Nobody made me the ambassador to all obese folks. I have no obligation to tell them anything about my personal business. I'm sure each and every one of them knows someone who have had WLS. They are free to make their own opinions and decisions about it without me shouting from the rooftops that I had WLS.
Like I said before, I tell some people and I don't tell some people. If I tell someone I lost weight through Portion Control and excersise and not mention the surgery I'm not lying, right?

I'm not sure when making the personal decision to not tell the world all of your personal business became a "half truth" or "lie by omission" but if that's the case, I have a few scenerios/questions for those of you who think that way.
    By that logic:

If someone asks me how me and husband are the day after a huge fight (or a night of great sex), is it my duty to tell them all the details or is my standard answer of "Great!" or "Fine!" now a lie?

If someone asks me why I look tired, do I have to tell them that my husband snored and farted all night/was extremely frisky/kept getting up to pee and woke me up a gazillion times or am I lying?

I am just getting over a horrible tummy bug. When people ask me if I'm feeling better, should I go ahead and tell them that I am terribly afraid that I am going to poop in my pants at any minute because my stomach still feels off? If I don't, I am TOTALLY lying by omission.

Well meaning friends often ask how my kids are doing in school. Should I tell them that my oldest is in the top ten in her class, got into a top rated university, has received an a$$ load of scholarships but that her ex-boyfriend is being a real bast@rd and making her personal life a little miserable? I mean, that's the truth.

People often ask me my ethnicity because I am olive complected in the bible belt. I tell them Mexican and Italian, but I leave out the drop of German and Acatec Indian. Pin a big red L on my chest!

Must I tell people that I am on the rag/pissed at my kids/need a glass of wine/really have no desire to talk to them/in a hurry when they ask me how I am doing? Manners be damned! I don't want to be a liar.

Do I love your skirt? Why yes, I do! But now I have to tell you that it's beautiful but looks like **** on you because I don't want to omit any info.

Why am I smiling? I just crop dusted some nasty faced woman an aisle over. TRUTH!!

I could go on forever ...

Keeping my personal business PERSONAL doesn't make ME a liar just because you choose to share YOUR personal business.

I chose to keep my surgery to myself because I knew it would bother me when people said that I took the easy way out. I also know that bariatric surgery has a stigma attached to it and I wasn't willing to deal with that. A lady I worked with had a surgery and everyone knew about it. When she lost weight all anyone said was well, she has lapband so it's not like she's working hard and when she gained it all back, everyone was all smug about how her cheaterhead surgery failed. That irked me and it contributed to my decision to keep it to myself.
My three best friends know and no one else does. I am now 2.5 years post-op so my weight loss really isn't a topic of conversation anymore. When people asked what I did I just said I worked out more and ate less, which was entirely true. I like the idea that lies by exclusion are not lies. I don't feel that I have any personal obligation to other large people to tell my story- it's my business, not theirs, and I plan to keep it that way.
My boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend, once said something like...it's almost like you had that stomach surgery. I was thin! I also have major plastic surgery scars that someone who sees me naked and isn't stupid can conclude that I had been larger at least at some point. The big contributor is the fact that food makes me puke, so when I'm dating I either can't eat half the places we go or I do eat and then barf. All I said to him was...I thought that surgery wasn't supposed to make you barf? And he was like, ohhh yeah, you're right. End of story. My mom said once..."did you have your stomach cut out?" and my response was, "what?, why would I do that?. Again, end of story. I am fine lying to protect my privacy because in the end it is about number one, and this number one did not want to deal with the bs people like to throw at those who have had this surgery. I am ok with that, and in the event anyone finds out I lied to them, I frankly don't care.

Donate, say, a penny for every calorie you dump, or a quarter for every cookie you toss. Now that’s how putting yourself first can help out others in need!"
    That's awesome! Love this idea.

    Every*one* is different.
I, also, was pretty much back to normal, except for my eating (or lack of eating at that point). I felt really good and had no complications at all.

Dr. Hugh Houston is the absolute best combination of support and bluntness. His staff is wonderful, too. I'm so glad I went through them for my surgery.
I had my sleeve surgery on 6/23/15, and so far I'm down 68 since surgery and 88 total. I couldn't be happier with him and his staff. Oh....and no complications at all. His post surgery eating plan is much stricter than many I've seen on here, but it's totally worth it. I feel great.

Nashville. Dr. Houston at Centennial is the man and his support staff are phenomenal. I had the sleeve 7/13/15 and hit the ground running. Zero complications and down 99lbs since surgery, 174 for the year so far. I was THE WORST naysayer and was sure I'd regret it, but have had a great experience and stuck it on my employers insurance, so double win for me!

I'm almost six weeks post op. I feel really blessed that my NUT is amazing. She is available to me via email or phone, in addition to the regular appointments when I see my surgeon. With my surgical center being a Bariatric Center for Excellence, I have FREE access to her and an exercise physiologist, FOR LIFE! Anytime I want to talk in person, I can just call and make an appointment. No charge.
She's been very helpful with the post surgical eating plan, as well as with my Vitamins, etc. I'm very pleased.

I'm not losing a whole lot faster than you. I had my surgery on 6/23/15. Since then I've lost 59 pounds. I had lost 20 prior to surgery from my highest weight.
But I'm happy, and I feel great. Honestly, I would find it difficult to get too many more calories in right now, without eating a lot more carbs. And eating this low carb count is making me feel so great. It's done wonders for my knee pain, even before I lost much weight. Just a couple weeks of very low "bad" carbs, and my knee pain was much improved.

This weekend, I blew right into Onederland!! Woohoo! I'm 53, and I had my sleeve surgery on 6/23/15. Since then, I've lost 56 pounds. I lost 20 during the 3 month pre-surgical period required by my insurance.
I feel a bit like a new person. And I don't really mean emotionally. I was a pretty confident fat person before surgery. But now, my knees and ankles and feet don't hurt. I'm enjoying wearing my clothes again, and I'm so excited about the future. I have five grandchildren, and I'm back to being that fun grandmother I always planned to be. Now, instead of just being fun in the kitchen and at the sewing machine, I'm active with them. I can be physically fun with them!
