  1. Hey all! Got my surgery date of November 16!! It's driving me crazy! My surgeon only does conversion from band to bypass on Mondays. That limits my options for a date severely. But I'm on the list of there are any cancelations I'll be moved up. I'm located in NYC. The Bronx to be exact. Anyone else in the city?
  2. Think about it. Don't cancel your surgery, you've got time. Your surgery isn't till Dec right? Use this time wisely.

    Gastric bypass and acid reflux

@ Go with the bypass. Do all the research you can but i read a lot of ppl on here revising from sleeve to rny due to gerd. Better safe than sorry.
  4. Sorry have nothing to offer just curious to see replies. Went through similar and am currently at the end of the process about to sign consent for surgery from band to bypass. Good luck to you!

Girl i couldn't agree more! I've been at this since Dec of 2014! It's taking forever! Last minute discovery of mild sleep apnea set me wayyyy back. I have an appt on Tues to go in to my surgeons off to sign consent for surgery and have my things submitted to insurance. Here's to praying for a speedy surgery date afterwards!

    Gastric bypass and acid reflux

I also read that sleeve can make issues with acid reflux/gerd worse. Speak to your surgeon about your concerns.

    High BMI's

Hi yall My bmi is about 54 or so. Not too sure. I'm about 340lbs at 5'7" I'm awaiting going in to my surgeons office to sign consent. I've been at this process since Dec 2014 so being this close to the finish line is killing me! ????????
  11. Hiya Fatty. No need to feel ashamed, we're all family here and in some stage of the process. I had the band done in may of 2011 and the most i lost was 40lbs after barely any fills. I developed a crazy amount of scar tissue on top of my port so the nurse always had issues getting through. It was discouraging so just stopped going. Dec of 2014 i started the process of a revision to bypass. I had to do a 6 month diet and other hoops, after it was all done it was discovered i have moderate sleep apnea. Smh i finally on 9/3 have all my approvals in and I'm now awaiting the nurse to gather it to call me in for my consent for surgery. Smdh this final hurdle is taking soooo long! I'm trying to stay calm but. ... smh sooo try not to put an expected time frame on when this will be done. Things happen sometime. Was expecting surgery in June, here it is September and still waiting. Keep your head up. It'll happen. ????☺

    New York sleevers

hey just wanted to know how is it going so far i am also gettn mine done at montefiore i started my pre -opt the ending of june ????Hi yall! I'm a band to bypass patient and finally submitted all my paperwork for approval a week ago. My nerves are shot! I'm also having my surgery done at monte. My surgeon is Dr. Choi. Who is yours? She's possibly THE nicest surgeon there. She did my band with no problems 4 yrs ago.
  16. Thank you ladies. Sigh I'm just impatient now. Little bumps in the road has happened during this process so I'm anxious. I've been at it since December of 2014! I'm going to call today.
  17. Ahhhh i keep checking to see if my insurance even received my paperwork! Im trying not to be a pain at my surgeons office but they were getting my paperwork together last thurs. Then we just had the labor day weekend so I'm sure that didn't help anything. Smh
  18. @@Sajijoma Was going to say the same thing. My process has taken almost 10 months! But don't let that discourage you. One day at a time and keep that motivation! You can do it!

    Submitting to insurance

Hi dream, I'm 34 and was banded in 2011. What insurance do you have? Ughhhh hope they don't make me wait also. Smh

    Submitting to insurance

I'm at this stage also. Everything submitted to my surgeons office and after the holiday they should be sending it all in to my insurance, UHC. I'm nervous because I'm young for a revision from band to bypass and had had the band done using HIP. I'm praying they ok removal of the band and conversion in one go. Fingers crossed for me! ☺
  21. @@Ksarch60 I think in regards to the sleeve it's still a restriction surgery so slider foods can go down quicker and you eat more as opposed to more dense food like chicken.

  25. Wow. I was recently diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea during my pre op stage so my pulmonary doc won't clear me for surgery till I'm on the cpap machine for at least a month. Sigh. .. here's to brighter days ahead for us.
