  1. A similar thing happened to me last month. I moved out of the area three months out from surgery, and went back 6 months later to visit. People in my old office did a double take. One person from an office upstairs said she just stared at me until I smiled trying to figure out who I was because I had transformed so much. I then stopped by my daughters old Girl Scout troop meeting to say hi to the girls and one who has known me for years starred at me trying to figure out if it was really me. She asked if aliens took me away because I looked so different, lol.
  2. The weight loss certainly does a number on your perception of your body. I still see myself as far, but then I catch myself in the mirror and can't help but smile and think I look so much skinnier now. Having gone from a 20/22 pant to 8/10 is amazing! Shirts are M instead of 2XL. I do think I might see someone to discuss my body image issues.

    Any Sleeved Couples out there?

My husband and I had our surgeries a month apart. Allowed me to take care of the kids while he healed and vice versa. Having a built in support system has been nice. My mom is now in the early stages of her journey.

    Going back to school

I'm an academic advisor and this is one of the topics that I speak to my students about. You need to understand time management skills. Planners are great for that, as are wall calendars for the daily visual reminder of due dates.
  6. I'm at 100 pounds lost in 9 months. Body dismorphia is a beast. I don't see myself as being a whole lot smaller than before, even though I know I am. I think it's the jiggly/saggy skin that hangs about that plays a role. I have pictures form our family vacation that I acknowledge looking good! I actually wanted to be in pictures, lol. But I have more energy, and can seethe difference in the mirror, obviously some more days than others. Shopping is easier, and more enjoyable. It's also nice to not be the largest person in the room at social functions. Went from a size 20/22- 8/10.

    Constipation

9+ months here and I'm still not a daily pooper. Usually every 2-3 days. There's nothing worse than thinking you're going to poop and only passing gas, lol. Pooping is like a mini celebration some days.

    Hair loss?

Mine started around month 4 and went until month 6. Prior to it falling out I had really thick hair, and I easily lost half of what I had. I'm 9+ months out and the loss is minimal. Possibly less now than before surgery. I took Biotin religiously but honestly don't think it really mattered.
  9. Wahoo! As of today I am officially down 100 pounds!

    Feeling odd eating at restaurants

I'm 9 months out, but often share food with my husband or will order an entree and share with one of my kids. I have been known to just order a side, soup/chili, or salad. No shame. Like others have said, you're in control. I'm not ashamed to ask for a to go box. Just means that I have leftovers for the next few days, or will bring it home and a kid or grandparent will eat it the next day.
  11. Months 3-6. Month 3.5-5 was the worst! My hair loss has stopped and started to regrow. But it's incredibly thin now.

  13. DH had his surgery June 24, and mine was July 21. A month was adequate. My recovery was tougher than his was. Two weeks is not enough time between them. We have little kids so we needed a functioning parent while the other was recoiling.
  14. 9 months out. Still take vitamins. Dealt with mass hair loss (and now regrowth), stalls, food ups and downs. It's important to continue getting in your water, protein, vitamins, and exercise. I'm no longer pre diabetic

    Curvy girl clothing issues...HELP!

For the last 10 years I've purchased my jeans at Maurice's. Lots of styles.

    Tri-cities, Washington?

While I no longer live in WA, I would suggest joining the FB page mentioned earlier. It's been a wonderful resource! I lived in Pullman and as there were no support groups on the Palouse a small group of us would meet on our own. You might want to consider starting your own group. We discussed challenges, goals, accomplishments, etc. I miss the old group as I'm now in the process of finding a new one out of state.

Does anyone attend the support group at St. Francis? if so, what do you think of their support group? Is there a lot of people in attendance? I'm interested in attending. I moved to the area in November and had my surgery out of state. Was wondering if they allow attendance/participation of those who did not have their surgeries through them?
  18. I'm 6 months post op and an beginning to consider a boob job. I liked having D-DD boobs, and miss them. What I have now are saggy Cs. I'm looking into getting the Gummy Bear implants and was wondering if anyone has had these and if so what your thoughts are on them? Do you think it was it worth the additional cost compared to silicone or saline?

    Was this your first surgery?

Aside from having my wisdom teeth removed, this was my first surgery. I was scared but handled it well.

    Constipation

I'm 7 months out and having this issue. Thought things were starting to regulate, with bm every other day. Nope. Back to many days between each bm. Don't want to take anything, but starting to think I might need to.

    Girl Scout Cookies

My daughters sell GS Cookies, so they are in my garage as we speak. I will be honest and acknowledge that I ate one Tagalong and a few Thin Mints. My will power has helped restrain the urge to plow through a whole box, but it's hard! Especially while staffing booths where those colorful little boxes are taunting me. Damn, they're just so yummy!

    Shaving Armpits

No guidance on this, but haven;t thought about this being an issue with plastics or loss. Something new to think of the next time I shave.

Foods for camping in cold weather?

I'm also thinking that you'll need to layer up and eat more frequently. You might also want to talk with who ever is planning the food/meals so that they are aware of your diet and can make recommendations on things that might work well for you to fuel. When in doubt, bring your own food. As for camping, I went camping a month after surgery and was fine. Rode my bike and hiked too.
