6. I want some advice. At around 5 weeks after your surgery, what kinds of foods were you eating and what kind of foods were you having trouble with? Also, I'm looking for good foods to buy cheaply from a grocery store during my mushy phase. Specifically, I want cheap, 2-3 ingredient meals. I'll be traveling, and moving from one city to another every week or so, and I don't want to pack and transport food. I also can't afford to eat out every single meal (I'll be in expensive cities like Paris) so I do want to prepare some foods at my rental apartments. I'll have a full kitchen everywhere, as well as a big thing of Protein powder for shakes. I'll be gone two months and I really especially want to avoid any foods that will make me sick. Thanks in advance
  7. Bump...OP, I'm in exactly the same boat, traveling for 2 months 5 weeks out. Here's my post on it: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/338531-intense-travel-5-weeks-post-sleeve-surgery/ Any advice would be so much appreciated. How are you doing?
  8. I'm undergoing a revision from a slipped lapband to a sleeve this week. I am only about 20 pounds from my goal. However, as this was an unexpected situation, I'm concerned about my future travels. I received a fellowship to travel abroad and it will begin 5 weeks after my surgery. Declining the fellowship is not something I want to do--it's a great opportunity. I know that it varies from person to person and that if there are any complications. that will make a difference, but for a young/otherwise healthy person and a smooth operation/recovery, is 5 weeks enough time to heal before embarking on a 2-month trip? I will be traveling (by train, plane, bus) approximately every week during those two months. Otherwise (hopefully!) doing a lot of sightseeing and lecturing. I have purchased trip insurance, so if I need to fly back to the US for an emergency situation, I'm covered. The places I'm traveling to all have excellent healthcare, and my companion is well-informed about my situation. I plan to do nothing but rest and try to recover for the 5 weeks leading up to the trip. I guess I'm asking for tips on energy so I'm not exhausted as well as things to look out for/be vigilant concerning. Multivitamin recommendations, etc.? I have a prescription for 30 days of Prevacid; should I get enough to cover those 2 months? All words of advice and caution are welcome. General stories about how you felt 5 weeks out of a sleeve would be great information. Thank you all in advance.
